Cougars 2024 NPPS101JR League Champs!!!!

It was a satisfying summer league year for Coach Cerrone and his boys they had an excellent year and continued it right through the playoffs. Many of the players on this team were players who played for Cerrone over the years. Despite having a short bench the Roadrunners gave it their all but the boys in red were crowned Champions!!! Great job by both teams and coaches!!!

2024 Jr League Finals

Semi action finals took place last Tuesday seeing Georgina taking on Cougars. Cougars were number one team after regular season and kept it rolling by winning 8-4 to advance to the finals. The second game saw Northern Propsects take on Roadrunners. Roadrunners have been on a roll to end season and continued in the playoffs. NP started the game with only 8 players added a couple as the game went on but couldnt make teh copmeback losing 6-5. Hats off to season leading point getter Ryan Degazio with 3 goals and 2 assists.

Next finals has Cougars against Roadrunners Tuesday 9pm for the hats!!!!

Jr League Championship 2024

The stage was set and they didnt disappoint. Both teams worked hard and deserved to be there> Despite having a very short bench the Roadruinners coached my Jacob Hiltz in their second season gave First place Courgars and coach Cerone Natale everything they could handle. Beautiful goals, missed chances great goaltending were on display in the end thanks to Jacob Dudley scoring his second of the game the cougars prevailed 3-2 in overtime. Thanks to both teams the fans in attrendance and all other teams in my league and coaches another succesful season. Next year plans are to expand to 8 teams you want in let me know

PS101 Prospects have entered many great teams over the years in what is the best Jr tournment of the summer. Well we finally got it done by winning our division then beating JR Prospects in double overtime to win it all.  I couldnt be happier and the team was great they bought in to what i was selling and the big guns got it done. Cant wait till next year where PS101 will have two teams> Thank you to all players who made this happen and the organizers of the TEP who did an amazing job with 60 teams entered

Congratulations Sam Bennett

Congratulations to Sam Bennett and the Florida Panthers on winning the Stanley Cup!!! I had the pleasure of having Sam attend sessions with me watching him grow as a player abd develop into one of the best NHLers!!!!

TEP 2024

NCP U16 AAA 2023/2024

After seven great years of being a head coach in the PJHL I have embarked on a new exciting opportunity to coach

the U16 North Central Predators AAA draft year team. This is something I’ve always wanted to do and I welcome the many challenges.

There is a history with NCP with my son Darius having played there in his U16 year so it is a coming of full circle in many ways

The Team has been picked and the coaching staff work has just begun. As part of our June program I’ve reached out to my good friend,

James Richmond, who is a special camp instructor for Power Skating 101 and is now the current head coach and GM of the OHL Mississauga Steelheads. The players are fortunate enough to be on ice with a OHL Coach and GM for two sessions.

The first session included our special guest speaker, JR, giving both the players and the parents an idea of how things work at

getting to the OHL, while being a player on the Steelheads as well as other options in hockey should you not be drafted. Truly a great educating experience followed by a question and answer period.

As a special treat JR also brought his 2014 Stanley Cup ring he earned as part of the on ice development staff with the Los Angeles Kings and allowed everyone to try on this amazing ring.

After the meeting we hit the ice where JR ran a full-fledged practice, putting the boys through the paces and teaching them some valuable information. Special player appearances included 2006 MacGregor Richmond drafted by Steelheads in the U16 draftand a former NCP alumni and I will add former PS101 Prospect player and current Steelhead veteran 2003 Chas Sharpe.

The rest of the month sees 3 more on ice sessions as well as off ice meetings with guest speakers Lee Umansky from Wingman Sports,

Drew Laskoski owner operator of Upper Canada Sports and Medicine, Mike Camileri, head of hockey operations for the Waterloo Siskens GM,

Joe Iantorno player agent Next Level Sports and finally Dylan Seca GM of the OHL Sarnia Sting

I look forward to this year’s challenges and hope to bring as much of these experiences to the players and parents of this team.

