10:00am, Stars Baseball 17's Black 6, Triad Bulls 5 -- FINAL in 7 innings
Headline: Stars score 5 runs in the 6th to overcome 5-1 deficit
The Bulls welcomed Bryce Jarvis back for his first game with the team this season. Bryce was the Bulls starting pitcher today and pitched 5 strong innings for the Bulls.
The Bulls jumped out to an early lead with a run in the top of the first inning. Jay Dixon doubled to score Alec Widmer for the 1-0 lead.
The Bulls upped the lead to 4-0 with a 3-run 3rd inning. Bryce Jarvis got the big hit, a 2-run double to left center which scored Josh Byrd and Davis O'Brien. Alec Widmer followed that with a double of his own to score Jarvis and the 4-0 lead.
The Stars cut the Bulls lead to 4-1 in the bottom of the 5th.
The Bulls went up 5-1 in the top of the 6th on Nathan Harrell's double that scored Jay Dixon.
Things then fell apart for the Bulls in the bottom of the 6th with Davis O'Brien relieving Bryce Jarvis and the Stars rallied for 5 runs and a 6-5 lead. Critical play was Bulls failure to get an out at first base on a sac bunt.
The Bulls could not mount a rally (3 up, 3 down) in the top of the 7th and the Stars win 6-5.

Wednesday - July 22
at NC State
10:00am Triad Bulls 3, New Jersey Marlins Scout 17U 1 -- FINAL, 6 innings
HEADLINE: Alec Widmer reels in Marlins with complete game 3-hitter. Bryce Jarvis gets Bulls off to good start with RBI triple in the 1st inning!
The Bulls grabbed the early lead today when Davis O'Brien walked to lead off and Bryce Jarvis tripled to bring him home. Bryce later scored on Alec Widmer's groundball to shortstop and Marlin error. At the end of 1 inning, Bulls 2, Marlins 0.
The game stayed at 2-0 until the bottom of the 3rd when Jay Dixon singled to score Bryce Jarvis (who had walked). That would do it for the Bulls in the scoring column.
The Marlins cut the Bulls lead to 3-1 in the top of the 5th inning, but Alec Widmer and the Bulls defense had a strong finish to close out the game.
Bulls pitching: Alec Widmer threw a complete game and allowed only 3 hits. Widmer allowed 1 run, struck out 6 and walked 3. Great job Alec!!

Thursday - July 23
at Louisburg
9:00am Triad Bulls 7, FBI Fungo 17's 0 -- FINAL in 7 innings
Headline: Nathan Harrell tosses 3-hit, 10 K complete game shutout. Craig Colbourne homers! O'Brien/Colbourne/Lumley - 2 hits each!
After a 3 hour and 45 minute rain delay, the game finally started at 12:45pm. The game was a pitchers dual for the first four innings and at the end of the 4th, the game was tied 0-0. Nathan Harrell on the hill for the Bulls.
The Bulls struck first in the top of the 5th when McKay Chamberlain doubled in his first game with the Bulls to drive in Isaac Campbell. Chamberlain later scored on Alec Widmers ground ball to third base and Fungo error.
In the top of the 6th, Craig Colbourne smashed one over the right center wall for a Bulls 3-0 lead. Josh Byrd hit a 2-run single to score Nathan Harrell and Devin Lumley for a 5-0 lead.
The Bulls added a couple of insurance runs in the top of the 7th. Davis O'Brien (who had singled) scored on a wild pitch to Devin Lumley. Ryan Harrell doubled to score Craig Colbourne and a 7-0 lead.
Bulls pitching: Nathan Harrell pitched a brilliant game. Nathan threw a complete game shutout, allowed only 3 hits on the day and struck out 10 and walked none! Ryan Harrell had a great game defensively at shortstop. Ryan had 5 assists on groundball outs and 2 putouts on flyouts.

