News

All 2018 FallBall participants are invited to participate in our Winter Batting Cage program in January and February.

When: Saturday Mornings from 10am-12Noon

Where: The Batting Cages at 190 Broadway, New Hyde Park (Industrial Buildings Behind Mineola HS)

Dates:

January: 1/12, 1/26

February: 2/2, 2/9

March: 3/2, 3/9

There will be no Cages on Holiday Weeks and Weekends: MLK, President Day, Winter Break

We may utilize TeamSnap to assign time slots. Stay tuned on details.  Typically batters will get 30-45 minute time slots, grouped by Age and/or Team.  Drop-off is advised as there is limited (albeit available) space for Parents.

Players will need their own Bat and Helmet.

What a great finish to a great Fall season!  Thank you all Coaches and Parents, and Thank you Mary, Amy and Avery for coordinating and and the barista.  Interestingly, the ORANGE slices were the clear winning choice (even over the Salted Caramel Hot Chocolate).

A few important housekeepers:

1) A white easton ballbag (Blue and red trim) was left from yesterday.  Contact Drew for pickup.

2) All 2018 FallBall players are included in winter batting cages.  Details out after Thanksgiving (we all need a little break).

3)  All 7th Grade and UP trying out for Middle School/High School in the Spring should plan om continuing GCAA into the Spring next year.  The program adjusts around Middle School schedules and the players get batting cage workouts going into Tryouts.

4) We will be adding in a regular Tournement program for 14U and then 16U age brackets and looking for a Tournement Director to help plan and schedule 2-3 per year.  (This is more involved then it sounds so don’t volunteer lightly!)

Thank you all again and have a great Fall!

Fall Ball "Skills and Scrimmages" Program is a relaxed and fun atmosphere to keep Players engaged, and improve their Skills and Teamwork, for Grades 4th Grade and Higher (4th grade in the Fall, with limited exceptions on request for 3rd graders ready for Player pitch.)

The FallBall program is designed to be a comprehensive off-season skill building program that maximizes fun, and minimizes overlap with other Fall Sports.  There’s no better place to be on a beautiful Fall Day than playing Ball in a low stress, high fun environment.  Nothing is mandatory, Players are encouraged to participate where they can, when they can, while focusing on their skill development.   Clinics focus on specific mechanics, Scrimages focus on Defensive Team Play, and Batting Cages are purely for hitting.

*** Updated 1/12/18 Winter Batting cage Notes

GCAA Fall Softball participants: Winter Batting Cages begin Saturday Jan 20th for all players who participated in GCAA Fall program.

A Few key points:

Where: The Batting Cage
190 Broadway, New Hyde Park (Garden City Park) next to Synergy Gym

When: Saturdays Mornings
January 20 through March 24th 10am-Noon window.
       10:00am - 10:45am: 8th graders
       10:15am - 11:00am: 7th graders
       10:30am - 11:15am: 6th graders
       10:45am - 11:30am: 5th graders
       11:00am - 11:45am: 4th graders
        11:15am - 11:55am 3rd Graders

These slots are GUIDANCE. Flip flopping time slots is fine so log as we dont get too crowded.

Eight Saturdays:
(No Cages the two Saturdays over Winter Break)

What to bring:
Helmet, Bat and water.
Batting only, there will be no Pitching  clinics indoors this Winter.

Its not mandatory to make all cage dates, as getting to 4-5 sessions will be effective. Players can stay for 30-60 minutes during their time slots, its entirely up to up to you.  This should be a parent drop-off as it gets very crowded in the cage with just enough room for players and coaches.

Winter 2018 Batting Cage notes

Its approaching that time of year where GCAA softball moves into our indoor winter home!   We may use Team Snap in January to spread batters around differing time slots.

WHO:  All Fall Ball ‘17 Softball Players   No registration required for current 2017 GCAA Fall Softball participants, all Fees covered with Fall registrations.  A limited number of extra slots may be opened up for new participants.

WHEN:  Saturday Mornings beginning January 20th and ending March 24th  No holiday weekend Saturdays

1/20, 1/27, 2/3, 2/10, 3/3, 3/10, 3/17, 3/24

10am - 11am slot : see above

11am - 12pm slot : see above

WHERE: Long Island Batting Cages at 190 Broadway, New Hyde Park/GC Park  right next to Synergy Gym

This is completely optional and players may come to as many or as few Saturdays as preferred. Players need their own Helmet and Bat.   This is an informal program where every player will cycle through the cage 2-3 times per session.  Players can come for 20 min or as long as an hour;  30-40 min seems to be best for attention span.   It is crowded and parents are asked not to stay inside for the duration of the time slot, so keep that in mind as you plan times, and a drop off is preferred. Car pool if possible.  Adult/coach supervision will be there entire time slots.

Saturday October 28th Games:  PLEASE LOG INTO TEAMSNAP AND UPDATE YOUR ANTICIPATED AVAILABILITY.

This Saturday, we will be playing all games AWAY.  All teams wear same uniforms as last weekend.

10U and 12U games Scheduled at South Field of Theodore Roosevelt Park in Oyster Bay, on West End Avenue, Oyster Bay.

7th - 8th Graders:  Tentative Game on Saturday vs Carle Place, however, I give this a 50% chance of happening and likely this group will be OFF this Saturday.

3rd, 4th, 5th and 6th Graders:

    1. 12U Team will play FIRST on Saturday October 28th, at 1:30PM please arrive at 1:00PM please.

    2. 10U Team will play SECOND on Saturday at 3:30PM, arrive at 3:00PM please.

    3. Some Players are assigned to both the 12U and 10U teams this Saturday, and might play 2 games back-to-back.  The Field and Location are the same
