Season Recap

What a great year we had in 2015.  We played in 11 tournaments, made it to 6 championship games and won 3 tournaments.  We finished 47 – 13 this spring, and had a two year record of 90 – 21.  We played 19 games this year from out-of-state teams (PA, NY, IL, MI, VA, MD, NC, SC), and went 12-7.  We were 35-6 against Ohio teams. Awesome!

We added some guys to the All Time Leaders this year as well.

Season Leaders:

Rebounds per Game: Quan at 8.3 is now 2^nd all time

Assists per Game: Tommy at 3.7 is now tied for 1^st all time.

FG % per Game: Noah at .516 is now 3^rd all time.

Single Game Leaders:

Points: Quan with 24 is tied for 2^nd all time

Assists: Tommy with 8 is tied for 3^rd all time.

Blocks: Keyshawn with 7 is the new all time leader.

            Key and Amil with 6 are tied for 2^nd all time.

               Amil with 5 is tied for 3^rd all time. 

NTBA National Championship @ Myrtle Beach  

    7/18/15.  We went 5-2 in the National Travel Basketball Association's National Championship at Myrtle Beach.  We made it all the way to the Elite 8 in the Gold Bracket before losing a heartbreaker to the defending champs.  We were missing 4 of our regular guys for this one so DJ Snyder joined us at the beach!  We opened up with a win against the Allen Iverson program out of Richmond, VA, River City Reign (59-29).  DJ Snyder had 20 pts, Matt Salopek had 12 pts, Spencer had three 3's on his way to 11 pts, Keyshawn had 8 boards & 6 blocks and Tommy had 5 assists & 5 steals.  We then beat Maryland Mavericks (MD) (62-27). Quan had 17 pts, Brad had 12 pts & 5 assists, Spencer had 9 pts and Keyshawn had 8 pts & 7 blocks.  We crushed NC Heat (59-8)8  as Quan had 22 pts.  We lost to a good Charleston Strong (SC) (54-68).  Tommy had 12 pts & 5 assists and Quan had 13 pts & 8 reb.  In the first round of the playoffs we beat Philly Freedom Stars (61-35).  Quan had 15 pts & 11 rebounds, DJ had 10 pts & 5 steals, Brad had 10 pts, Key had 8 pts, 8 rebounds & 4 blocks, Tommy had 7 pts, 4 assists & 4 steals and Matt S had 6 pts, 6 reb, 4 assists & 5 steals.  We then beat Lexington Future (SC) (63-44) in the Sweet 16.  Keyshawn had 14 pts, 9 reb & 3 blocks, Brad had 12 pts & 4 assists, Quan had 11 pts & 12 rebounds and Matt S had 10 pts, 8 reb & 4 blocks.  Our Elite 8 loss saw us down by 16 pts with six minutes to go. We came all the way back to tie it up with 1:02 to play before running out of gas against the 2014 champions of this tournament, the Wilmington Waves (NC) (53-57).  Brad had 12 pts, Matt S had 11 pts & 7 reb, DJ had 11 pts, Tommy had 7 pts & 5 assists and Keyshawn had 6 pts & 4 blocks.   We finished 47 - 13 for the year.

Combat in the Country  

   6/07/15.  Congrats to the champs for the 3rd consecutive year in this tournament!  This is also our third tournament win this year.  We beat Air Attack Waseity (60-20) as Quan had 15 pts & 9 reb, Amil had 12 pts and Matt S and Keyshawn both had 9 pts.  We beat Ohio Storm in a close one (42-41).  Tommy had 22 pts & 4 assists and Keyshawn had 10 rebounds.  We beat Team First Akron (53-21).  Keyshawn had 10 pts & 10 rebounds, Quan had 12 pts & 9 rebounds, Matt S had 9 pts & 8 steals and Noah had 8 pts & 9 rebounds.  We beat Air Attack Conley (57-51) in the semis.  Tommy had 18 pts & 5 assists, Matt S had 17 pts, Keyshawn had 11 reb and Quan had 10 reb.  After being down 10 at the half, we came back and beat Air Attack Martin (61-50) in the championship game. Quan had 20 pts & 10 rebounds, Key had 10 pts & 14 rebounds, Matt Salopek had 17 pts & 4 assists and Tommy jad 8 pts & 6 assists.   We are now 42 - 11 for the year.

