HOUNDS SURGE INTO NEXT ROUND

NBC entered the playoffs as the number two seed facing the number 15 seed Hopewell Valley who had a 6-15 record during the regular season. The game was a 4 o’clock start with a spring day that finally brought sunshine to the region. The dawgs had been off since last Friday night when they defeated Bordentown for the division championship. The hounds were well rested after a hectic five games in five days. That being said the rain of the last several days had cancelled the last of the regular season games and had put a damper on the ability of the hounds to really get into true playoff mode. The rust didn’t seem to affect the hounds as they pounced on the scoreboard in the first inning with eight runs crossing the plate. The highlight of the inning was Haylei Archer who put another ball into the left field confines. Arch seems to hit two kinds of dingers. One is the majestical moon shot and the other is the line drive that seems to whistle through the air like a high speed train leaving the gate. This was the speeding train variety and firmly put the hounds up by a 4-0 score. Four more runs would score in the inning and after one it was a 8-0 lead. Arch was cruising and by the time the yappers came up to bat in the bottom of the second she had already rung up five K’s. Eight more runs in the bottom of the second would be more than enough runs to put this game to rest early. The final score of 16-0 was accompanied by 10 K’s in four innings of work for Arch.
NOTES-This was a game that early on showed the difference between the two teams. The hounds were their usual class act in victory as they made sure that they respected their foes and the bulldogs were quick to note how the hounds did not run up the score. Next up will be Westampton Tech. the number seven seed who defeated Nottingham to advance to the quarterfinals.