Friday - July 24
at NC State University
6:20pm Richmond Braves 16's National 9, Triad Bulls 7 -- FINAL, 5 innings
Headline: Craig Colbourne lead Bulls at the plate with 3-3, 3 RBI night.
The Braves started the game with 2 runs in the top of the first inning and 1 more in the second for a 3-0 lead.
In the bottom of the 2nd inning, Ryan Harrell and Nathan Harrell started the inning with back to back doubles (Nathan's scoring Ryan) and cut the Braves lead to 3-1. The Bulls loaded the bases and Davis O'Brien and Alec Widmer drew back-to-back bases loaded walks to tie the game at 3-3. With 2 outs and bases still loaded, Craig Colbourne hit a bases-clearing double to left center (scoring Chamberlain, O'Brien and Widmer) and the Bulls took a 6-3 lead at the end of the second inning.
The hard hitting Braves kept pounding the ball and tied the game up in the top of the 3rd with 3 runs. 6-6.
In the top of the 4th, the Braves added 2 more runs for a 8-6 lead.
The Bulls cut the lead to 8-7 in the bottom of the 4th when Davis O'Brien scored on Devin Lumley's ground ball to shortstop.
The Braves upped the lead to 9-7 in the top of the 5th. The Bulls were unable to rally in the bottom of the 5th and the game ended due to time limit.

at Louisburg
10:00am Triad Bulls 2, Oriole's Scout Team 1 -- FINAL, 7 innings
Headline: Davis O'Brien throws complete game! Devin Lumley doubles in tying run. Alec Widmer doubles in winning run.
The Orioles jumped out to the early lead with a run in the bottom of the 1st inning. However, that would be the only run of the game thanks to good pitching and great defense the rest of the game.
Going to the 3rd inning, the Bulls were able to tie the game at 1-1 when Devin Lumley doubled to score McKay Chamberian, who was pinch running for pitcher Davis O'Brien, who had walked.
In the top of the 5th inning, McKay Chamberlain singled to start the inning. O'Brien moved him over with a ground out to 3B. Alec Widmer then hit a double down the left field line to score Chamberlain with what proved to be the winning run!
Bulls pitching: Davis O'Brien threw a complete game for the Bulls, allowed 7 hits, allowed 1 run, walked 1 and struck out 3. Nice game Davis!!

1:40pm Triad Bulls 5, Carolina Rockies 17's Gray 4 -- FINAL 6 innings
Headline: Alec Widmer 2-3 with 3 RBI's leads Bulls at plate. Isaac Campbell big day on the hill for win.
The Rockies scored first in the bottom of the first inning to take a 1-0 lead.
The Bulls responded in the top of the 2nd with 3 runs to go up 3-1. Nathan Harrell scored on Davis O'Brien's infield ground ball and Rockie error. Alec Widmer followed that with a 2-run double to score Nathan Harrell and Drew Tiano.
The Bulls added a run in the top of the 4th for a 4-1 lead. Jay Dixon's swinging bunt base hit down the third base line scored Josh Byrd.
The Rockies mounted a comeback and scored 3 bottom 5th runs to tie the game at 4-4.
The Bulls went up 5-4 in the top of the 6th when Alec Widmer's infield ground ball scored Nathan Harrell for the game winning run.
The Bulls held the Rockies scoreless in the bottom of the 6th and the game ended due to time limit.
Bulls pitching: Isaac Campbell threw a complete game, allowed only 6 hits, 2 earned runs, struck out 8 and walked 5.

The Bulls survived a couple of controversial calls. A Bulls sac fly tag at 3rd base was wiped out when the umpire ruled that the runner had left early .... And a critical balk call that allowed a Rockies runner to score from 3rd and tie the game was disputed heavily by Coach Larry.

7:20pm Triad Bulls 4, Diamond Elite 18's 2 -- FINAL 7 innings
Headline: Colbourne and N.Harrell get 2 hits each. Alec Widmer solid on the hill with a complete game 7-hitter and 7 K's.
The game was scoreless after 3 innings of a pitchers dual.
Diamond Elite struck first with a run in the top of the 4th inning.
The Bulls responded and tied the game in the bottom of the 4th. Alec Widmer doubled to start the inning. His pinch runner, Davis O'Brien scored on a wild pitch to Craig Colbourne.
In the bottom of the 5th inning, the Bulls took a 2-1 lead when Davis O'Brien singled to score Nathan Harrell.
Diamond Elite, tied the game at 2-2 with a run in the top of the 6th inning.
The Bulls scored the go-ahead run in the bottom of the 6th when Ryan Harrell singled to score Jay Dixon. The Bulls got a big insurance run when Craig Colbourne scored on a wild pitch to Nathan Harrell.
The Bulls were able to hold Diamond Elite scoreless in the top of the 7th and the Bulls win 4-2.
Bulls pitching: Alec Widmer had a great day on the mound. Alec threw all 7 innings, allowed only 2 runs on 5 hits, walked 3 and struck out 7. Nice job Alec!!

