Power Rankings

June 1, 2021

.) Downtown Diamondbacks (3-0): What a start for this squad. They took down the 3-time NL regular season champions with a clean sweep. Knorp looked the most confident he’s ever been at the plate, and Jonah Heath is proving himself as one of the best #2 arms in the league. This team is going to be a problem for everyone on their schedule.

.)  Pacific Predators (2-1): Despite the lack of a bullpen, the Predators still can limit runs allowed for the majority of their games due to Ryan Kracht. He was in mid-season form against the Magic. This team also homered 6 times against a solid pitching staff, earning them the #2 spot in these rankings.

.)  Coastal Cobras (2-1): Fans of this franchise may feel snubbed to be sitting at #3. But due to the Cobras history of declining throughout the season, it’s hard to buy in to this team at this point. Baranoski definitely shows potential to be a star, and Drew Davis played well against the defending MLW champions. Time will tell if this squad is legit.

.) Midwest Mallards (2-1): Thanks to late game heroics, this squad can look back at their first series as a solid start. If Trevor Bonham can continue to play the way he did against the Wildcats in these next few series, the Mallards may be able to tally up a solid number of wins here in 2021. A standout number two pitcher will be key for these guys down the stretch.

.)   Great Lakes Gators (1-2): While a series loss was not what this team envisioned to kick-off their season, the Gators are still a team with a World Series repeat on their minds. Cheetam and Jorgenson looked rusty on the mound, and improvements are expected as the season progresses. Big series coming up against the Diamondbacks.

.)  Western Wildcats (1-2): The Cats could very well be a 2-1 team sitting much higher in these power rankings, but they fell one out short in a game they dominated for the most part. On a positive note, Jaxen Pearson proved to be a great selection for this team at #7 in this year’s draft, and the Cats now have one of the strongest lineups in this league. Expect them to rebound quickly.

.)  Eastern Eagles (0-3): Not a whole lot went right for the Eagles in their first outing. Daniel Schultz looked uncomfortable at the mound and at the plate, and with him struggling, the Eagles are going to have trouble winning games. A few wins in their next series are essential to keep their playoff hopes alive.

.)  Metro Magic (1-2): This team did win a game against a good Predators team, but they did it against Alec Warda and Rudy Ramirez – two guys that are far from "aces". The Magic need Jack Aigner back in their lineup to provide the spark that he always does. Based on their performance last year, this is still a good team sitting in last place.