Thank you to all your speakers this is invaluable information for parents and players.

Camies Crew Regular Season 1st Place

Camies Crew First Place Regular Season

Congratulations to Camies Crew for winning this years first place during regular season earning a first round playoff bye. They will be joined by last years Champions Georgina who moved into second place in the last game of regular season.

Congratulations also to Caleb Tiffin-Seminara for winning the points race!!

Playoffs next week!!

Camies Crew Champs!

It couldnt have been scripted any better the veteran laced Camies Crew taking on the young gun Predators. What a game it was!!! Predators finished after two fast paced periods 2-1 but the savy coaching of Coach Mike saw CC come out and pounce to a 4-2 lead early. The predators made it 4-3 then pulled the goalie throwing everything they could at CC but Jack Pinder shut the door to earn Camies Crew the Championship and the Grey Hats!!!! Congratulations to both teams a well played exciting game that saw those in attendance applauding the performance at the end of the game!!

Northern Prospects Jr League

Year in Review

The Jr League just completed its second year and I have to smile knowing the very reason I started this league is exactly what it’s doing. It was exciting year and very competitive with a good mix of players wanting to move up in level, players already playing at a higher level and longtime customers coming back to keep in shape for their winter teams

Camies Crew pulled the sweep winning the regular season then winning the championship in a close game beating Predators young “Little’s” 4-3. Mike is a good friend and a great hockey person for my league. He has many very familiar players on his team that all enjoyed beating my team in a right to the wire game. Congratulations Mike and players well deserved.

This league would not be successful without the help of the many people, players and teams involved.

I would like to first thank all the teams who enter and all the players who entered to be on teams. A special thanks to Joe and Michael Cornachia and the Georgina team. You run your team very professional and it is no surprise the success you are having in the PJHL. Your team makes my league better and I sure hope you will be back again next year.

Mike Camileri thank you very much for bringing your experience knowledge and insight coaching one of the teams each year. It is great for the players and teams to have someone of your experience in this league. You are a good friend even though you beat my team in the finals. I hope you are back next year as the players on your team want you back.

The Midland Flyers organization. Thank you for once again being part of my league, your team has been getting better and better and hope that this is helpful in your recruiting. I hope you are back next year

Roadrunners a new team this past year put in by former player and student of of PS101 Jacob Hiltz. While you needed some help and had some ups and downs I think it’s helped you learn for next year.  Hope to see you back next year

Cerone Natale I cannot thank you enough. You’ve helped me so much without hesitation being there when I can’t be while also coaching a team each year. I truly appreciate it thank you.

Drew Laskoski simply the best in the business and always there to ensure proper care if anyone should get injured. To me this is one of the most important things about my league that I have such a helpful figure when the need arises thank you.

Daniel Natale thank you for putting the time in each week in timekeeping and getting lineups before games for the past few years. It is truly appreciated.

To all the players who play each year thank you for making this league what it is. Hockey is such a wonderful game and you meet such great people to have the likes of an Owen Heilema, Everett Flewelling, Connor May, Amadeo Mastrangeli, Kory Lund and Austin Mcgibbon all coming in and helping the young guys of this league learn what it takes to get to the next level. I hope you all are back next year.

Next year begins now I want to continue to improve and welcome any feedback positive or negative. As that is the only way to get better. If interested to enter a team a player or sponsor please let me know

Congratulations Isaac Phillips NHL Debut!!!!

Congratulations Isaac Phillips on his NHL debut with the Chicago Blackhawks!!!! I had the pleasure of coaching Isaac with the Barrie Colts AAA season for 2 years. It was easy to see his superior skill back then and as he made his way up the ladder to the NHL. I am sure we will see Isaac be a regular very soon with the Blackhawks. A better person and family there is not I am so proud to have been associated with them all.