NAYBC National Finals @ Kings Island  

   5/24/15.  This was a disappointing tournament as we won our pool, but then played poorly and lost in our first playoff game.  We beat Ohio Legacy A (68-50).  Quan had 16 pts & 9 reb, Matt S had 10 pts, Tommy had 9 pts & 5 steals and Russell had 9 pts & 5 assists.  We then beat Air Kev (61-39).  Tommy had 16 pts, 8 assists & 6 steals, Matt S had 10 pts, Quan had 9 pts & 8 reb and Noah had 10 rebounds.  We lost to Dayton Metro Gudorf (46-52). Quan and Tommy both had 13 pts.  We are now 37 - 11 for the year. 

Primetime  

   5/17/15.  Congrats to the champs as we went 5-0 and dominated this tournament.  Our closest game was a 28 pt win!  We beat DG Warriors Milbert (67-28) as Quan had 15 pts & 12 reb, Amil had 11 pts, Keyshawn had 9 pts and Jake had 8 pts.  We then beat Dream Center (74-38) as Tommy had 15 pts, Amil had 14 pts & 5 blocks, Quan had 12 pts & 11 reb, Noah had 9 pts, 8 reb & 5 assists and Brad had 8 pts & 7 assists.  Our last pool play win was against ABC Bielo (48-18).  We beat Murphy AC Blue (69-41) in the semis.  Tommy had 16 pts & 7 assists, Quan had 14 pts & 11 reb and Amil had 8 pts, 6 reb & 6 blocks.  We beat Murphy AC Black in the championship game (70-26).  Noah had 19 pts, Tommy had 11 pts & 6 assists, Quan had 10 pts and Russell had 9 pts & 4 assists.  We are now 35 - 10 for the year.

Great Lakes Regionals  

   5/10/15. We went 4-1 and lost in the championship game.  We only had 6 guys for pool play, but we crushed our competition.  We beat Air Attack Waseity (63-10).  Quan had 19 pts, Keyshawn had 18 pts & 3 blocks, Matt S had 10 pts, 9 rebounds, 4 steals & 5 assists and Brad had 7 steals.  We then beat Cobras (61-18).  Matt S had 17 pts, 10 reb & 5 steals, Key had 13 pts & 9 reb, Tommy had 12 pts, 4 steals & 4 assists. We then beat Tri County Invasion (63-28). Tommy had 17 pts & 4 steals, Matt S had 15 pts, 7 assists & 5 steals, Brad had 14 pts & 4 steals and Quan had 10 pts & 9 reb.  We beat the Blazers (49-32) in the semi's as Matt S had 11 pts and Tommy had 10 pts.  We lost a tough one in the championship game to Air Attack Martin (56-64).  Tommy had 21 pts, Matt S had 14 pts and Quan had 15 rebounds.  We are now 30 - 10 for the year.

Michigan Warriors Jamfest  

   5/03/15. We represented OH well in this tough tournament!  We won our first pool play game against Comrades United Red (MI) (57-44).  Quan had 16 pts & 11 reb, Matt S had 10 pts, 6 assists & 4 steals, Tommy had 8 pts & 5 assists and Keyshawn had 8 pts & 3 blocks. We then beat Michigan Mustangs Brown (MI) (56-42).  Noah had 10 pts, 9 boards & 4 blocks, Tommy had 9 pts & 4 steals, Quan had 8 pts & 13 rebounds and Jake hit our only two 3's for 6 pts.  We lost a tough one to NBU Central Orange (IL) (51-58) as Tommy had 15 pts and Quan had 13 pts.  We beat DSO Panthers (MI) (47-39) in an ugly win.  Quan had 16 pts.  We lost in the Elite 8 to a very physical Team Loyalty (MI) (44-54).  Quan led the way with 13 pts & 10 rebounds.  We are now 26 - 9 for the year.

King James Shooting Stars Classic  

  4/19/15. What a great weekend!  This is one of the largest tournaments in the country and we made it to the Final 4 in the Silver Bracket for the 2nd consecutive year.  We won our first pool play game against Dayton Metro Jones (54-36) as 3 guys were in double figures.  Noah had 14 pts, Quan had 10 pts and Tommy had 10 pts & 4 assists.  We lost our next pool play game to a tough WarHawks (IL) (40-56).  Amil had 9 pts & 3 blocks, Tommy had 9 pts & 4 assists and Brad had 8 pts & 4 steals. Our first playoff win was against Aim High Eagles (NY) (59-49).  Brad had 12 pts, Tommy had 12 pts, Noah had 10 pts & 3 blocks and Matt had 7 pts & 5 steals. We had a nice Sweet 16 win against Hangtime (PA) (53-41). Matt Salopek had 11 pts, Quan had 10 pts & 4 steals and Jake hit our only 3 pointer.  We had a great win in the Elite Eight against Northwest OH Basketball Club (55-49). Quan had 18 pts & 9 rebounds, Matt S had 11 pts and Tommy had 8 pts & 4 assists.  We suffered a tough loss in the Final Four to the preseason #10 ranked team in the country, Ohio Hoopsters Elite (49-52).  Matt Salopek had 20 pts and Quan had 15 pts & 11 rebounds.  We are now 23 - 7 for the year.