The Bulls jumped on the Chirps early with a 2-runs in the bottom of the 1st inning. Davis O'Brien scored on Jay Dixon's ground ball to shortstop. Alec Widmer scored on a bases loaded walk to Nathan Harrell.
The Bulls added 7 runs in the bottom of the 2nd for a 9-0 lead. Back-to-back doubles by Josh Byrd and Drew Tiano made it 3-0 Bulls. Craig Colbourne hit a 2-run single to score O'Brien and Tiano. (5-0). Colbourne scored on a wild pitch for a 6-0 lead. Jay Dixon scored on a bases loaded walk to Isaac Campbell (7-0). Josh Byrd hit his 2nd double of the inning to score Widmer and Ryan Harrell (9-0).
The Bulls got a bottom 3rd inning run when Craig Colbourne singled to score Alec Widmer. (10-0 Bulls).
Needing 2 runs to end the game early in the bottom of the 4th, the Bulls got 'em. After back-to-back walks to the Harrell brothers, Ryan scored on a wild pitch to Isaac Campbell. (11-0). With 1-out and Nathan Harrell on 3B, Drew Tiano's sac fly to center field scored Nathan for the game ending run.
Bulls pitching: Nathan Harrell started the game and threw the first 3 innings. Nathan allowed 0 runs, 1 hit, walked none and struck out 2. Jay Dixon threw a nice inning in the 4th. Jay allowed 0 runs, 0 hits, walked none and struck out 1. Nice game Bulls pitchers!!

Headline: Dirtbags Forfeit!
With the field running behind schedule and no lights on this field, this game with the Dirtbags was being moved to Marion, NC but we were informed that the Dirtbags would not be making the trip, so the Bulls win with a 7-0 forfeit.
Bulls finish pool play with a 4-0 record and advance to Sunday's final four as the #1 seed.

Sunday - July 19
at Western Carolina
Final Four: 11:20am - #4 seed TPA Athletics 17's 5, #1 seed Triad Bulls 3 -- FINAL 7 innings
Headline: Bulls unable to overcome 4-run second inning by TPA. Ryan Harrell and Drew Tiano (2 RBI's) lead Bulls at the plate with 2 hits each
TPA scored 4 runs in the top of the 2nd inning and that proved to be too much for the Bulls to overcome.
TPA increased their lead to 5-0 in the top of the 4th. However, the Bulls began to rally. Drew Tiano came to bat with the bases loaded. Craig Colbourne scored on a wild pitch and then Drew Tiano got a big 2-run single down the left field line to score Jay Dixon and Isaac Campbell. TPA lead now only 5-3.
At the end of the 6th inning, the umpires tried to call the game with 7 minutes still on the clock (no new inning after 2 hours). The umps were applying pool play rules, which were no new inning after 1 hour and 50 minutes. After a lot of hollaring and yelling and some phone calls, they finally let us play the 7th inning!
The Bulls mounted a 7th inning threat by loading the bases, but some good pitching by TPA kept the Bulls from scoring and the game ended with TPA winning 5-3.

Tournament - July 10-12, 2015
IMPACT Baseball welcomes 46 teams to the Triad region of North Carolina for some great baseball action over the July 10-12 weekend.

Friday - July 10 - at UNC-Greensboro
2:00 Steel City Wildcats (PA) 4, Triad Bulls 0 -- FINAL in 7 innings
Headline: Widmer/Lumley/Byrd/R.Harrell get Bulls only hits. Campbell and R.Harrell throw 5-hitter.
The Bulls faced a tough team from PA today. According to their website, the Wildcats came into this game with a 16-1-1 record. 4 of their players are college commits (Kitchen - Coastal Carolina, Tassone - George Mason, D'Orazio - Pittsburgh and Platt - W&J (Washington and Jefferson)). The Wildcats also threw a pitcher, #33 (Reicoff) who came into our game with a 5-0 record and .70 ERA for the season.
The Bulls had some opportunities in the game ... getting the leadoff batter on in 4 of the 7 innings, but were unable to move those runners around. The Bulls stranded 8 base runners on the day.
The Wildcats were able to scratch out a run here and there ... one in the 1st, 2 in the second and 1 in the 4th. The Wildcats made all the tough plays in the field to help hold the Bulls scoreless.
Bulls pitching: Isaac Campbell and Ryan Harrell held the Wildcats to only 5 hits for the game. Campbell started the game and threw 4 innings, allowed 3 earned runs on 5 hits, walked 4 and struck out 5. Ryan Harrell came in to throw the final 3 innings. Ryan allowed 0 hits, 0 runs, walked 1 and struck out 2. Nice job Ryan keeping the game tight down the stretch.

