NO MO' TALK

February 9, 2002
Aight y'all...Play-offs, its time to rid the league of the teams that talk on the Internet and teams that their play does the talking. Ever since the end of the last season sooo many bench players have been runnin their mouths talking smack on various Internet discussion boards. Finally the talking is over and if you win you live to fight another day and if you lose you get ridiculed by guys like me who don't even play ball but like to act tuff behind a computer. To my Ancaster brothers, I know the recent tragedies in the world (the injury to Foebel) may have us questioning our abilities to beat the elite teams of Hamilton, but a recent victory over a talented Highland team should ease these troubles. The truth is,.....as a team, if we play with intensity on defense, and control our emotions and make smart plays on offence, our team should have no trouble making it to SOSSA, if we don't play this way then we better turn in our Air Jordans for golf cleats. To all the seniors, this is it!!!!! Highschool is and has been an amazing time, don't soil your highschool memories with the memory of not giving 100 percent in your last highschool game. Yo make sure to come to see the b ball games and support the royals, even if you're not a fan of b-ball come to the games and check out the sweet introductions, and the amazing half time shows!!!Peace to yur area........z3

HEART

April 26, 2001
Whats up y'all.....in this edition of how u livin we are going to talk about heart. Question: what does it mean to have heart or to play with heart. Does it simply mean that a player or coach wants to win, or does it mean that a player will werk his very hardest to do well? In my opinion playing with heart means that a player put's the greater good of the team b4 him self. Examples,...A player taking a charge, diving for a ball, not complaining to a coach when he does not get any playing time ( although you may want to play, unity is a key component to creating a good team atmosphere), and there are many other examples. I ask all basket ball players to look at last season and ask themselves; how often "Have I" put the greater good of the team b4 my own comfort. If the royals are gonna repeat as city champs, ....every game .....every practice .....every moment of the basketball season must be played with, heart.

FAMOUS QUOTATIONS FROM JOHN WOODEN

Famous Quotations from John Wooden
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

"You cannot attain and maintain physical condition unless you are morally and mentally conditioned. And it is impossible to be in moral condition unless you are spiritually conditioned. I always told my players that our team condition depended on two factors -- how hard they worked on the floor during practice and how well they behaved between practices..."

"Sports do not build character; they reveal it..."

"Be more concerned with your character than with your reputation. Your character is what you really are, while your reputation is merely what others think you are."

"Failure is not fatal, but failure to change might be."

"Do not let what you cannot do interfere with what you can do."

"Don't measure yourself by what you have accomplished, but by what you should have accomplished with your ability."

"It isn't what you do, but how you do it."

"Don't mistake activity for achievement..."

"Ability may get you to the top, but it takes character to keep you there..."

"It's the little details that are vital. Little things make big things happen."

"...For an athlete to function properly, he must be intent. There has to be a definite purpose and goal if you are to progress. If you are not intent about what you are doing, you aren't able to resist the temptation to do something else that might be more fun at the moment."

"Although I wanted my players to work to win, I tried to convince them they had always won when they had done their best."

"If you lose self-control everything will fall. You cannot function physically or mentally or in any other way unless your emotions are under control."

"Young people need models, not critics..."

"Things turn out best for the people who make the best of the way things turn out."