Solon Cage Classic  

 4/19/15. We went 4-2 in this one, getting eliminated in an OT game for the second tournament in a row. We started off strong as we beat DG Warriors Calvillo (68-34) as Quan had 14 pts, Tommy had 12 pts & Noah had 8 pts.  We did not play well in a loss to Pittsburgh Storm Butler (28-42). We beat Erie Crossover Bengel (56-42) as Tommy had 15 pts, 6 assists & 6 steals. We then beat TNBA West Silva (63-43) as both Quan (14 & 11) and Keyshawn (12 & 10) had double-doubles. Tommy also had 10 pts and Brad had 8 pts, 4 steals & 4 assists. We pulled out an exciting win with 7 seconds to go against a good Buffalo Bounce team (44-43). Matt Salopek had 14 pts, Quan had 13 pts and Tommy had 7 pts, 6 steals & 4 assists.  We lost a heartbreaker in OT to a very good preseason #25 ranked team in the country, Pittsburgh Storm Elite (60-61).  We are now 19 - 5 for the year.

Ballers Bash  

 4/12/15. We went 4-1 in this one, losing a tough OT game in the semi's.  We started off strong as we beat a good Hoop Guru Ferriman (59-57) as Quan had 24 pts and 10 reb. We beat Air Attack Waseity (62-16) as Quan had 14 pts and Russell & Keyshawn had 13 pts. Brad also had 6 assists.  We then beat Hoop Heroes (53-31) in our last game of pool play. Tommy had 12 pts & Keyshawn had 11 pts. We beat Air Attack Conley (59-41) as Quan had 16 pts, Keyshawn had 10 pts, Matt S 5 steals and Jake had 6 points.  We had a large lead at the half in the semi's, then ended up losing a tough one in OT to Addidas Elite (52-54).  We are now 15-3 for the year.

Triway Spring Shootout  

 3/29/15. Congrats to the champs!  We went 7-0 in this one on our way to becoming tournament champions.  We started off strong as we beat the Warriors (45-15) and had 17 assists on our 19 baskets.  Tommy had 8 assists, Keyshawn had 9 pts and Quan & Matt S had 8 pts each.  The Ohio Skyhawks never showed up so we got a forfeit win in our second game.  We beat NEO Fury Red (46-27) as Amil had 10 pts & 3 blocks, Matt S had 9 pts & 5 assists and Quan had 7 pts.  We then beat Tusc Co Thunder Green (31-16) in our last game of pool play.  We beat NEO Fury White (54-29) as Quan had 15 pts, Spencer had 9 pts, Tommy had 7 pts & 6 assists and Jake had 7 points.  We then beat the Akron Bobcats (42-24) as Quan had 13 pts, Brad had 8 pts and Tommy had 6 pts & 5 assists.  We beat a tough Ohio Storm (44-37) in the championship game.  Brad had 12 pts, Quan had 8 pts and Matt S had 7 assists.  We are now 11-2 for the year.

Akron Tipoff Tournament  

3/22/15. We started off the season pretty well as we won our pool and advanced to the championship game. We did have a rough start as we lost our first game to Team Cure (43-45). Quan had 14 pts & 10 boards, Keyshawn had 12 pts, Noah had 7 rebounds and Matt Salopek had 5 steals and 6 rebounds.  We came back strong and beat a good CAK team (53-40).  Brad had 13 pts, 6 assists & 8 rebounds and Quan had 12 pts & 13 rebounds, We beat the Blazers (51-39) to wrap up pool play. Quan had 18 pts & 10 boards, Matt S had 10 pts, 4 steals, 4 assists & 4 rebounds, Amil had 10 pts and Keyshawn had 8 pts, 5 boards & 4 blocks.  We beat NEO Fury Red in our first playoff game (48-27).  Quan had 12 pts & 16 rebounds, Keyshawn had 9 pts & 7 boards and Jacob had 8 pts.  We then beat NEO Fury White in the semi's (56-25).  Russell had 14 pts, Matt S had 12 pts & 5 steals and Matt Wheeler had 9 pts.  We lost to a very good Air Attack Martin (53-61) in the championship game. Quan had 14 pts & 11 boards, Brad had 14 pts, 7 steals and great defense and Russel & Matt S. both had 8 pts.  Overall, it was a pretty good start to the season as we made it to the championship game and brought home the runner up hardware in our first tournament of the year.
