Do What You Love, Love What You Do: Sean Callahan’s ’14 Journey Into Professional Baseball
COLCHESTER, Vt. — Sean Callahan ’14 loves baseball and not just the love mixed with exhilaration that comes with striking out a batter or shutting down consecutive opponents in a bases loaded situation. Callahan, a Colchester Cannons alumnus and a standout pitcher during his American Legion baseball career, is taking online graduate courses and spending the weekdays as an accountant in southern New Hampshire while simultaneously fielding phone calls from prospective professional independent baseball league managers nationwide.
Cannons to host 2019 Vermont State Championship
The Colchester Cannons were awarded the host-site designation for the 2019 Department of Vermont American Legion Baseball Championship, the league announced in October 2017. Saddlemire Field at Colchester High School will serve as the primary venue, with Champlain Valley Union High School in Hinesburg aiding as the secondary field for the opening two days of competition.
What does this mean?
-This marks the Cannons' third time hosting a state tournament, but is the first to ever be held in Colchester, The Cannons previously served as hosts in 2009 and 2010, but Barre Recreation Field and Spartan Field at Castleton University, respectively, were the competition sites.
-The Championship returns to Chittenden County for the first time in more than 10 years. Hartford, Castleton, and Barre have each been the host towns since 2009.
