HOUNDS SHIP PIRATES HOME WITH LOSS

Is spring finally here? Today’s ten o’clock game seemed to affirm that. Spring vacation means that the hounds will play two games in the morning this week. The hounds had taken some time off over the weekend to get themselves rested for the next several weeks where games will be piling up in rapid succession. The opponent on this day would be Cinnaminson who has been a tough opponent of late for the dawgs. Today would be no exception as the pirates seemed primed for an upset. The hounds started the bottom of the first with JJ reaching second base but the hounds were not able to bring her home. In the second inning, Madison Sisz reached on a single and Arch hit a shot down the left field line which sent Siszie home for a one run lead. In spite of getting runners on in five of the six innings and having runners in scoring position in each of these innings, that would be the only run of the game for the hounds. Fortunately, Gonz was up to the task as she twirled her third consecutive strong game. Gonz was able to keep the pirates at bay and off the scoreboard as she recorded the shutout.
NOTES-The yappers shone on defense as Riley Gripp made several great running catches. The one in the sixth inning displayed Gripper’s range as she bolted over to right center to nab a line drive and deprive the pirates of extra bases . Also in the sixth Maddie Sisz made a great catch and throw on a slow grounder. Once again the opponent had not scouted the maestro behind the plate, Jules. In the fifth a wayward pirate wandered off of second base whereupon Jules said, not today mate and recorded the out.