Northern Prospects PS101 Jr Hockey Summer League Champs

Georgina Ice

The Inaugural first season of the NPPS101 Jr League came to a conclusion with the Georgina Ice winning in a great third period comeback down 3-1to win 4-3 in overtime!!! Georgina has been the number 1 team all season finishing in first place during the regular season and they completed the sweep by taking home the championship in the playoffs. Great goaltending great playing with a never say die attituded completed the season.

I would like to thank the Georgina Ice on a great year their players coaches and staff they came to the rink each week showing what Jr Hockey is all about. I also want to thank the Midland Flyers organization for also fielding a team and the 4 other teams of individual entries of players of former current and aspiring jr players who came to the rink to compete each week and kept the league a safe place to get a competitive skate each week in the off season.

I also want to thank my coaches Mike Camilleri from the Haliburton Huskies it was nice having a OJHL representative showing the men what they needed to do each week while filing in the memory bank some names for the future. My Assistant Coach in Schomberg Cerone Natale who not only made sure his team was competitive by filling roster spots with quality players when some couldnt make it but also being there for me to help in every way needed. To Andrew Parsons who has been a long time PS101 client he made the trip each week from Wasaga Beach to make sure his team had leadership at the helm.  Thank you all hope you all will be back next year. I also want to thank the timekeepers  and refs for showing up each week and getting it done.

Last but not least the players and parents thank you for making this year such as success. Without your support this does not happen and the league did its job with many coaches coming to watch and giving opportunities to players to move up which many signed cards and are still trying out.

Next year we will look to improve and love feedback both good and bad, I will expand to a flood format between periods and welcome any new teams interested, This is the only league catering to Jr players in the South Simcoe and region so if you have a jr aged team or a team of current players or a league team get hold of me there is only 6 spots to fill for next year

                                                                           SOLD OUT!!!

Quarter Finals for Northern Prospects

I was pleasantly surprised at how well my NP PS101 team did in the Carnevale Jr Showcase Tournament. No practices and for the most part players who have never played with each other each game we got better and better. Compete was excellent we headed into the eliminations with a 1 and 2 record and went on to be a higher ranked Bulls team which pushed us into the quarter finals. No less then 20 minutes after finishing our Bulls game it was off to another pad to play a highly regarded LSE team run by friend Harkie Singh. This is an agency team that had a few OHLers and a USHL player on it and we held our own losing 3-1. Very pleased with the results and nice to see so many prospects trying to become Jr players. Next tournament is TEP in June looking forward to it

Skills and Drills Training coming soon. If interested please contact ps8ing101@aol.com

Congratulations Dylan Sikura

Selected 6th Round

Chicago Blackhawks

Dylan Sikura a member of the Aurora Tigers Jr A team since he was 16 years old was selected today in the 6th round by the Chicago Blackhawks. What a wonderful thing for this player and as I was told by his coach James Richmond he was overwhelmed with what had just happened for him.

Sikura who blosoomed into a great 2 way player concluded his final year with the Tigers and was committed to Northeastern of the NCAA on a D1 scholarship.

This is JR s 4th player he has coached in the OJHL that has been drafted to the NHL and that speaks volumes of what type of development coach he is.

Congratulations Dylan Sikura!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

PS101 Prospects 98

Challenge Cup Champions

What better way to spend a blistering hot July long weekend then in the rink lol. With our 2 visitors from Denmark - top prospects David Madsen a 99 and Daniel Nielsen a 98 - PS101 put a team together so they could play in some good old Canadian hockey games. We entered into this tournament as an underaged 98 team with a couple 99 players with the competition mostly consisting of 97 born players. I was lucky enough to have the luxury of having James Richmond coach this team all weekend and what a treat it was for me and for the players to have such a highly noted and respected Jr A coach at the helm.

It didnt take the boys long to see the Danish young men were really good players. In the first game they stopped counting points after 5 - 0 but the skill of these 2 players had everyone watching with big smiles. We came away with a big win the first game but then took a bit of time off before JR laid the law down and the boys responded with a nice comeback to tie it 3 -3 in the second game leaving us 1 - 0 -1 after day one.

