I am very proud that every player developed and improved their game this season. It is now on to high school!

The USA Nationals
7/05/10. What a great tournament! We went 6-0 on our way to the USA Nationals championship in Erie, Pa.!! Robert Brunn also won the free-throw contest (and a 4 ft trophy!) and Nathan Bischof took 2nd in the dunk contest, although many feel he should have won with his awesome 360 dunk. Summit Elite represented well in this tournament! Talk about a true team effort – everybody contributed at one time or another during this tournament. In our first game, we beat Akron Team First 74-50. This was Ben Easton’s first game back after a long layoff, and he came back big with 16 points, 3 rebounds, 2 assists and a block. O’shay Vinson had 13 pts and 15 boards and Nathan Bischof had 13 pts., 8 boards and 4 blocks. John Bahmer also had 2 pts, 5 boards, 2 assists & 7 big steals. We made the BMW Elite (MI) team quit as we beat them 69-44. We absolutely dominated the boards with 53! Austin Fite had one of his finest games of the year with 15 pts. & 15 boards. O’shay had another big game with 17 pts., 13 boards and 3 blocks. Nathan also chipped in with 9 pts & 10 boards. We next beat No Limit Ballers by a score of 70-58. Robert sparked a big first-half run with back-to-back 3’s on his way to 8pts & 4 boards. O’shay had 9 pts & 11 boards and Christian Waite led the way with 20 pts, 6 boards, 4 assists & 3 steals. Our first challenge of the tournament was against the I-65 Ballerz (IN) as we trailed for most of the game before winning 49-44. Trailing by 9 pts with about 4 minutes to play, Rod Pereira exploded with back-to-back 3’s, a steal and a layup to get us back in the game. Rod ended up with 14 pts (including 3 for 3 on threes), 4 boards & 3 steals. John had 5 boards, 2 assists and 5 steals. Christian had 16 pts and O’shay had 12 rebounds. It was a tough, gritty come-from-behind win. Bryan Ritchie came from a West Virginia baseball tournament to provide a much-needed extra body and some fantastic defense for our last two games. In the semi’s, we had a rematch with the I-65 Ballerz. It was a battle the entire game, but we pulled it out in the end with a nice 60-55 win. Austin had 17 pts & 11 rebounds. Christian had 16 pts and 4 assists. Nathan had 13 pts and 5 boards, while O’shay had 8 pts, 8 boards, 5 steals and a block. The championship game was another battle. We had to play a determined Akron Team First, and it was a much closer game as we won by a final of 54-50. Christian had 19 pts (including five 3’s), 6 assists 3 steals & 2 boards and O’shay had 15 pts, 9 boards, 5 steals & 2 blocks. Congrats to the USA Nationals champs!!

The Summer Showdown
6/14/10. This was a tough tournament for us. We got beat by eventual champions Euclid PAL in the first game 66-54. The gym was sauna-like, and we just had nothing left at the end of the game. We then lost a heart-breaker on a buzzer beater to SMAC - Tyla 46-45. We played tough against Millinium Fire, but fell to them 43-37. This was our most disappointing tournament of the year.

The Wildcat Memorial Showdown
5/31/10. Our trip to Lexington, KY was a blast. We only had seven players for the trip, which hurt us in our first couple of games, but that didn't stop everybody from having a really good time. We were leading by 1 at half in our first game against the Bowling Green Wildcats (KY), but ended up losing 55-63. We were then leading by 6 at half in our next game, but lost 66-72 to Team Vigilance (AL). Game 3 found us against the eventual champions, SMAC Legends, where we fought hard but were just out-gunned 36-52. We ended the tournament on a good note, as we pounded Ohio Valley Gunners 85-66. Our record through 8 tournaments is now 26-11.

The Medina Basketball Classic
5/24/10. We went 2-0 in pool play to run our winning streak to 13. We beat SBC-Red 57-24 in the first game and PA Big Skinny 64-48 in the second game. We then suffered a tough loss to WOBA Running Rebels in the quarterfinals 61-59. We missed too many free throws and let the refs get in our heads too much in this game. This tournament ended way too soon for us.

