COVID-19 UPDATE - MAY 26TH!

Moving in the right direction for sure.  I have messages out to all the townships we play in and asking for updates.  Please be patient as they are receiving the information at the same time we are, so they have to review.  I am hoping to have more information by the end of the week and will email all the managers as well to get a count on how many teams and discuss options for next steps!   Stay tuned, but we are beginning to see the light at the end of all this.

COVID-19 UPDATE - MAY 22ND

Some good news and things seem to be heading in the right direction.  However no updates have been provided from the townships as of yet to advise when permits will be issued and leagues can start.  We will follow up with the towns after Memorial Day to get an update and get word out to all the managers as soon as possible.

COVID-19 UPDATE ABERDEEN/CLIFFWOOD RECREATION

Update as of May 5th from Aberdeen Recreation:

All of our activities are on hold at the moment we will know better what the situation will be after May 15th.  We will keep in touch."

We must continue to all do our part to beat this virus and signs are showing we are, so lets keep it going.  Sports are central to all of our lives. They serve as an escape from everyday challenges, a tool for teaching life lessons to people of all ages, and a shared passion that unites people of all backgrounds. Together, we will get athletes back on the field as soon as possible, and again be united by the power of sports.

Be Diligent, Be Safe and Be Well!

COVID-19 UPDATE HAZLET RECREATION

Update as of May 5th from Hazlet Recreation:

Currently our parks are only open for passive recreation, per the governor's executive order.  That executive order expires on May 15th so we will have a better idea of what the field rental situation will be on the 15th.  Will keep you posted.

COVID-19 UPDATE MIDDLETOWN RECREATION

Update as of May 5th from Middletown Recreation:

Middletown Township intends to re-open playing fields and facilities for team practices only on May 15th. If the Township does indeed re-open, the guidelines & restrictions listed below will remain in effect until June 14th at which time they will be reviewed for continuation with or without changes.

  • Fields will be available on a first-come permitted basis and will be available to Middletown Township resident teams/leagues/organizations only. The current Township Field/Facility Request procedures will be followed requiring a new, detailed, completed request form, a current & ACTIVE certificate of liability insurance naming the Township of Middletown as additional insured. No room or gym rentals will be available/permitted.

Teams must use common sense & caution when on the fields at all times with good, social distancing followed, non-contact drills or exercises only & NO GAME-SIMULATED SCRIMMAGING OR CONTACT DRILLS. Teams are responsible for keeping all equipment clean & sanitized before, during and after all use. Additionally, the below must be strictly followed:
  • Practices ONLY and shall consist of a maximum of ten (10) total participants including players/coaches/instructors present at any one time at any one field.
  • NO CAMPS/TRAINING/CLINICS/LEAGUE GAMES
  • Parents/Guardians/Siblings must either remain in their vehicles or leave during the practice. NO SPECTATORS ON FIELS SIDELINES OR BLEACHERS.
  • No lingering at the field or parking area either before or after practice. There is likely to be another group arriving so we need to minimize unnecessary interactions.
  • Parking at each facility will be reduced to 50% of current capacity.
  • Parks with multiple fields will have some fields open, some fields closed. Locations will be reduced to 50% field availability.
  • All trash, bottles, personal protection gear must be cleaned up & properly disposed of upon leaving the field.
  • Permits will be issued to Middletown Township Class I resident groups/organizations only.
  • Township staff and Middletown Township Police will be observing use and enforcing strict social distancing and adherence to these regulations. If a group is found to be in non-compliance, they will be advised to modify or told to leave the field.
  • Fields will not be lined nor will any other field markings provided or allowed to discourage scrimmages and games. Grass will be cut and infields dragged.
  • Lights will not be available on any field or facility.
  • Basketball courts are open but for shoot around use only, NO GAMES.
  • No room or gym rentals will be available/permitted.
  • There will be no bathrooms open or porta-johns.
  • Limited Tennis Courts are open but for play only, NO INSTRUCTIONS.
  • Failure to adhere to these guidelines may impact the continuation of continued use and the granting of future permits.
  • Middletown Township reserves the right to discontinue use and close all fields in the event of non-compliance or if deemed necessary by Municipal, County or State officials.

if any team is interested here is what you need to do;
1) The league will submit the insurance certificate as the teams would be covered under the league liability insurance for the field (not injuries to be clear)

2) Email request to the league at: cnjsoftball@aol.com with the day/time slots you are looking for (give a few choices for each day you choose as you can see it will be first-come, first serve basis and we are competing with Little leagues for space)

3) Email the 10 players you would have at the practice field (First/Last and full mailing address) - Players must live in Middletown

4) The township is charging a fee, so once the request is submitted they will advise on how much it will be, but the teams would need to pay the fee.  (we asked for a price but they did not have that as of yet as it depends on how many requests)

COVID-19 UPDATE OLD BRIDGE RECREATION

Update as of May 5th! from Old Bridge Recreation:

"We are taking it week by week. If any changes happen I will get in touch with you ASAP!!! Please stay safe. This is a slow process.
The parks are open for passive recreation from 9am - 2pm at the moment. As we are opening up slowly and still practicing social distancing, honestly I do not see a Summer Season happening. We have the POSSIBILITY of MAYBE getting in a Fall season but no promises"

It's easy, list your name, positions you play and best way to contact you on the form and get placed on the list.

This is a free service the league provides for any individual to sign up, however teams may charge you to play on their team as they maybe self sponsored or collect for umpire fees etc.  Once you are signed up you can expect to be placed on the list within 72 hours and then team managers will call you directly.

In the past, we have had several new teams be formed and have helped many individuals find teams.  Some of the new teams are still in the league after 10 years and have won several championships.  Many of the players that joined new teams are also still in the league today.

Joe Schoentube, passed away earlier this week to see his obituary please click on the picture or copy this link into your browser: https://www.jacquelinemryanfh.com/memorials/Schoentube-Joseph/3988264

Joe was part of Central Jersey Softball Association for 10 years as an umpire, field super and most of all a friend.   Joe was always someone that was always willing to help to get fields playable, umpire games when no one could do it and do what ever he needed to be part of the game he loved.   Our condolences to his family on his sudden passing and our thanks for being part of our family and doing all he did.  Joe the almighty has called you to rest and you will be missed!