If Friday wasnt hot enough Saturday made up for it and we played a good first game taking a 4 -2 win heading into the last contest with the chance to take outright first place and a bye to the finals. A hard fought battle we fell a bit short losing 1 - 0 so Sunday morning 910am we had to be there and be ready.

Sunday was hot muggy humid a real scorcher and as it turned our the boys played a great first game beating the G -Men 4 - 2 who beat us 1 - 0 the day prior for our only loss. A big game for the 2 Cams and we were off to the finals.

The boys knew we were there to win and JR let them know if you play to win and do all the little things right we will win and sure enough they came out hot as the day was and burned them for a deciding 4 -1 championship win with Rawny leading the way with a big game!!!!!!

What a wonderful weekend for the players they got to meet and play with some of the best players from Denmark, they got to be coached by simply the best James Richmond who not only showed me why he puts so many at a higher level but from every player who had a great lesson on what it takes to be the best you can be and win as a team. Cant wait for round two July 11-13 at the Nott.

PS101 Prospects 98 welcome Top 99 Denmark Prospect David Madsen, Top 98 Denmark Prospect Daniel Nielsen and Aurora Tigers Jr A Head Coach and GM and LA Kings skills instructor James Richmond

Congratulations James Richmond and the LA Kings

Good friend, Special Camp Instructor to PS101 and my mentor James Richmond invited me and my family to be part of a special night celebrating the winning of the Stanley Cup by the LA Kings. JR is the Skating/Skills instructor for the LA Kings as well as the Head Coach and General Manager of the Aurora Tigers Jr A team. I was honoured to be part of this celebration and wish JR all the best for this year with both LA and the Tigers.

And here is a great picture of JR and his wife and son with his Stanley Cup Ring how awesome is that!!!!!!!!!!

CONGRATULATIONS DANIEL NIELSEN

PS101 Prospects team 98 member from Denmark Daniel Nielsen has been named to Denmarks National U18 team and will be competing in a U18 super series in Slovakia latter this month. Daniel came to Canada this past summer and trained with PS101 this summer and played on the PS101 Prospects team. It didnt take long to see why he is the top 98 prospect in all of Denmark and looks to have a bright future in hockey.

Congratulations Daniel and best of luck.

Chowder Cup 2016

Its been a few years since I took a team down to the famous Chowder Cup tournament. This is just not about a hockey tournament this is a hockey experience in a city rich on history. This years team was the 2001 age group we picked players from teams and levels from all over carefully trying to pick players who want to commit to the team game and are willing to work hard to achieve their goals.

This is a very hard tournament to advance this year they had over 60 teams competing from Canada and the USA with 16 brackets. In order to move forward you must win your bracket so you cannot afford to lose a game and the format is considerably different then what we play up here having to play 2 - 25 minute stop time periods with a flood in between. This may not sound like much but they are long grueling periods where the ice that is not great to start  with goes quickly from bad to worse. Factor in travel, only 1 game a day and playing teams you have never seen makes it especially hard to move on.

The team started off great with a 3 1 win on a day that many traveled to Boston, we followed that up with a commanding 7 - 0 win and then went into the final game needing to win as did our opponents to win the bracket and move on. We played a very good game and skated to a 4 2 win to win our bracket and move on with all other bracket winners.

Sunday came early as we played a late one Saturday but we made it there so we knew all teams would be very good. We came out and took a lead and should have scored a few more chances but couldnt bury our chances. The other team came on after scoring and you could see they played a lot together and took us down.

I am very happy with the success of the team, we competed hard and played to the end gaining valuable experience and interest from scouts and agents. This is the first team I have taken to make the Sunday so that in itself is an accomplishment while also considering only 16 of 64 teams move on.

I want to thank my fellow coach Curtis Storseth whose commitment and passion of the game is second to none. Dave Newman was a great help as trainer and on ice help at practices. Jackie Brown was very helpful in sewing sweaters and organizing the team luncheon with Recruitment and Advisor David Lopresti who did a great job educating our parent group and players on Prep School and NCAA. And most of all to the players who gave it there all and did PS101 Prospects Proud.

