Lisle In-House Girls Softball: Lisle Lady Hawks

Lisle In-House Girls Softball, the Lisle Lady Hawks, welcomes girls of all ages to develop their skills and love of the game in a fun, team-oriented atmosphere. Each age group will divide into teams based on the number of girls at each age group. Each team will then be led by volunteer coaches through practices starting in early spring to develop individual and team skills. Girls will have the opportunity to work on proper mechanics for throwing, fielding and hitting, as well as learning the rules of the game. Each player will have the opportunity to play all positions, both infield and outfield, and if interested, develop as pitchers. In the older age groups, girls will continue to hone their skills as well as learn more strategic softball game play.

Girls are welcome to start and join the Lady Hawks at any age. During registration season (Jan-Feb), new and returning girls have the option to participate in weekly, indoor training sessions to develop fundamentals and begin working on their softball skills. This is a pay as you go opportunity (beyond registration fee) and is completely voluntary but is a great way to start getting ready for the season and to meet your soon to be teammates.

Uniforms are provided to each player: a softball jersey, softball pants and socks are provided by LBSB and are included in registration fees. Each girl is responsible to provide her own fielding glove and cleats. The team will provide bats, helmets and catcher’s gear; however, girls can use their own gear if it meets all league safety rules and regulations.

Lisle Lady Hawks teams will participate in regional league play during the spring/summer softball season. Depending on the age group, most teams will participate in the SWS (Southwest suburban) league, competing against other area in-house teams in their age division. The season consists of 20 regular season games, about half of which are home games and the remaining ‘away’ games located in the southwest/west suburbs of Chicago. Games begin in early May for 10U/12U and late May for 14U-18U and culminate with a season end tournament mid-July. Games are scheduled on weeknights and Saturdays, reserving an occasional Sunday if needed for make-ups due to weather. League rules apply and are fair to the girls in requiring all players the opportunity to play the field each game and continuous batting order provides all girls the opportunity to bat in the lineup every game.

Lisle In-House Girls teams may sometimes play a short fall season if there is enough interest and players to make a team at a specific age group. A fall season would consist of some practices and games from mid-August to mid-October.

PART TIME TRAVEL: At the directors/coach’s discretion, an age group may decide to form a part-time travel team at the culmination of the in-house season to continue play at a bit more competitive level by playing a few additional local fastpitch tournaments throughout July. Fees for the part-time travel team will be additional and determined by the extent and number of additional tournaments and families will be provided with details and fees prior to committing to the part-time travel team.

Lisle Travel Girls Softball: Lisle Slammers

“The Lisle Slammers are community full time travel teams focused on competitive level play for girls that want to develop and strengthen their physical skills in a positive team environment of sportsmanship and respect while playing the sport that they love.”

The Lisle Slammers are the girls travel softball program affiliated with Lisle Baseball-Softball.  The Slammers provide a more competitive experience for girls of all softball playing ages, 10U through 18U, ready to take their game and commitment to the next level. Each Slammers team is formed through an open tryout process in late July/early August in preparation for a year-long season of teamwork, competition and fun.

Lisle Slammer teams are funded directly by the team families, each player responsible for paying their team fees and contributing to some team fundraising. The Slammers host multiple home tournaments throughout the year and families volunteer their time and efforts to benefit and fundraise for their teams. Each age group teams determine their own fee structure based on the age, level of play and planned schedule. Team profiles are available for review prior to tryouts so families have the information on expectations, coach and team philosophies, fees and anticipated travel schedule for the full season.

Starting in August, teams will play a fall season consisting of team and player development through practices, friendly games and a few tournaments through mid-October. Indoor winter training starting in January keeps the girls busy 1-2x per week and the opportunity to hone offensive and defensive individual and team skills. The main spring/summer softball season begins in April, or June for HS age teams. Teams will play/practice weeknights with league play and friendly games, competing most weekends in competitive tournaments. Most team’s tournament travel is limited to within about an hour or so of Lisle with usually one or two out of town tournaments in the season.

Team profiles and highlights can be found on the Lisle Slammers website. Any questions on the teams or what travel softball is all about, please contact the girls travel director or the coaches listed with each team on the Slammers website!

Tryout dates and team information for the next season will be posted mid-summer.
