AND THE SEASON COMES TO AN END...
The last week of the season brought San Ramon up against Livermore and Monte Vista. Tuesdays game in Livermore had the Wolves working hard, as Livermore put up quite a tough game!! Although SRV came out strong with a fast first goal, they struggled to look like their strong selves, and the Cowboys took advantage answering back with a goal of their own. It was 1-1 at the half, and it stayed that way until close to three minutes left in the game. That is when a jumble in the box and a ricochet later, the Wolves took the lead and a 2-1 win at the final. Whew!
Thursday brought another one of those ever exciting games against cross-town rival Monte Vista. After previous match ups, SRV boasted a win and a tie vs. MV...well...two wins per San Ramon fans and video footage. But this time the Mustangs got the 2-1 victory over the Wolves. It was a typical tough match, in which the Wolves struggled to play their possession and passing game against a long ball opponent with strong kicks, that kept the SRV defense on their toes!! SRV held strong however,  against a highly physical MV team. But even as the Mustangs played down a man for the last three minutes, as a result of a red card for flagrant actions, the Wolves couldn't find the net.  The refs issued a PK and two Free Kicks, resulting in all three game goals. Hurts to hear that MV crowd roar in victory...but hey...WE ARE EBAL CHAMPS!! Way to go SRV Junior Varsity!

HERE COMES THE RAIN!

The last few games have really showcased how the JV Wolves have come together as a very competitive team. Cal High has a very strong team this year, and SRV was ready to play when the Bears showed up in Danville. This was a great game by both sides, but the Green and Gold had everything jelling , as every player who took the field that day put forth their best! Way to go girls, in securing a strong 2-0 victory. Next up...Foothill comes to town. Once again SRV came out strong, putting three well earned goals into the net before the half. Coach really mixed it up second half, putting keepers on the field, and defenders on the offense! Fun stuff to watch, as the girls put another win on their record. Thursday finally brought the rain!! Dark skies dried up though as SRV traveled to Carondelet. Always a very physical team, the Cougars made this one tough for the Wolves. Game was even at the half, despite the many shots SRV had on goal. But it only takes that one goal to find the net, to liven up a team...and that is exactly what happened with ten minutes left in the game. SRV scored, and continued to press hard until the final whistle blew. Way to go Wolves...keep up the great work as you head into the last week of the season!!

FINALS WEEK ...A TOUGH one in the Classroom and on the Field!

Along with academic Finals, came two of SRV's toughest opponents on the league schedule. Monday started with a Pasta Feed and FUN at the Parkers! Those carbs were much needed to help fuel the energy that the Wolves brought to the field on Tuesday for their game vs. Monte Vista. The game as always, was played with true heart from both teams, in a very evenly matched battle! It was 0-0 at the half, but the play didn't stay even for long. Second half, SRV put the ball high in the air off a corner kick. It was met by not one, but two headers to put the ball in the upper net! "GOAL!!" cheered the Wolves.  But the celebration didn't last long, as the officials disagreed. An ever determined SRV team then continued their drive, and this time, gave the officials nothing to argue about...another one in the net, and this time the scoreboard has SRV up 1-0. But the lead didn't last long as MV answered back, and the game quickly came to an end with a 1-1 tie. Well played battle Wolves!

Moving on to day 3 of Finals, late nights studying, and bumps and bruises from the MV game, the Wolves took the field on Thursday with Amador. The last time the two teams met, SRV seemed a bit slow to the start, and with a tiring Finals week, SRV was having to dig deep once again. After a foul in the box early in the game, SRV went up 1-0. Throughout the game, Amador was quick to the ball, and the Wolves were constantly on their toes! The second half, SRV came out strong, with many opportunities, and found the net one more time for the 2-0 win.

One more day of Finals...GET SOME MUCH NEEDED REST GIRLS!

Green & Gold vs. Purple
As the Holiday Break approached, the Wolves had one more league game to fit in. Traveling to their first away league game, the team seemed ready to go, after a carb-loading pasta feed the night before! The game however, told a bit of a different story, as SRV found themselves down 1-0 at the half. It was "one of those games", where the dominating team could not seem to find the net, despite nearly ten shots on goal, yet Amador took one shot and came up with a score. Second half however, SRV answered back tying up the game, only to have Amador score again. Eventually, with Biekert's second and third assists of of the game, the green and gold came up with two more goals for a 3-2 win! Way to fight back!

WEEK 1 begins...
The Wolves started their official game schedule this week, on another couple of freezing temperature days!
Tuesday was a scrimmage at Clayton Valley High School, where the Eagles boasted a black turf field! The game was off to a slow start, but as SRV started to find it's groove, 2 goals were put on the board, and they walked away with a victory!
LEAGUE PLAY BEGAN on Thursday vs. Granada, at SRV, who boasted portable bleachers...ha! Granada proved to be a strong opponent, with SRV having to work hard to earn their 2 goals and put another win on the board. This is the third straight 2-0 victory for the JV team.
Maybe some warmer weather ahead next week?

First up... JV LIBERTY TOURNAMENT    CHAMPIONS!!

After only a few days of practice together, the girls began their first games of the season, at the JV Liberty Tournament in Brentwood. Battling traffic and freezing temperatures, the Wolves came out strong, putting up 4 wins, with 13 goals for and only one against. After controlling the Deer Valley, Heritage, and Carondelet games, SRV was ready to meet rival Monte Vista in the Finals. With friends and familiar faces on both teams, the game was still hard fought, with the Green and Gold coming out as the Champs and a 2-0 win! You're off to a great start ladies...keep it up!!

FROSH SEASON 2013-2014 ARCHIVE

Welcome to the 2013-2014 FRESHMAN TEAM Home Page!!

Liberty Tournament Champions

The Wolves continued their undefeated streak of last year by coming out strong to start the season to win the Liberty Tournament in Brentwood by going 4-0 and not giving up a goal in the process.

Game 1 was a 4-0 dominating win over Northgate on a very cold Thursday night, followed by a 5-0 victory over Heritage on Friday.  Saturday saw the girls beat College Park 2-0 in high winds, which set up the championship game against cross town rival Monte Vista.

 Finals Pregame

After a scoreless game and two overtime periods, the game came down to penalty kicks.  Monte Vista went first and missed their first two shots, the Wolves followed and were unable to score on their first two kicks.  Things got tense as Monte Vista made the next three goals in a row, but each one was answered by the Wolves so after 5 shots each the teams were knotted at 3-3.  Monte Vistas next shot was stopped by our Keeper setting up the game winner by Chloe Iler who calmly nailed the game winning shot.

Final PK

Congratulations to the great effort of the team...and to a great start of the year!
