DAWGS BARKING TAMES RAMS

The hounds journeyed to Riverside to play the Rams in a contest that marked the return home for Coach Reale. The JV coach was a former student at Riverside and her father is an assistant coach for the program. Mr. Reale remarked that other than this one day he is a rabid fan of the hounds. A real class act and certainly a welcome addition to the dawg pound. The game was played at ten in the morning, once again because of the spring break. In the first two innings the dawgs were unable to consistently connect and the game entered the third inning in a 0-0 tie. Gonz made sure of this as she once again was moving the ball around the strike zone to confound the rams hitters. The yappers erupted for six runs in the top of the third as Gwen Quackenboss started the inning with her first hit as a member of the dawg pound with an opposite field triple. The hounds would bat around in the inning. The highlight had to be the moon shot off of the bat of Haylei Archer that easily cleared the left field fence. This inning seemed to relax the pound as they started to ricochet the ball to all parts of the field. As the dawgs were piling up the hits, Gonz was limiting the rams to four hits through the game and one run. The final score was 10-1 hounds.
NOTES-Over the last 21 innings, Gonzomatic has been just that. Try two runs in that span by the oppostiion. On fire!!!!!! Riverside has refurbished their field with new dugouts and a fence to signify homeruns. The fence is a good 225 ft. from home plate. Arch’s soaring blast in the third easily cleared the left field fence. Any ball up in the air that long and traveling that far has to pass through at least two time zones. The acrobatic Jules Mayernik foiled a bunt attempt in the third with a gymnastic move to her right that would have registered a 10 with the judges. Jules commented in a post game interview that she is just preparing herself for the yoga lesson at practice on Thursday. She claims that she will be labeled as Miss Flexibility. Both Q and Taylor Gooden notched their first hits as members of the varsity.
