Season Recap
We played in eight tournaments this year.  We only played a handful of games with all 10 players due to injuries, illness and other conflicts.  It was also the first year of AAU basketball for the majority of the players.  When you take all of that into consideration, it was a pretty good year.  We now have a great nucleus of experienced players to build on for next year.  I am very proud that every player developed and improved their game this season!

Primetime
6/03/12.
We started the first game with 8 players, and lost Spencer to injury during the game.  We also ended up losing the game to a determined HWB 43-48.  It was a tough loss.  We then had to play a much larger Selba Stars team with only 7 players.  We were down by double digits early, but went on a roll to grab one of best wins of the year 56-45.   On Sunday we had to play with only 6 players, and we simply ran out of gas against the bigger Prodigy-Gold team 35-49.  Tough way to end the season!

The Battle
5/20/12.
We started off well in this tournament, and made it to the semi-finals.  We had all 10 players for our first two games, and beat Hoop Guru-Blue 43-18 and Ohio Xtreme 49-29.  We lost our third game in pool play to a pretty good Prodigy-Gold 36-48.  We then played tough but lost in the semis to HEI Lightning 45-54.

Great Lakes Regional Championship
5/13/12. We played well this tournament and made it all the way to the championship game. We started off with a big win against Hoop Guru White 44-16. We then ran into a buzz saw as HEI Lightning shot about 70% against us as we lost 25-52. we then battled well on Sunday. We beat a much taller Cobra team 42-39 in the quarterfinals. In the semis, we avenged an earlier loss as we beat Shooting Stars 33-27. We then lost 27-56 against the very good DB Hoops Bihlman team. They are one of the best, if not the best, team in this area. A very nice tournament as we finally collected some hardware!

King James Shooting Stars Classic
4/28/12. This is the largest travel basketball tournament in the country with 42 teams, including 31 from out of state. We started off with the #1 ranked team in the west, the Arizona Monsoon(AZ). They ended up beating us 8-44 with their impressive size and speed. Our next game was against Severn Elite(MD), and we had a great 3rd quarter to cut the lead to 7. Big Matt ended up hitting his head and had to sit out the rest of the way, and we just ran out of steam in the 4th quarter as we lost 22-46. We never gave up in our third game against Judges Court(MI), even after Big Matt had to sit out the 2nd half again. We ended up losing this one 41-29. Overall, I am very happy with the effort we put forth in this one. We battled hard every game and gave maximum effort to the last whistle in every game. We will not see this level of competition again this year, and the boys should be proud of their performance.

P.L.A.Y. Hoops
4/22/12. We started off strong by beating COSA 50-22. Everybody scored in this big win. Matt S had 8 pts and 9 rebounds. Spencer also had 8 pts while Bryce & Vann had 7 pts each. Our second game was another blowout as we beat Murphy AC - Gold 41-14. Everybody scored again as Jacob Gardella led the way with 11 pts. We ended up playing Shooting Stars in the semifinals. They had beaten COSA 36-30 to get to us. Not sure what happened, but we came out flat and stayed that way the entire game. We ended up shooting 2-28 from the field and got beat 33-9. It was an ugly way to end the tournament.

Ballers Bash
4/15/12. This ended up being a disappointing tournament for us. We made great strides in the first game as everybody scored and got at least one rebound and one steal in our 58-13 blowout of Hoop Guru. Vann led the way with 16 pts, 9 reb, 6 assists & 5 steals. Matt S had 13 pts & 8 reb and Spencer had 10 pts & 3 steals. We then got beat by Wadsworth Grizzlies 42-23. We struggled against the half-court trap in this one. Our last game was a very tough loss to swallow. We ended up losing to Air Attack 43-41 in OT. We had to play most of the OT with 4 players as the other 4 had already fouled out. Brad had an unbelievable game with 19 points and 20 rebounds!!! Vann had 6 pts, 9 reb, 5 assists & 9 steals!!! At the end of the day, we went 3 for 23 from the free throw line and struggled (again) with inbounding the ball. The good news is that we battled back from adversity as we were down 10-26 at one point, and had numerous chances to win in regulation and OT.

Grizzly Games
4/01/12. We had a tough draw in this one. We got down early in our game against DB Hoops-Bihlman and ended up losing 39-20. Brad had 6 pts & 5 boards. Vann had 7 pts & 3 steals. We then had a battle against Team First-Mack as everybody had at least a rebound and a steal. We won 47-42 as Brad had a double-double with 11 pts and 10 boards. Matt Wheeler had 8 pts & 4 steals. Vann had 7 pts, 4 assists & 3 steals. We lost a tough won to Ohio Stampede on Sunday 59-46. It was a one point game with 8 minutes left, but we ran out of gas. Brad had another double-double with 10 & 10. Vann had 15 pts., 7 rebounds, 4 assists, 5 steals & 4 blocks! Matt S had 7 pts & 10 boards.

Triway Spring Shootout
3/25/12. We started the season with a 2-2 record. Our first game was also our first win of the year, as we beat Hoops Guru-White 25-9. Jacob Gardella led the way with 6 points, Matt Salopek had 4 rebounds and Brad Reece had 4 steals. We then had a disappointing loss to Akron YMCA Wolfpack 22-25. Big Matt scored 8 and had 6 rebounds. Bryce Harvey also had 4 points. Matt Wheeler had 3 steals, and Vann Thomas had a nice all around game with 3 points, 4 rebounds, 2 assists, 2 steals & 1 block. Everyone scored in a big 31-18 win over Air Attack. Matt S. led the way with 7 points & 7 boards. Five players had 4 points (Bryce, Spencer Williams, Jacob, Garrett Bischof & Vann). Vann also had 5 steals and Jacob & Bryce had 3 assists each. Maliq Spragling played some great D and had 3 steals. We ended our day with a tough loss to Wadsworth Grizzlies 20-27. Brad led the way with 5 points & 6 boards.

Pre-season
We start the season down a player as Joe Mehalik has a broken arm and will be out up to 8 weeks!
