SPRING HILL--Elrosa scored 2 runs in the top of the 1st inning and never looked back as they hung on to a SCL North rivalry victory over the Chargers Sunday afternoon in Spring Hill. Jackson Peter led off the game with a walk and then came around to score 2 batters later when Ethan Mueller drove him home with an RBI double. Gavin Kampsen pushed Mueller to 3rd base on a single before Luke Dingmann drove home Mueller with an RBI single for the early 2-0 lead. Ashton Dingmann started on the mound and scattered four hits over 5 2/3 innings to get the win. Mueller came on in releif and struck out 8 Chargers to earn the 3 inning save. It was another classic rivalry game that saw the Saints leave 12 runners on base. Peter finished the day with 2 hits while drawing 2 walks and a hit by pitch. As a club, the navy and orange earned 7 walks for the contest. The win vs. the Chargers is the 2nd such victory in as many tries and is tied for the 3rd longest win streak in the historic rivalry. From 2016-2020 the Saints dominated the Chargers with 9 straight victories in the Keg trophy contest. Elrosa will step away from SCL play this weekend with 2 exhibition games. Saturday the Saints will travel to Raymond with 1st pitch slated for 3 p.m. and Sunday the Saints will host New London-Spicer at 1:30.
