ELROSA SAINTS

HINCKLEY-The Saints played some of their best ball of the summer this past weekend and came away with a 2nd place finish at the Hinckley Tourney. Elrosa pitchers were consistently throwing strikes and the navy and orange used some clutch hitting to earn victories over Anoka & Hinckley. Friday vs. Anoka, Elrosa used a Peyton Winter sac fly to walk off the Bucs 2-1. Will VanBeck had reached on a pinch hit single before advancing to 2nd on a wild pitch and then advanced to 3rd on Luke Illies' 2nd hit of the game. Winter then launched a deep sac fly to right field to earn the 2-1 victory. Ashton Dingman started on the bump and threw 5 solid inning before giving way to VanBeck who earned the win tossing 2 innings and and striking out 2 without allowing a hit.

Saturday, the Saints locked horns with Hinckley and came out with yet another walk-off win 3-2. Elrosa held a 1-0 lead into the 5th before Hinckley scored 2 to take the lead. In the 6th inning, the Saints answered with a run of their own to tie the game at 2. In the 7th, Peyton Winter started a 2 out rally with a double to get into scoring position and then Jackson Peter delivered the final blow with an RBI walk-off single to score Winter. Aiden Mueller was lights out over 4 innings allowing no hits and no walks while striking out 4 in another impressive start. Ethan Mueller then pitched the final 3 innings walking 4 and striking out 4 to gain the victory.

Sunday, the Saints would run out of steam as they fell to Buffalo 4-1 in the championship game. Wyatt S. grinded threw 6 innings and struck out 3 while only allowing 1 walk with 2 of the 4 runs being unearned. The Saints could only connect on 5 hits against the tough Bulldog pitching and left 6 runners on base. Thursday, Elrosa returns to SCL action with a 8 pm tilt against Roscoe in Elrosa.
