ELROSA--Crank up the Toby Keith and don't forget to mix in a little Martina! The Elrosa Saints started their July 4th weekend with a 10-0 mercy-rule victory over Roscoe Thursday night in Elrosa. Elrosa scored early and often as they tallied 3 runs in the first inning, and 2 more in the 2nd and 3rd innings to take a 7-0 commanding lead. Gavin Kampsen led a 13 hit attack with 3 hits of his own and also scored a run to pace the offense. Jackson Peter and Ethan Mueller each ripped 2 hits for Elrosa who stole 4 bases in the game. Peyton VanBeck earned his first win of the season on the bump as the young southpaw struck out 8 Rangers over 4 scoreless innings. Riley Meyer struck out 4 over 3 innings of work as the duo combined to limit Roscoe to 1 hit on the night! The Saints will now head into the Independence Day break at the top of the SCL North standings and the navy nine will resume action next Wednesday night when Avon visits the friendly confines of Gumby Bauer Stadium with first pitch scheduled for 6:30. Friday July 10th, the Saints will host New Munich under the lights in SCL North action.