Saturday - July 11 at West Stokes
11:20 Triad Bulls 10, DLA Heat 17's 2 -- FINAL in 6 innings
Headline: Davis O'Brien throws 4 hit complete game and K's 4. Isaac Campbell hits 2-run Homer! 4 Bulls have 2 hits each: O'Brien, Widmer, Dixon and R.Harrell.
After 2 scoreless innings to start the game, the Bulls scored 3 in the top of the 3rd inning. Jay Dixon's double to the base of the wall in center field scored Drew Tiano and Alec Widmer. Dixon later scored from 3rd on a pickoff attempt that went bad.
The Bulls added 3 fourth inning runs. Ryan Harrell scored on Josh Byrd's infield ground ball and Heat error. Isaac Campbell hit a blast over the center field wall for a 2-run homer to score Byrd and himself and a Bulls 6-0 lead.
The Heats got hot in the bottom of the 4th and #6 hit his own blast over the center field wall to cut the Bulls lead to 6-2.
In the top of the 5th, Devin Lumley's sac fly scored Jay Dixon for a 7-2 lead. Craig Colbourne scored on a wild pitch to Josh Byrd for a Bulls 8-2 lead.
In the top of the 6th, the Bulls scored their final 2 runs. Jay Dixon Singled to score Drew Tiano. Craig Colbourne's single score Alec Widmer for a 10-2 lead.
Bulls pitching: Davis O'Brien threw a complete game. Davis pitched all 6 innings, allowed 4 hits, 2 earned runs, walked 3 and struck out 4.

Headline: Alec Widmer throws complete game 2 hitter! Ryan Harrell leads Bulls at the plate with 3-3 day (double and 2 RBI's).
The Bulls started the game with a walk (O'Brien), single (Widmer), hit by pitch (Dixon) and then Craig Colbourned walked for the first Bulls run of the game (O'Brien). With 1 out, Ryan Harrell singled home Jay Dixon and pinch-runner Drew Tiano (running for Widmer) and a Bulls 3-0 lead.
The Bulls stayed hot in the 2nd inning. Alec Widmer's sac fly scored Josh Byrd for a 4-0 lead. Craig Colbourne drew his second consecutive bases loaded walk to score Isaac Campbell and a 5-0 lead.
The Bulls final run of the game came in the top of the 3rd when Ryan Harrell scored on Drew Tiano's infield ground ball.
Tri-State broke up Alec Widmer's no-hitter in the top of the 6th and that runner eventually scored for Tri-State's only run of the day.

4:00 Triad Bulls 17's 8, Kernersville Bulldogs 17's 4 -- FINAL, 7 innings
Headline: Nathan Harrell throws complete game to handle Bulldogs. Isaac Campbell hits another HR. O'Brien and Colbourne - 2 hits each!
The Bulls jumped on the Bulldogs early with 4 runs in the bottom of the 1st inning. Davis O'Brien led off the game with a double and scored on Craig Colbourne's single. Devin Lumley hit a 2-run single that scored pinch runner Drew Tiano (running for Jay Dixon) and Alec Widmer. Ryan Harrell then doubled home Craig Colbourne for a 4-0 lead.
The Bulls stayed hot in the 2nd inning. Isaac Campbell led off the inning with a solo homer to center field. Alec Widmer singled off the right field fence to score Drew Tiano (who had doubled). Craig Colbourne then doubled to score Davis O'Brien and Alec Widmer for a 8-0 lead.
Bulldogs pitcher Dawson Cagle settled down after a slow start in the 2nd inning and held the Bulls scoreless the rest of the way.
The Bulldogs attempted to rally from their 8 run deficit and knocked a couple of balls out of the park, but 4 runs were all they could get to cut into the Bulls lead.
Bulls pitching: Nathan Harrell pitched a strong game. Nathan allowed 4 runs on 8 hits, walked 1 and struck out 4. Nathan did a great job down the stretch holding the Bulldogs scorless in the 6th and 7th innings after they had rallied to withing 8-4.

