Northeast Eagles Peewee C Captured B Division at Andrew Ryan Tournament

The Northeast Eagles C team capped off a great season with a Championship win at the Andrew Ryan Memorial Tournament this weekend going undefeated in their B Division. The championship game was a repeat game against Exploits valley who were definitely ready to get revenge after Fridays 7-4 loss. Exploits came out strong and the game was tight after two periods tied at one a piece. Midway thru the third period Andrew Sharpe broke the dead lock netting a nice goal in tight and Kyle Evans sealed the deal late in the third… Eagles win 3-1. Jesse Hanlon went thru the tourney with a goals against average of 0.00… Coming in midway thru every game and shutting the door. A great way to end the season… way to go guys.

NORTHEAST Bantam C Wins Silver in Botwood

Congratulations to the Bantam C Team for a fine showing in Botwood, bringing home the silver medal. It was not an easy road to the finals as an opening game loss to the host team meant they would need to go undefeated in their remaining games. The game of the tournament, a gutsy 1-0 victory over the Fogo -Change Island Team, would set up a rematch in the Gold Medal game. The Gold Medal match proved to be another barn burner as the Northeast Eagles gained the lead 4 times only to have the Fogo – Change Island team tie the game each time. The teams entered the 3rd period tied at 4 with Fogo – Change Islands taking the lead midway through the period and hanging on for a 5 - 4 win.
The players and coaches would like to thank the team sponsors and parents for their support through the hockey season.
The coaches would like to thanks the players for their hard work and dedication.

Northeast Eagles PeeWee C Win Silver in ALL NL

Going undeafted heading into game 5 vs the local undeafted Beothics team... home ice was on the line. Winning (sort of) 4-1 but losing Kyle Auchinleck in the process in a very heated, physical game. The stage was set for a very intense game for the gold. The Beothic team came out strong up 3-1 after the first. North East battled back tieing it in the second. The third was marked by exceptional saves on the both sides with the score tied at 5. With 2:06 left North East received a penalty squashing the moementium they were riding going late in the third period. Heading into over time emotions were high and the crowd was loud. Thirty seconds into the 4th period number 18 crashed the net hard sending himslef, the puck and Jesse into the net knocking off the post in the process... GOAL! Game over.

Our Northeast kids played with passion, respect and heart and represented Northeast very well. Thanks to all the parents and supporters throughout the tournament.

NORTHEAST Bantam B Receives Silver

It was a close series between St. John's and Northeast . A victory for St. John's in game one, was followed by a shoot out victory for Northeast in game two of the series. Game Three was a great contest between the two teams, with all the players playing an excellent game for both teams. The game was scoreless until the last two minutes of the third when St. John's scored and took the lead 1-0, the Eagles battled to even the score but an open net goal resulted in a silver medal for the Eagles. The game was hard fought and either team could have won the titled.

The end result for the Eagles was a that is was successful season where they players saw themselves constantly at the top of the league jockeying for the first place position throughout the year with Mt. Pearl, and CBR. The Team was well represented by the performance of all the players, and the young men showed their character with a salute to the fans at the end of the Championship game. The team is now preparing to travel to Labrador City for the All- NL and certainly if they play as hard as they did during the DJHL playoffs and season they will do well. Lets wish them luck on the journey and the games they will play representing the NEMHA league in the "Big Land"

NEMHA Atom McHockey - Atlas Pizza captured Silver

After dropping the first game Atlas came back to win three straight. After being down 4-1 in the semi-finals they came back to tie the game with 1:30 remaining. Overtime solved nothing. After six rounds in the shootout they would prevail. Although they came up short in the gold medal game they had a solid tournament bringing home the silver.

NEMHA PEEWEE B CAPTURE DJHL GOLD

NEMHA Peewee B All-star Team won Don Johnson Hockey League (Tri-Com) Gold Sunday evening! The entire team played amazingly well with great heart in order to beat the first place team overall, the CBR Renegades. In the best two out of three, Northeast won the series 2 games straight, winning the first game last week as a nail biting shootout win 3-2, and sealing the championship with a convincing 4-1 victory Sunday evening. Our offence again showed great heart and hustle, with Kyle Rumsey scoring the only goal in the shootout in the first game, while Matthew McCarthy and Travis Manning each scoring a pair in the clinching victory. The stingy defensive core, having not allowing any more than 3 goals in any one regular season game all year (averaging 1.6 GPG), were again stellar, holding the powerhouse CBR team to only a few quality chances. Goaltender Braden Kean rose to the occasion challenging the excellent CBR shooters, and no one will forget Will Cadigan's brilliant glove save to seal the Game 1 shootout victory!

The team would like to thank all the support received from parents, family & friends, as well as from their sponsors and NEMHA. Congratulations to the other teams & their families for such a fun-filled year

Back row: Travis Manning, Rod Senior, Mike Murphy, Julia Fitzpatrick, Kate Hickey, Dylan Crichton, Ryan Oldford, Matthew Senior, Antonio Shano, Bill Rumsey, John Hopkins
