20220811 - Hockey Canada Assist Fund
In its ongoing commitment to ensure access to hockey for young Canadians, the Hockey Canada Foundation Assist Fund is back for the 2021-22 season. The relaunch of the program follows a tremendous year in 2020-21, when more than 2,000 Canadian families received an assist.
The Hockey Canada Foundation Assist Fund is once again making $1 million available to help Canadians experiencing financial challenges as a result of COVID-19. It will provide up to $500 per player in registration fee subsidies to approved applicants who are registered with a Hockey Canada-sanctioned association.
The goal: Help young Canadians get back on the ice and enjoying the game they love in their communities.
If you or someone you know could use an assist with registration fees, please visit HockeyCanada.ca/AssistFund for more information, or to apply.
Applications Close: December 3, 2022

20220925 - Tryout Process 2022-2023
Please find below the process for tryouts.
Tryout Process Allstar (A/B Teams) House League Evaluations
The Technical Committee comprised of the President, Vice President, All Star Rep and Technical Director will be responsible for the tryout process. An updated tryout process should be uploaded to the website each year before the tryouts begin.
Sweat camps will be offered to allow players the opportunity to skate before formal evaluations begin.
For Phase 1, Players are placed in starting groups based on where they played last year. Groups will start off smaller in nature to allow for player movement between the groups.
Phase 1 of tryouts involves three skates. One skating session, one skills session, and one small sided games.
During and after Phase 1, players can be moved between groups based on recommendations from the coaches running the sessions and the technical director (staff), observing the sessions. During Phase 1 evaluations take place informally.
Phase 2 of tryouts involves three games which are formally evaluated by evaluators as assigned by the technical director. Phase 2 Evaluators, where possible, should not be the same coaches involved with phase 1.
Phase 2 Evaluators will be assigned for Goalies, Defence and Forwards. The Technical Director will oversee all tryouts, as will one board member.
All Goalies trying out will also attend a goalie session run by The Technical staff as part of their evaluations.
Notes:
1. Any player not wishing to be evaluated for all star teams should let the office know before the tryout process begins.
2. Any player with a medical exemption during the tryout process has to be evaluated by November 15th in order to try out for all star teams. If the player is not ready by November 15th, then the player will be placed in our house league division and can try out for our c/d teams. Only the technical director can apply for an exemption to this rule based on their experience / knowledge of the player.
3. C/D team tryout process will be posted later in the year before they begin, as will the female process.

20221018 - Hockey Canada Registry Information for Members
IMPORTANT HOCKEY CANADA REGISTRY (HCR) INFORMATION FOR MEMBERS
CBRMHA utilizes the Hockey Canada Registry (HCR) 3.0 registration system for online registration and management of all its registrants. HCR has been recently updated to collect more information as it pertains to its registrants. As a result there are many profiles that are incomplete and we ask that you review your member profile to ensure completeness via your (https://account.spordle.com/login) - MY ACCOUNT/SPORDLE.
During this review you will/may notice a number of red flags (i.e. incomplete profile, waivers not signed, documents missing, etc.). Please be advised that these areas of a member's profile MUST be updated in order for HockeyNL to change the status of a member (player or bench staff) once they are rostered to a team to be approved, not approved, etc.
Please ensure that these areas are updated for each of your respective members as soon as possible to avoid any player or bench staff being denied ice time.
We appreciate your cooperation in this matter and our Registrar will gladly assist you if you have any concerns. Please email registrar@cbrminorhockey.com if you run into a situation where you are unble to complete your documents and require assistance.
Thank you in advance,

