REFUND POLICY BELOW..
As a program while we have remained optimistic and have been prepared to start the season at a moments notice, elements beyond our control have minimized that window of opportunity. This evening 20 of our 22 members of our Board of Directors met via video conference. It comes with a heavy heart, but we have decided to cancel the 2020 spring intramural season.
We take some comfort in knowing that your children will not find out from a posting on the internet, but will be finding out from their parent(s).
We know as parents ourselves, that this is just another blow to these kids that want to have some sense of normalcy to their lives. As a board, we are trying to be creative and as time goes by, we will try and see if we can conduct some clinics for the players. Maybe even some type of HomeRun Derby or other contests players can compete in as a Fund Raiser for Massapequa Families in need.
With the cancelling of our season, we will gear up for our well established fall ball season, that saw 550 Massapequa kids take the field in 2019. In time, we will be in touch with our plans for the fall ball baseball season.
As for your paid registration fees for 2020, please see below:
Little League International wants their chartered programs to formulate a credit and or where feasable a partial refund policy for its membership. This policy is at the sole discretion of each program, but we are trusted to be transparent with the policy and create a policy that allows the program to continue with proper funding so that we can continue into a fall 2020 season and spring 2021 season.
As a result, the MCLL Executive Board has created a credit and or refund policy. This is one that has taken all into consideration, so that the MCLL can give as much back to our registrants, while still maintaining funding to be able to go forth with a fall and or spring 2021 season, whichever comes first. More importantly a policy if for argument sakes all requested a refund, the amount we could afford before completely depleting our league fund.
In consideration of this policy, we had to take into consideration two key components. The first being what if everyone wanted a refund, what could the program afford and whatever the refund policy was, maintain its consistenty throughout our registrants.
In working up this policy, we had to take into account that as a program, we had already spent over 60 thousand dollars on baseballs, uniforms, equipment, field improvements, charter fees, insurance and miscellaneous items for the 2020 season. In consideration of this, while we can use almost all of those items for 2021, we no longer have those funds and that money is in the hands of our vendors and gear as described who were paid in full.
In addition, we want all to understand that MCLL is a Not for Profit and while many Not for Profits have salaried employees to maintain their operations, the MCLL Board of Directors does not receive any salary or expense money as the MCLL Board of Directors is a 100% Volunteer Effort. I note this, as unlike a business we do not have areas where we can make cuts to free up additional monies.
2020 Massapequa Coast Little League Spring Intramural Credit/Refund Policy:
1 - Any player registered for the 2020 spring intramural season, will receive a 100% Credit towards their next season of play. Which can either be the Fall 2020 Baseball Season or the 2021 Spring Intramural Season. Even though the fee for the fall or spring season will in most cases be more expensive, the 2020 credit will cover all fees for either of those seasons. Those that wish to have a credit, need to do nothing and we will automatically carry it over in our database for next seasons. Registrants can also opt to donate their 2020 Reg Fee to the program. If you opt to make a donation, just email me with that intention.
2 - Players who are assigned to the Seniors Division and are Little League 16 this year and are not eligible to play in our Fall or Spring 2021 season will get a Full Refund. This effects 22 players in our program who will have aged out of our program.
3 - Players who request a refund upon cancellation of the Spring 2020 season, will receive 75% of their paid 2020 registration fee. Those that request a refund will have to send in a refund form that the MCLL will furnish.
4 - Sponsors will be given 3 options.
a) Their 2020 sponsorship donated to the program
b) Their 2020 sponsorship rolled over to the 2021 spring season
c) A refund, minus the cost of jerseys that were already printed up and for the Platinum Sponsors, if our banner maker already created their banner for the Majors Field, the cost of the banner to be deducted too.
For those that will be requesting a refund, the refund form will be posted on our www.MCLL.net website directly on our websites welcome page by May 22nd. The captions will be brief and you will simply fill out and you can email the document as directed on the form.
On behalf of the MCLL Board of Directors.