Friday, July 3rd
10:45am, Triad Bulls 9, Carolina Reds 17's 4 FINAL
Headline: Dixon and Colbourne: 2 hits each. O'Brien and Lumley combine on 6-hitter.
After a scoreless first inning, the Bulls struck first with 2 runs in the top of the 2nd. Josh Byrd's double down the left field line scored 2 runners: Ryan Harrell (who had earlier doubled) and pinch runner Craig Colbourne (running for Devin Lumley).
In the bottom of the 3rd, the Reds tied the game up with 2 runs. (2-2).

In the second game of the day, the Bulls played RBA (Richmond Batting Academy) in pretty miserable weather. Just like in the first game, the Bulls played through on and off rain and cold. (yes, even though it's July, it was cold up in Boone.)
The Bulls batted first and took a 1-0 lead when pinch runner Davis O'Brien (running for pitcher Alec Widmer, who had doubled) scored on a wild pitch to Craig Colbourne.
The Bulls added a 2nd inning run when Nathan Harrell doubled to score his brother Ryan (the Bro-to-Bro combo) for a 2-0 Bulls lead.
In the 3rd inning, the Bulls scored a 3rd run. Devin Lumley's single scored pinch runner Davis O'Brien (again running for the pitcher Alec Widmer, who had walked).
Heading to the top of the 5th and the Bulls holding the 3-0 lead, the Bulls exploded for a 7 run inning. Inning highlights included: Josh Byrd single to score Devin Lumley. Isaac Campbell single to score Ryan Harrell and Davis O'Brien single to score Josh Byrd.
In the top of the 6th inning, Ryan Harrell blasted a shot over the left field wall for a solo HOME RUN!!!
Bulls pitching: Alec Widmer had a great day on the mound. Alec threw a complete game (7 innings) and allowed 0 runs on 7 hits. Alec struck out 5 and walked only 1. Great game Alec!!

The Bulls faced a good Virgina Reds team with lots of good hitters. The Reds went up 1-0 in the top of the 1st, bu the Bulls responded with a 4 run bottom of the 1st. Craig Colbourne hit a 3-run triple down the right field line to score Davis O'Brien, Alec Widmer and Jay Dixon. Devin Lumley's sac fly scored Colbourne for a Bulls 4-1 lead after 1 inning.
Both teams scored 3 runs in the 2nd inning. The Bulls runs came from a Davis O'Brien single to score Josh Byrd. An infield ground ball error allowed O'Brien to score and Craig Colbourne's single score Alec Widmer. At the end of 2, Bulls 7, Reds 4.
The Reds kept the game tight with 2 runs in the top of the 5th to cut the Bulls lead to 7-6.
The Bulls got a big insurance run in the bottom of the 5th when Ryan Harrell doubled to score Craig Colbourne and an 8-6 lead.
The game did not make it to the 7th inning due to 2-hour drop-dead time limit.
Bulls pitching: Isaac Campbell pitched all 6 innings! Isaac allowed only 6 hits and 3 earned runs. Isaac did a great job in the to shut down the Reds who knew that would most likely be their final at bat.

After a scoreless first inning and GBC taking a 1-0 lead in the top of the 2nd inning, the Bulls ERUPTED for 11 runs in the bottom of the 2nd. With the bases loaded, Josh Byrd got things rolling with a triple to the wall in right center scoring Craig Colbourne, Alec Widmer and Jay Dixon. When GBC missed the cutoff man, Josh trotted in for run number 4 on the play. Alec Widmer's fielders choice scored Matty Edwards. Jay Dixon singled to score Davis O'Brien. Devin Lumley hit a double that barely missed one hopping the fence to score Jay Dixon and Alec Widmer. A couple of bases loaded walks to Nathan Harrell and Josh Byrd scored Davis O'Brien and Craig Colbourne. Isaac Campbell's sac fly scored Ryan Harrell.
The Bulls increased the lead to 14-0 when Isaac Campbell tripled to score Ryan Harrell and Craig Colbourne. Matty Edwards infield ground ball and GBC error allowed Isaac Campbell to score. At the end of 4, Bulls up 14-1.
The Bulls final run scored in the 6th inning when doubled to score Craig Colbourne. Josh's blast landed at the bottom of the fence on the fly.
Bulls pitching: Nathan Harrell pitched a great game, holding GBC to only 5 hits and 2 runs. Nathan struck out 11 and walked none!

