HOUNDS LOSE TO CHIEFS 10-0

Probably one of the most difficult game after summaries to write. So many layers to look at. This team was victorious over these teams-the number one seed in Group III, Burlington Twp, number one seed in Group IV RVRHS twice, previously undefeated Middletown North and Delware Valley and yet lost yesterday to Cherokee. Yes, Cherokee is a team who entered the game with a 9-6 record, but certainly NBC would have been considered the favorite. So, how does one explain a 10-0 loss while getting four hits? Was it the fatigue after a late game victory on Wednesday night and the fourth game in four days? Were the hounds looking past the game to a Friday night game against Bordentown? Was it just a day that can be chalked up to a general malaise that infiltrated the team? Not sure the answer. Of course the next question is, how do the coaches and players prepare for Friday night. As a result of a Bordentown victory over Burlington Township on Thursday, the dawgs have the opportunity to win the title outright with a win on Friday. It seems that given the history of Coach Corcoran and her handling of situations previously in her coaching career, that being positive and encouraging, supporting the players and allowing them to know that the coaching staff is totally in their corner is the path that will be taken. It is the belief in themselves, the confidence in knowing how truly talented and special they are, that will be the keys to success. To look back just two nights ago and to see the total exhilaration of a unified team as they snatched a victory is the memory that will be used to catapult this team on Friday and into the playoffs.
