 Pinto Division (7 - 8 years old)

The Pinto Division Coordinator is Casandra Champagne-Christian. Any questions can be directed to Casandra at caschampagne@gmail.com.

Players must turn 7 on or before August 31, 2020 in order to play in this division.

There are no Skills Assessments for this Division.

Playing season begins in May and runs through the end of July. There will be two practices and one game per week, in order to allow coaches to produce better players while not overwhelming this age group with multiple games. Practices will be roughly 1 hour long.

Due to field constraints practices will take place on shared fields. Coaches can work together to shuffle kids through stations, hold scrimmages, or hold separate practices on opposite sides of the field.

Game Duration and start times: Games are time limited only (1 hour 20 minutes, with no minimum or maximum inning limitations), starting promptly at 6:00pm and 7:30pm. The two managers shall be responsible for ending the games on-time.

No Umpires are used in this division, games are called by the coaches.

Players will be pitched to by a pitching machine, pitching machines are consistent in ball delivery and continue to build on batting fundamentals taught in the Shetland division.  Players will continue to work on a level swing, their bat speed, and making contact with the ball. Coaches will begin to introduce players to the catcher position, as pitching machine balls will provide the most consistent practice for them.

Fundamentals taught: All Shetland fundamentals, improve batting stance, routinely hit a ball pitched from a machine, basic out and safe rules, basic defense plays, fielding positions, introduction to catcher position.

Required equipment: Good pair of tennis shoes, or plastic baseball cleats, baseball glove.

Bat requirements: In conjunction with USA Baseball and its other participating national member organizations, PONY Baseball has adopted the new USA Baseball bat standard (USABat). Effective January 1, 2018, with the exception of -3 (BBCOR certified), all other 2 1/4" and 2 5/8" barrel bats with a minus factor of (-5, -7, -9, etc.), must be USABat certified with the USABat licensing stamp on the bat in order to be used for league and tournament play. All 2 1/4" and 2 5/8" minus factor bats -5, -7, -9, etc. used in 2017 will be illegal to use in 2018.

$165 Registration Fee includes: Team baseball hat, team shirt, baseball pants and socks.
