ELROSA--The Elrosa Saints picked up a key SCL North victory Friday night with a 5-4 come from behind win over New Munich. Both teams exchanged blows throughout the middle innings before the Silverstreaks scored 2 runs in the top of the 8th to take a 4-3 lead. Elrosa answered when it was needed and the ball didn't leave the infield. Jackson Peter led off with a walk and proceded to steal second base. Then with 2 outs and the Saints down to to their final out, Peter hustled and scored from 2nd base on a 2 out error to tie the game at 4. In extra innigs, Riley Meyer entered on the mound and shut the Streaks down. In the Saints half of the 10th inning, Luke Illies reached on a walk followed by 2 more base on balls from Aiden Mueller and Blaine Fischer to load the bases. Illies then scampered home on a wild pitch to give the Saints the 5-4 victory. Offensively, the Saints worked hard against New Munich starter Ty Reller who threw 9 solid innings. Elrosa drew 9 walks in the contest but left 12 runners on base. The navy and orange had 5 hits in the contest highlighted by Ethan Mueller's RBI double. Aiden Mueller struck out 8 hitters in 5 1/3 innings of mound work before giving way to Ashton Dingmann who struck out 4 in 3 plus innings of work. Meyer tossed a scoreless 10th inning to earn the win for the Saints. Elrosa looks to secure the SCL North crown this weekend when they host Meire Grove on Friday night and Greenwald on Saturday afternoon. The Saints need to win 1 of their 2 games next weekend to lock up the #1 seed for the SCL North playoffs.