The Bulls jumped out to a 5-0 lead with 5 runs in the top of the 1st inning. Ryan Harrell doubled to score Alec Widmer for a 1-0 lead. Nathan Harrell's infield ground ball scored Craig Colbourne for a 2-0 lead. Josh Byrd's double scored Ryan Harrell (up 3-0). Isaac Campbell doubled to score Josh Byrd (4-0 lead) and Drew Tiano's infield ground ball scored Campbell.
The Bulls added a 2nd inning run when Matty Edwards scored on a wild pitch to Craig Colbourne. End of 2, Bulls up 6-0.

The Cannon's cut the lead to 4-1 with a 4th inning run.
The Bulls broke the game open in the top of the 5th with 4 runs to go up 8-1. Matty Edwards hit his second consecutive RBI single, this time scoring Josh Byrd. Alec Widmer singled to score Isaac Campbell. Ryan Harrell scored on a wild pitch to Craig Colbourne and then Craig knocked in Davis O'Brien with a single.
The Cannon's kept firing and scored 2 in the bottom of the 5th to cut the Bulls lead to 8-3.
In the top of the 6th, the Bulls scored their final run when Drew Tiano's infield ground ball scored Josh Byrd.
Matty Edwards shut 'em down in the bottom of the 6th to end the game.

The Bulls gave up an unearned run in the top of the 1st inning to fall behind 1-0.
However, the On Deck lead was short lived, as Jay Dixon's flyball to RF could not be handled by the On Deck right fielder, and pinch runner Matty Edwards and Alec Widmer scored to put the Bulls up 2-1.
The Bulls increased the lead to 3-1 in the bottom of the 2nd when Davis O'Brien's single scored Isaac Campbell.
The Bulls went up 4-1 in the bottom of the 4th when Davis O'Brien hit his 2nd consecutive RBI single, again scoring Isaac Campbell.
In the bottom of the 5th inning, the Bulls plated 4. Nathan Harrell singled to score Jay Dixon. Ryan Harrell scored on Josh Byrd's infield ground ball. Isaac Campbell tripled to score Josh Byrd and Isaac Campbell scored on a wild pitch to Matty Edwards.

The Bulls scored the first run of the game in the top of the 1st inning when Jay Dixon tripled to score Craig Colbourne.
The big inning of the day for the Bulls came in the 2nd when the Bulls put a big 8 on the board. Isaac Campbell singled to score Josh Byrd. Alec Widmer had a 2-run triple to score Matty Edwards and Josh Byrd (pinch runner for Isaac Campbell). Craig Colbourne tripled to score Widmer. Jay Dixon singled to score Colbourne. Ryan Harrell doubled to score pinch runner Davis O'Brien (running for Dixon) and finally, a 2-run single from Nathan Harrell scored Devin Lumley and Ryan Harrell.

The Bulls took the early lead with a first inning run. Alec Widmer singled and scored the Bulls lone run of the game when a ground ball was hit back to the pitcher and in the attempt to get the force out at second base, the ball ended up in center field and Widmer trotted home.
The Megastars tied the game in the bottom of the 2nd on a sac fly RBI.
With runners first and third in the bottom of the 4th, the Megastars took a 2-1 lead on a second base steal attempt and runner on 3rd coming home.
In the 5th inning, the Megastars strung together 2 hits and 3 walks to push 3 more runs across the plate and a 5-1 lead.
In the 6th inning, the Megastars hit a 2-out triple and followed that with a single for the final run of the game.
The Megastars pitcher, #11, Sam High threw a complete game, allowing only 2 hits, 1 walk, 1 run and struck out 11 Bulls.

The Bulls got stayed hot from the previous game and put up 3 quick runs in the bottom of the first inning. Craig Colbourne singled to score Davis O'Brien for a 1-0 lead. Ryan Harrell's 2-out double scored Alec Widmer and Colbourne for a 3-0 lead.
The Bulls missed out on 4th run in the 3rd inning when it appeared Craig Colbourne had touched the plate after Ryan Harrell's double, but the umpire ruled otherwise and the game stayed at 3-0.
The Dirtbags cut the lead to 3-2 with 2 unearned runs in the 4th inning.
The Bulls maintained the 3-2 lead thru the end of the 5th.
In the top of the 6th inning, the Dirtbags started the inning with a walk and the next batter doubled to bring in the tying run. The Dirtbags scored the go ahead run on a bunt in which the Bulls were unable to record an out. Ryan Harrell made a great diving grab at shortstop for Out 2 in the inning and that helped keep the Bulls in striking distance.
The Bulls looked like they might have a chance to keep the game alive, but Isaac Campbell's well hit ball to right field was tracked down by the Dirtbag right fielder who made a full speed over the shoulder basket catch
At the end of the 6th inning, the umpires clock showed game at 1 hour and 51 minutes, thus no new inning could begin and the game ended.

