Norwalk AA Babe Ruth to dedicate Championship Trophy

The Norwalk AA Babe Ruth Baseball League would like to acknowledge league founder John McGuirk who on this date in 1954 secured the original Norwalk Babe Ruth Charter. Mr. McGuirk became the first league president and remained an active member of the Norwalk sports community. Additional accomplishments include 248 wins as a professional boxer, was Boxing Commissioner for the State Athletic Commission, served three terms as a State Representative for the 139th District, was an elected Constable for 40 years and even after retirement, was named the state’s Sergeant in Arms by then Governor William O’Neill.

The upcoming 2013 season will be the 58th anniversary of Babe Ruth Baseball in Norwalk and The Norwalk AA Babe Ruth Baseball will honor Mr. McGuirk by naming its Championship Trophy after him. At the end of the 2013 season the winning teams will be handed the “Norwalk AA Babe Ruth John McGuirk Championship Trophy”.

Norwalk AA Babe Ruth Baseball is proud to honor one of its founding fathers and will continue to find ways to acknowledge the tireless work that board members, coaches, players and volunteers contribute to make Norwalk AA Babe Ruth Baseball successful each year.
