2022-23 Youth Training Opportunities / Fall & Winter Schedule

The Fall and Winter schedule is an opportunity for the future players of our program to start learning philosophy, drills, and core values of the Centerville High School Baseball Program.  It also is treated as an opportunity to build relationships between players and the coaching staff.  Grade levels for all events are determined by the 2022-2023 school year.

EVENTS:

Youth (2nd-9th) Hitting Lessons

Youth Hitting Lessons-Monday Evenings beginning on November 7th and ending on February 13th (15 Total Lessons) 6th-8th Lessons to be held in the Baseball Barn at the back of CHS Parking Lot

These lessons allow us to work on the core fundamentals of the swing mechanics but also emphasize the aspects of situational understanding and promoting competition.  We will utilize new technologies such as Rapsodo and Blast Motion to give players an advanced look into their swing and to provide visual feedback on improvements.  The lessons run from 5PM-6PM and are open to all players 6th-8th. We only will have 14 spots for the 5PM-6PM time slot and the priority will be given to those that pay for all lessons up front.  If we do not have enough interested in paying the upfront cost we will then open up to those that want to pay week by week or in 3 week blocks.  Lessons have included younger ages in the past but due to demand and coaching schedules we are only able to offer to our older players entering the program in the near future.

Lessons will be broke up into 3 week sessions and will have a competitive aspect including:  Hard Hit Contact Percentage (3-8%), Quality at Bat Percentage, Extra Base Hit Percentage, Small Ball Execution, and Situational Execution.

Middle School Throwing Program-Mondays and Wednesdays October 10th-October 26th 5PM-6PM (CHS Booster Park and Baseball Barn)

A newer training opportunity that revolves around arm training.  The focus will be to introduce middle school players (6th-8th graders) to our throwing program.  Arm health, strengthening, and overall development is the primary focus.  At the conclusion of the 6 session program we will provide a template for players to continue the program on their own along with specific drills and resources to utilize in the winter months.

Full Team Training-Times and Dates Dependent on Coach and Teams Needs and Wants

We began Team training several years ago and have had incredible results.  This is an opportunity for a full Team to work with our coaches, current players, and several guest speakers throughout the training schedule to get a custom plan specific to the Team’s needs and wants.  A focus on our four main training skills of Approach, Adjustability, Bat Speed, and Barrel Control/Situational Awareness will be what the training revolves around.  For specific details please contact Coach Whited (jason.whited@centerville.k12.oh.us).  Times and dates are flexible and most begin their training in December/January.

Winter Baseball School – Thursday December 22nd and Friday December 23rd 9AM-12PM K-8th Grade (CHS Back Gym)

Winter baseball school is an opportunity to work indoors on some of the finer skills of baseball while also teaching our core values and cultural constants.  The camp will begin at 9AM and run until 12PM both days. Numerous prizes and competitions will take place along with several guest speakers.  Each camp participant will receive a tee shirt.
