Big Board

Playoffs Preview

As a testament of their dominance, Teddy Bears finished the season undefeated 8-0. More than just a collection of great players, they are a team that play together with poise and control. Their size and disciplined zone defense cause opposing teams to take tough shots and shoot low percentages. On the offensive end, they have plenty of fire power and accurate shooters. Their skill and aggressiveness make them virtually impossible to guard. The title defense for Teddy Bears starts now, and they are once again the favorites to win it all.
After losing in the semifinals last season, Bieber Fever approached this season unfazed and confident. Their 6-2 record shows their ability to play against any team under any conditions. Team chemistry is excellent and players trust each other in a balanced attack. They have good size and athleticism, and their execution on offense and defense is improving with each game. With experience and motivation, Bieber Fever is set to make a deep playoff run.
Don't let their name fool you. There is nothing cute or soft about Smurfs, who finished the season 6-2. They play with a certain swagger and nastiness unmatched by any other team. These guys come out hungry and ready to play every game. Opposing teams will find it hard to stop aggressive scoring guards like Dang Tran and Trevor Callender Jr. They can drive, shoot, and get to the line. Though Smurfs lack a true big man, they have guys like Jessie Tran who crash the boards and go after loose balls. Smurfs play with a lot of heart and can do serious damage in the playoffs.
With a 6-2 record, Ugly Panthers is one of the most dynamic teams in the league. They have 3 players who average more than 15 points a game in John Wang, Zachary Antoine, and James Yi. Opposing teams will find it hard to stop all 3 at the same time. Other players on Ugly Panthers also contribute to give them great depth and toughness. Interior defense on this team is anchored by shot blockers with tremendous height and length. The combination of guard and forward play makes Ugly Panthers a dangerous team in the playoffs.
After starting the season 4-1, Lilburners lost their last 3 games to finish the season 4-4. Jason Chong averaged 26.1 PPG and clearly demonstrated that he is a elite basketball player. Few players have the combination of size, strength, speed, and skill that he has. Lilburners also have other players who can make an impact on any given night. They have decent size and good 3-point shooters too. If they learn to execute better on offense and defense they could go deep in the playoffs.
Having started the season 4-0, Ball So Hard lost momentum and finished with a record of 4-4. They did play tougher teams in the second half of the season like Teddy Bears and Smurfs. At their best, Ball So Hard are a team that can go inside and outside with the 3. Players like David Noh and Kevin Kim provide them a strong inside presence and can get to the line. Some players on the team can stroke the 3 with ease, while others provide hustle points. Ball So Hard have a deep bench but need to execute better to rediscover their mojo.
Although Push started the season 1-4, they managed to win their last 3 games to reach 4-4. The addition of Bo Noung has provided them a dominant scorer who can stroke it from anywhere on the court. Big man Met Tang can rebound and block shots like nobody's business. He plays with aggression and passion that rubs off on the rest of his teammates. Other players like Kevin Nguyen and Jay Dinh also contribute to the success of Push. If this team lock in on defense they can surprise some people in the playoffs.
After a successful campaign and losing in the finals last season, Mambas started this season in a slump. They lost their first 3 games, but still managed to finish the season 4-4. There is plenty of talent on this team even though they struggled to put it all together. Mambas have dynamic perimeter players and big bodies inside. Daniel Park continues to lead them in scoring, while tall center Ed Kim anchors their defense. This team can execute under pressure on both ends of the floor, and if they can find that spark they can make a run in the playoffs.
D 'Free' Agents managed to win 3 games this season to finish with a record of 3-5, a significant improvement from last season's debacle. Kevin Nguyen is the leading scorer on this team who can shoot the 3 and get to the line frequently. Sam Halstion is an explosive guard, and David Nguyen provides them some muscle inside. Nam Nguyen is not afraid to get in the mix and contribute. Overall D 'Free' Agents need some polish and are 1 or 2 pieces away from being a contender. They play hard, however, and can make some noise in the playoffs.
Beating Wings & McRibs has earned Vendettas a spot in the playoffs as the #10 seed. They struggled this season with a record of 2-7. However, every player on this team has skills and can ball. Eric Tran averaged 24.7 PPG for the season and led the league with 29 3PM. One of the quickest guards in the league, he has no fear and plays with pure aggression. He can shoot the 3, crossover, drive to the basket, or pull up for the floater. Because they lack size, Vendettas are at their best when they play fast and furious. They are tough and can surprise in the playoffs.
