NWWC: Kitsap Peninsula's Premier Youth Wrestling Club
NWWC is a distinguished member of USA Wrestling and the premier feeder club for 10 area high schools including Bremerton, Central Kitsap, Gig Harbor, Kingston, Klahowya, North Kitsap, North , Olympic, Peninsula and South Kitsap. Over the last five years, NWWC wrestlers ages 4 -18 yrs old have amassed 527 State Championship Medals, 121 Individual State Titles, 40 USAW All-American Honors, 26 Regional Championships, 13 State Age-Division Titles, 2 State Team Titles, 3 Greco National Championships, 3 Freestyle National Championships, a Folkstyle National Title and over $200,000 in College Wrestling Scholarships. In 2016, NWWC was ranked among USA Wrestling's Top 50 Clubs nationwide for the fifth consecutive year. Follow this year's accomplishments (major tournaments) as they get posted below.

2017 USAW Northern Plains FS & GR Regionals
Three NWWC wrestlers traveled to Rochester, MN over the weekend of May 19th to compete at the 2017 Northern Plains Freestyle & Greco-Roman Regional Championships. Lars Michaelson of Bremerton, age 11, led the three-man team with a Freestyle Championship on Saturday. The Regional tournament drew nearly 900 top youth and high school wrestlers from Illinois, Iowa, Minnesota, Nebraska, North Dakota, South Dakota and Wisconsin (and Washington). Congratulations to all three NWWC wrestlers.

2017 WSWA Freestyle & Greco-Roman State Championships
Forty-five athletes representing the Kitsap Peninsula and the mighty NWWC traveled to the NW Sports Hub in Centralia, WA on May 6th and 7th to compete among Washington's top Freestyle and Greco-Roman wrestlers at the 2017 WSWA Freestyle and Greco-Roman State Championships. The two tournaments drew nearly 1600 entries from 85 wrestling clubs throughout the state. 

Over the weekend, eleven NWWC wrestlers captured individual state titles including Samuel Moran of Gig Harbor, age 6, and Xavier Eaglin of Port Orchard, Age 14, who both earned their second and third state championship of 2017 and the prestigious Triple Crown Award (Folkstyle, Freestyle and Greco-Roman State Titles). As a team, NWWC won the PeeWee, Bantam and Novice divisions and finished second overall at the Freestyle State Tournament. NWWC also won the Bantam division at the Greco-Roman State Tournament and placed seventh overall.

In total, NWWC finished the weekend with sixty medals, eighteen individual state titles and the club's eighth consecutive top-5 team finish at the Freestyle State Tournament. Congratulations to all forty-five NWWC wrestlers.

Auburn FS & GR Freedom Slam
Congratulations to all the NWWC wrestlers who traveled to Auburn Mountain View High School on Saturday, April 29th to compete at the Auburn Freedom Slam freestyle and greco-roman wrestling tournaments. Individual and team results for the freestyle tournament are not available due to tournament software issues. 2017 USAW Folkstyle National Championships
Three NWWC brothers traveled to Cedar Falls, IA over the weekend of April 1st to compete for Team Washington at the 2017 USAW Folkstyle National Championships. Thor Michaelson of Bremerton, age 13, earned a 3rd place finish in the Schoolboy 105 lb division. With the top-3 finish, Michaelson secured All-American status and a spot on the US Schoolboy National Team. The USAW Folkstyle National Championships drew nearly 2,000 top high school and youth wrestlers from forty different states. Congratulations to all three NWWC wrestlers:

Slamfest 4 FS & GR Tournaments
Thirty-three NWWC wrestlers traveled to Auburn Mountain View High School on Saturday, April 1st to compete at the Slamfest 4 Freestyle & Greco-Roman tournaments. 2017 Northwest Cadet/Junior Regionals
Two NWWC wrestlers traveled down to Centralia, WA on Saturday, March 25th to compete for Team Washington at the 2017 Northwest Cadet/Junior Freestyle Regional Championships.  Together, Abraham Parish of Bremerton, age 15, and Haley Michaelson of Bremerton, age 15, garnered a record of 4-3 for the day. 2017 BBFF Olympic Development Camp
NWWC's Thor Michaelson of Bremerton, age 13, spent the week of March 19th at the U.S. Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs, CO working with the U.S. Olympic coaching staff and forty elite high school wrestlers from throughout the United States. 2016 Twin City 3-Style Classic

Forty-nine athletes representing the mighty NWWC traveled to the Tacoma Dome on Sunday, February 19th to compete among Washington's top folkstyle wrestlers at the 2017 Chuck Bullard Mem'l WSWA Folkstyle State Championships. Thirty NWWC wrestlers placed in the top-8 and medaled while four individuals returned home as State Champions; congratulations Samuel Moran of Gig Harbor, age 5, Dylan Sternod of Port Orchard, age 7, Xavier Eaglin of Port Orchard, age 14 and Josh Bayne of Hansville, 17.