I hope you all had a great experience and look forward to doing more prospects tournaments with the 2001 age group next year

PS There are many more pictures in the Albums page

PS 101 1998 PROSPECTS

CHOWDER CUP 2013

THE EXPERIENCE

PS101 Prospects team just returned from their first ever Chowder Cup tournament in Boston Massachusetts this past week. I wanted to thank both players and parents for the commitment put forth by them to attend this reknown tournament and trust they all came away with a great experience. Thanks to a parent on the team the players and coaching staff all received golf shirts and baseball caps to look equally as good off the ice as we did on the ice. I came away from this tournament very proud of the accomplishments of this group and know that PS101 Prospects will be back next year bigger and better from this years experience.

The Games

The boys were pumped and ready to go in our first ever game together as a full team. Until then we had 2 practices and a exhibition game with a partial squads. The result was great, we were clearly the better team leaving with a 9 - 2 win. It was in an interesting arena where our bench was divided in 2 sections split by a column and our dressing room was up 2 flights of stairs but we got the start we wanted. Game 2 presented much better competition but the boys came out again with great effort and in a very tough physical game came out with a 3 - 1 win. Heading into the last of the 3 qualfiiers we sat in first in our division tied in points but technically in first due to tie breakers. This game was our best competition and was also on teh bigger Olympic sized. We didnt seem to have the legs we did the first 2 games but continued to work hard and show effort was never an area of concern but just fell short losing 4 -2 one of which was an empty netter and our Chowder Cup experience over.

The Player/Parent Group

All in all it was nice to see a group of players where many had never all played together come together so well as a team. I wanted a team made up of players from different teams and areas and this group while mostly made up of many from our winter team also had several players from other teams and even one from another province. They all meshed together both on the ice and off with a shared enthusiam and passion for the game of hockey that we all love. Behind every great player group is an equally great parent group and this group had no exceptions. When speaking of enthusiam, and passion for the game it must be remembered the parents role in this has as much if not more commitment to realizing a sons dream of trying to make it as a hockey player.

Boston and Area Extra Activities

Many players and parents took advantage of the travel to couple it in with their summer vacation. Many hit Cape Cod and hit the beach and many sites. The Provincetown experience is very much recommended it is something everyone should see. I admit I was a little reluctant to go but glad we did as it is something to experience.  I know for a small group of players and parents our last night knowing we were done we wanted to end it on a great birthday celebration for a player and some good times. We hit the market down in downtown Boston Saturday got to see a neat street act and then had a complete blast at Dicks Last Resort for dinner and a lot of fun for both the boys and the parents it is another must attend place.

Special Thanks

I want to thank everyone who helped out from coaches to parents to the player agent that came to a meet and greet with our players and parents I hope you all had a terrific experience and I look forward to building a 1998 and 1999 team for next years Chowder Cup. Here is just a few of many pictures taken of our Chowder experience please visit my phot album under Chowder Cup to see them all  http://www.leaguelineup.com/photoalbum.asp?url=ps101&sid=629100890&photocatid=297211

SIMCOE COUNTY CUP CHAMPIONS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The team wasnt officially entered until Monday morning and only added our last piece of the puzzle late Monday afternoon. With a team of players ranging from 1999 BB to 1998 AAA the PS101 Prospects team played 6 games in 10 hours, went undefeated, to capture the Simcoe County Cup Championship!!!!!!!!

With great goaltending, anchored by a solid defence corp and only 8 forwards who skated and worked together like they had played all year together even when down 1 - 0 in the championship game dug deep when Darius Kondrotas tied the game with a slap shot from the point and then in overtime Tyler Burnie won it all with another of his highlight reel goals!!!!! PS101 Wins PS101 Wins!!!!!!!

Thank you all for being part of the PS101 Prospects Team you made me so very proud.