After a couple of scoreless innings, the Bulls struck first in the bottom of the 3rd. Davis O'Brien's ground out to shortstop scored Isaac Campbell who had doubled. O'Brien came in on Jay Dixon's single to left. Bulls up 2-0.
The Bulls got a 4th inning run when Craig Colbourne scored on a wild pitch to Nathan Harrell. Bulls up 3-0.
The Bulls final run scored in the 6th inning when the G-Hawks couldn't handle Josh Byrd's ground ball to shortstop and Ryan Harrell scored. Bulls up 4-0
The G-Hawks scored a run in the top of the 6th but the threat ended when the G-Hawk batter hit a ground ball to Jay Dixon at 3B, on to Craig Colbourne at 1B for the game ending play.
Dirtbags pitching: The committe did a nice job holding the G-Hawks to only 4 hits on the day. Matty Edwards pitched 2 strong innings to start the game and struck out 4 and allowed only 1 hit. Devin Lumley followed that with 2 strong innings. Lumley allowed 2 hits, 0 runs and struck out 2. Jay Dixon pitched the next 2 innings. Jay allowed only 1 hit and struck out 3. Davis O'Brien pitched the final inning and allow 0 earned run and 0 hits.

Playing at Pfeiffer University, the Bulls jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the top of the 2nd inning when Craig Colbourne led off the inning with a "hit by pitch". (ouch). Jay Dixon's double moved Colbourne to third. Ryan Harrell then hit a sac fly to bring home Colbourne and the 1-0 lead.
The game stayed at 1-0 Bulls until the top of the 6th! The inning started with 3 consecutive singles by Isaac Campbell, Josh Byrd and Matty Edwards. Davis O'Brien then walked to score Campbell and a 2-0 lead. Nathan Harrell's ground ball to shortstop scored Josh Byrd for a 3-0 lead.

HEADLINE: Campbell throws complete game and K's 11 and Dixon (2-2) and O'Brien (1-1) perfect from the plate!
The Bulls and the Rockies Gray faced off in the first game Sunday as both team won their pools on Saturday with 2-0 records.
After a couple of scoreless innings to start the game, the Bulls struck first in the bottom of the 3rd. Isaac Campbell led off the inning with a triple to center field. Josh Bird then singled to bring Campbell home and a 1-0 lead. Byrd later scored on a Rockies wild pitch and Bulls 2-0 lead at the end of the 3rd.
The game stayed at 2-0 Bulls until the top of the 7th when the Rockies scored on a bloop single to right center and cut the lead to 2-1. With the tying run on 3rd and 2 outs, Campbell got a ground ball hit to Nathan Harrell at second base and Nate scooped it up and threw to Craig Colboune at first base to end the game.
Bulls Pitching: Isaac Campbell pitched a great game for the Bulls. Isaac threw all 7 innings and allowed only 2 hits and 1 run. Isaac also struck out 11 Rockie batters!

1:00 Carolina Reds 3, Triad Bulls 1
The Bulls faced the Carolina Reds in the final game of the tournament.
The Reds struck first with 2 runs in the top of the 2nd inning. The Reds took advantage to 3 consecutive hits to put the first run on the board. The second run scored with two outs and the Bulls attempted to pick off a stealing Red. The runner was safe at 2B and the runner on 3rd came home during the pick-off attempt.
The only other Red's run in the game came on a Home Run in the top of the 4th inning and gave the Reds a 3-0 lead.
The Bulls came close to tying the game in the bottom of the 5th inning when with runners on 1st and 2nd and two outs, Craig Colbourne hit a blast to right field and the ball ended up just a "couple" of feet short of the fence and was caught by the Rockie right fielder to end the inning.
In the bottom of the 7th inning, the Bulls mounted another threat! The Bulls loaded the bases for Alec Widmer. Widmer hit a shot that looked like it was going to fall into the right center gap, but out of nowhere comes the Rockies right fielder to make a diving grab just inches off the ground. There was some confusion as to whether the ball had been caught or not and no visible signal from the umpire, so Josh Byrd scored the Bulls only run after tagging up and not knowing if the ball had been caught or not, the Bulls were then doubled up at 1B to end the game.