20221030 - Intro Parents Information
Parents of our Intro to Hockey Program,
We would like to once again welcome you to our program. We know and appreciate that it is a new beginning for some parents and players and we understand the excitement that it brings once your player steps on the ice. As you want what is best for your child, we do as well. We would like to advise of a few housekeeping items while at the rink and when your player is on the ice.
1. Parents should not be hanging around the benches unless there is a need to be there. During Covid we did find that the players were not as dependent upon the parents. If a parents assistance is needed the coach will signal for the parent to approach the bench area. It was very well received and the players developed very well with this approach. If they know mom or dad are just a reach away they will look for you more than if you are in the stands. This was very evident last few years.
2. Siblings are also not be on the bench especially where they do not have a helmet on, it is a safety concern and causes too much congestion.
3. We also, would like to keep the benches clear for when or if a coach needs to come in with a player and it's best if the bench is not filled with parents.
If you would like to volunteer with the intro program either on the ice or be a water/assistant on the bench can you please email the office office@cbrminorhockey.com. If you would like to vounteer there are a couple of items that you will need to do. A Code of Conduct and Vulnerable Sector Check is to be completed. You will find information on that on our website under coaching. You will also need to complete the Respect in Sport for Activity Leader. There is a Presidents letter online that you can upload so there will not be a charge for the Code of Conduct Application.
If you have any questions regarding the above please contact the office.
Thank you,
CBRMHA

Developmental Teams for U11, U13 and U15 Information
Parents and Players,
CBRMHA is very pleased to announce that we will be having developmental C & D teams in our U11, U13 and U15 divisions. These teams will participate in a limited hour program and will compete in provincial tournaments. Our C & D players will still compete with their IHL teams as our developmental programming cannot interfere with our IHL teams. IHL teams must have priority with no exceptions.
There will not be a formal evaluation process. Teams will be selected using a combination of our technical staff’s fall evaluations and input from our current IHL coaches. Our technical staff has been and will continue to be present at upcoming IHL games and during in house games that will be scheduled in the coming weeks. Teams will be announced via our web page on Monday, December 19th. As this is a comprehensive selection process involving our head coaches and technical staff, there will be no disputing selections or evaluation assessments provided by CBRMHA.
The developmental programs will be 10 hour programs plus a CBR hosted tournament in each division plus provincials. A minimum of 5 hours is to be used for practice. The other 5 hours can be used for exhibition games with other associations that can reciprocate invites. The bulk of ice time will become available in February and March before provincials. The exact costing of the programs is TBD. CBRMHA has no control over where our teams are to be placed for provincials as that is determined by our rankings through HNL. Some developmental teams may be selected to travel through HNL and therefore will be allowed to fundraise to help off set costs. However, final grading reports are not released until February so fundraising efforts will be limited. If your child is not interested in participating in our developmental programs, please email your division coordinator.
We are very excited to get out our Developmental teams up and running in 2023!!
Lets Go Renegades!!
Thanks

20230214 - Happy Valentines Day to all our Parents and Players
20230219 - IT'S UP TO US
Dear Players, Parents, Coaches and Hockey Supporters,
The CBRMHA Board would like to write to you about something important: playing fair and making sure the rink is a safe and respectful place for everyone.
Unfortunately, we've been having some issues with actions and behaviours on the ice and at the stadiums. We need your help turning that around, especially as we approach league play-offs and provincials when emotions run higher.
Playing fair means not doing anything that could hurt other players on purpose. This includes tripping, slashing, checking from behind, or any other action that could cause injury.
It's also important to be respectful to everyone, including opponents, teammates, officials, and spectators. This means no offensive language, trash talking or doing anything that could create a mean or unfriendly environment Remember, minor hockey is just a game.
Players and spectators get passionate once the puck drops, but it’s important to keep those emotions in check. There is no money for wins, and no pro contracts are awarded at the minor level.
If you see someone acting in a way that's not safe or respectful, it's important to speak up and let someone know. By working together, we can ensure everyone has an exciting time playing or watching, and that we're all being safe and respectful to each other. Everyone is in this to ensure our players have fun, and win or lose, learn lessons through our great sport.
Thanks for all you do to support those goals, and for doing your part to make sure everyone has an enjoyable time at the rink!
