Considered the best wrestler, pound-for-pound, in his state, Avery had defeated Division I state champ, Kyle Humphries, of East Long Meadow High, 7-4, in the All-States tournament, where Avery was named The Outstanding Wrestler.

St. Peters Prep's James Fox went 43-0, was named Outstanding Wrestler after winning the prestigious Beast of The East Tournament at the University of Delaware, and was named New Jersey's Wrestler of The Year after becoming his school's first-ever state champion. Bound for Harvard.

Utah's Derek Thomas of Layton High was a two-time Class 5A state champ after having finished fourth as a sophomore. He will wrestle for Utah Valley.

Only one loss combined amongst 4 out of 5 of his opponents the entire year, as Derek Thomas' record is not mentioned. Very tough road to the Championship. Way to go, Pat.

Thanks to Coach Yoakum for giving Pat an opportunity to compete for the Perry Hall Gators in the MJWL during his last year in Junior League.
