The following message is issued by the North Dufferin Baseball League Executive upon learning of the death of Jim Shacklady:

"It is with sadness that the North Dufferin Baseball League Executive learned of the death of Jim Shacklady who passed away yesterday.

"Jim played with the Mansfield Cubs in the 1970s and 80s, served as league statistician for a term of four years from 1974-1977 and three years on the executive as vice president (1978), president (1979), past president (1980).

"In 2009, Jim initiated the idea and helped coordinate the NDBL Presidents' Reunion. He also played with the Dufferin-Simcoe Rockers in the early years of the team.

"We extend our sincere condolences to his wife Pat and the Shacklady family."

Jim was born in 1951, son of the late Ruth and Ron Shacklady and raised in Mansfield as one of 10 siblings.
Jim passed away suddenly but peacefully on Thursday August 5, 2021 at Georgian Bay General Hospital in his 70th year with some of his family present.
Beloved husband of Pat and they had just recently had their 47th wedding anniversary.
Jim will be reunited with his son Jamie who passed away in 2018.
Dear brother of Ted (Lynda), Terry predeceased (Jean), Pat, Dan predeceased, Dianne predeceased (Bryan), Mike, Lorie (Kevin), Colleen (Murray), Sue (Mark). Dear son-in-law of Pat and Patricia Shetler and brother-in-law to Lynn and Chuck Maier.
Jim will be missed by his nieces and nephews, many friends, cottage neighbours, curling teammates as well as all the customers he worked for over his 40 years in business.
There will be a celebration of life held at Drury Funeral Centre 519 Victoria St. E., Alliston on Saturday August 28, 2021 from 2 - 4 p.m. Donations can be made to Georgian Bay General Hospital Fdn. in Midland in Jim's memory.
