Hannah Alexander singled and tripled on the way to three RBI, driving in the game-winning run in the bottom of the eighth inning to give Northern Burlington, No. 12 in the NJ.com Top 20, the win over fourth-ranked Middletown North, 3-2, in Columbus.

Haylei Archer pitched a four-hitter, striking out 16 and walking three while allowing two runs in the top of the fifth inning for Northern Burlington (2-2), which has had all four of its games this season decided by two runs or fewer.

Archer has been the pitcher for all four games, averaging 13.75 strikeouts per game while allowing two or fewer earned runs in each start.

Malori Bell allowed seven hits and three runs, striking out nine and walking two while earning the loss in the circle for Middletown North (7-1), which had won each of its first seven games to start the season by three runs or more.