The Battle in Barberton
5/10/10. We went a perfect 6-0 this weekend to win our second consecutive tournament and extend our winning streak to 11 games! All six games were double digit wins. We dominated an overmatched Church Boys in our first game despite only having 8 players. Everybody scored in an impressive 65-33 victory, including 16 pts and 9 rebounds from Austin Fite and a double-double from Bryan Ritchie with 11 and 10. Our much anticipated game with Smith Stallions was a blowout as we reached our highest point total of the year in a 73-55 win. O'shay Vinson dominated in the paint with 22 points, 13 boards and 4 blocks and Christian Waite had a great overall game with 10 points, 5 rebounds, 8 assists and 3 steals. We shot .557 from the field and everybody scored in our next win (70-42) against Team First - Roth. We played Ohio Xtreme - Slone in the quarterfinals, and had a huge second half to beat them 60-49. Evan Kennerly led the way with 16 points and 11 boards. The semifinals found us against Team 1st - Akron, where we jumped out to an early lead and played them even the rest of the way during our 53-42 victory. The championship game was another great team win, as everybody contributed in our 71-53 victory. Christian had 16 pts, 4 assists & 3 steals, Evan chipped in with 16 pts & 2 blocks and O'shay had 13 pts, 12 boards & 3 blocks. What a great tournament!

Combat In The Country
5/02/10. Congratulations to the Champs! We went 5-0 on our way to our third straight championship in the Combat in the Country tournament. In our first game, everybody scored on our way to beating Ohio Nets 59-17. Everybody scored again in our next big win as we beat Air Attack-Rohr 72-38. The quarterfinals produced another big win against Triple Threat (69-27). Our semifinal game against a pretty good Spartan BB Club was an OT thriller. We battled tough in the OT and pulled out a 45-41 victory. We beat an active Tri-County Elite team in the championship game by a final of 66-62. We had a great run in this tournament again this year!

King James Shooting Stars Classic
4/26/10. There were 93 teams in the 14U bracket this year, including 68 teams from other states and Canada. We lost (42-52) to a good Fairfax Stars (VA) team, but certainly had plenty of chances to win. We then lost (43-52) to a pretty good Grand Rapids Knights (MI) team. We were winning at half and could have won this game. In the Bronze bracket, we won our first game (53-52) against a huge NPBC Cavemen team. We then crushed TNBA West-White (68-57) where the final score was not really a reflection of the total domination. Sunday morning found us in the Elite 8, where we lost a tough one (60-59) to Lake Erie Elite. Overall, we had a fantastic tournament in the King James Shooting Stars Classic!

Ballers Bash
4/19/10. We made it to the championship game, but played most games this tournament down a couple of players. We started off on Saturday with two nice wins. We beat Air Attack-Pugh with a 65-39 win where we shot over .500 from the field. Nathan had 17 & 6 and Austin had 12 & 8 in this one. We then had another great come-from-behind win against a good No Limit team. We were down by 7 with about 10 minutes to play, when we finally wore them out and outscored them by 19 to win by a final score of 63-51. O'shay had a 18 points, 2 blocks and snatched 14 boards in this one. What a great OT thriller in the semifinal! Not only did everybody score in the game, but everybody also had at least one steal each AND at least one rebound each. Now that was a fantastic team win as we beat a very good Hoops All American team 61-59! In the championship game we were only down by 3 at half, but just couldn't get it going in the 2nd half where we lost to Air Attack-Rowlands 39-51. Our second tournament in a row where we finished 3-1.

Grizzly Games
4/12/10. We were playing this tournament down a couple of players due to spring break, and it caught up to us in the quarterfinals. We started off on Saturday with two nice wins. We ran Reliable Snowplow off the court with a 61-32 win. We then defeated Air Attack-Treen by 20 (54-34) in a very physical game. Sunday morning was a struggle against NC Elite, but we managed to win behind Christian's 24 point, 6 rebound, 3 steals, 3 assist & 2 block performance. Everybody scored in an all-around team effort against We Got Game, but we just seemed to run out of gas. Despite finishing this tournament 3-1, we left the gym feeling disappointed.

Triway Spring Shootout
3/28/10. We started the season with a very nice performance, as we went 4-2 and made it to the championship game. Our first two games produced some nice wins (62-20 over Reaper BB and 51-25 over Team First-Roth) as everbody scored in both games. We then lost to a very good Maibach team (17-42) in our last game of pool play. In the quarterfinals we beat a very confident The Boyz 48-25. We then had a great 46-41 come-from-behind win against Team First-Strippy in the semi's. It was a true team effort where we quite simply wore them out with our offensive and defensive pressure. It is exactly what I envisioned for this very athletic team. We had to play Maibach again in the championship game, and we were up by 1 with about 5 minutes to play. Unfortunately, somebody put a lid on the basket and we ended up losing 42-29. Overall, it was a great start to the season!!