Battle In The Woods
Thirty-five NWWC wrestlers traveled to Eatonville High School on Sunday, February 12th to compete with over 350 other athletes from 40 different clubs at the 7th annual Battle In The Woods wrestling tournament. Skagit Valley Showdown
The New England Patriots and the Atlanta Falcons were warming up for Super Bowl 51 while seventeen NWWC wrestlers threw down at the Skagit Valley Showdown in Burlington, WA on Sunday, February 5, 2017. Ultimately, the Patriots won their 5th Super Bowl title and NWWC won its 4th Team Title of the folkstyle season with seventeen medalists and eleven individual champions. NWWC's Quinn Lawrence of Poulsbo, age 12, traveled with Coach Bill to Fort Worth, TX over the weekend of February 3rd to compete at the 2017 LoneStar Nationals (Cottonbowl Nationals). 2017 Oregon Wrestling Classic
Thirteen NWWC wrestlers and their families braved the icy roads and sub-zero temperatures of Central Oregon over the weekend of January 14th to compete at the 2017 Oregon Wrestling Classic. Six NWWC wrestlers returned home with top-4 finishes including Brendan David of Port Orchard, age 7, who earned a first-place finish in the Bantam 75 lbs division. The 2017 Oregon Wrestling Classic drew nearly 800 elite youth wrestlers from 125 clubs throughout the Pacific Northwest. Congratulations to all thirteen NWWC wrestlers.

Sixty-five NWWC wrestlers welcomed over three hundred other athletes to the 6th annual Northwest Ultimate Wrestler tournament at the Kitsap Pavilion on Sunday, Dec 11th. Thirteen NWWC wrestlers returned home with top-6 finishes including seven individual championships - an NWWC record for the Tough Guy. Thor Michaelson of Bremerton, age 12, earned the Outstanding Wrestler award after pinning seven opponents, each in the first period. As a team, NWWC earned its second tournament championship of the 2016 folkstyle season. The Tough Guy tournament, a PCJWL varsity-level competition, drew over 450 young athletes and 40 teams from Pierce County and the surrounding areas. Congratulations to the following NWWC wrestlers:

2016 TOA Northwest Bigfoot Battle
Twenty-five NWWC wrestlers traveled to Spokane, WA over the weekend of November 19th to compete at the 2016 TOA Northwest Bigfoot Battle. Fifteen NWWC wrestlers placed in the top-6 including individual champions Devin Vally of Port Orchard, age 5, Samuel Moran of University Place, age 5, Mason Ellison of Port Orchard, age 7, Brendan David of Port Orchard, age 7, Lars Michaelson of Bremerton, age 11, and Hannah Johnson of Poulsbo, age 13. The Bigfoot Battle, a regional-level tournament and national-ranking qualifier, drew over 900 top youth wrestlers from 137 teams throughout nine western states. As a team, NWWC placed 3rd.

2016 Jr MidCal Championships and Final Four Duals
Eight NWWC teammates traveled to Gilroy, CA over the weekend of November 11 to compete for Team Washington at the 2016 Junior MidCal Championships and Final Four Middle School Duals. Mitchell Neiner of Port Orchard, age 12, and Lars Michaelson of Bremerton, age 11, both earned a first place finish at the Jr MidCals and helped to lead Team Washington to a second-place team finish. The 2016 Junior MidCal Championships and Final Four Middle School Duals featured over 200 wrestlers and eight middle-school all-star teams from WA, CA, NV and AZ. 2016 Freakshow
Five NWWC preseason wrestlers traveled to the Westgate Resort & Casino in Las Vegas, NV over the weekend of October 21, 2016 to compete at the 2016 Freakshow wrestling tournament. As a team, NWWC recorded a 17-6 win-loss record and placed three wrestlers in the top-6 including Haley Michaelson of Bremerton, age 15, and Thor Michaelson of Bremerton, age 12, who both finished first-place in their division and returned home with a gold medal and a Freakshow Champion singlet. The sold-out tournament drew nearly 3000 youth and high school wrestlers from throughout the United States. Congratulations to all five NWWC wrestlers.

2016 Thunder Dome Throw Down
Twenty-three NWWC wrestlers traveled to Highline Community College in Des Moines, WA on October 15, 2016 to compete at the 7th annual Thunder Dome Thrown Down wrestling tournament. Seventeen NWWC wrestlers earned top-3 finishes and returned home with medals including William MoranGrady White, Mitchell Neiner, Thor Michaelson, Ashton Schessler and Josh Bayne who each won gold in their division. The Thunder Dome Throw Down drew over 150 youth and high school wrestlers from Washington, Oregon and British Columbia. Congratulations to all twenty-three NWWC wrestlers.

2016 California World Challenge
Four NWWC wrestlers traveled to Clovis West High School in Clovis, CA over the weekend of October 8th to compete among California's top preseason high school and youth wrestlers at the 2016 California World Challenge. All four wrestlers earned a top-6 finish and returned home with a medal. The California World Challenge drew over 800 wrestlers and 20 college wrestling recruiters from throughout the West Coast.
