GROUND RULES FOR FIELDS

   

GROUND RULES – These are the ground rules for each field we play/officiate. The umpire(s) will go over these at the home plate meeting for each field listed below (Please note this is for All leagues we umpire, any modifications of below rules must be discussed at pregame meeting with managers in the event field modified in anyway or weather affects field):

Some basic ground rules regardless of field:
- Thrown ball goes under opening in backstop a dead ball
- Any ball carried out of bounds is a dead ball

ALL PARK REGULATIONS MUST BE FOLLOWED:

 1) VETERANS Field One, Old Bridge:
 1.) Behind Plate, pole to pole into the dugouts is DEAD BALL.
 2.) The gate down 3rd base has a little opening. If it goes through that opening, it becomes a DEAD BALL.
 3.) 1st base line - DEAD BALL will be from the far end of the fence in front of the 1st base and extend straight out the outfield fence. If a fielder catches the ball and goes into Dead Ball Territory down the right field line, the ball will remain live. 

2) VETERANS Field Two, Old Bridge:
 1.) Behind Plate, pole to pole into the dugouts is a DEAD BALL. The difference there, as opposed to Field 1 is it has wooden planks that rise up. If the ball hits it, it is IN PLAY, but if it goes on top of the wood, it is a DEAD BALL.  
 2.) The gate down the 1st base line has a little opening. If it goes through that opening, it becomes a DEAD BALL.
 3.) 3rd base line--- DEAD BALL will be from the far end of the fence in front of the 3rd base dugout straight out to the outfield fence. . If a fielder catches the ball and goes into Dead Ball Territory down the left field line, the ball will remain live. 

3) LOWER GEICK Softball Field, Old Bridge:
1.) Behind Plate, pole to pole is a DEAD BALL.
2.) 3rd Base Line-- End of dugout fence straight to wooden fence and straight out to the woods/foul pole.
3.) Left Field - Any ball hit to the left of the fenced in light pole that LANDS on the hill or in the woods is home run. If it bounces in the grassy area in left field and ROLLS onto hill, it is a Ground Rule Double.
4.) Any ball hit to the right of the fenced in light pole in Left Center Field all the way to the next fenced in light pole in Right Field is all you can get.
5.) Right Field- Any ball hit to the right of the fenced in light pole on the ground is all you can get. However, if it lands in OR rolls into the parking lot, it is an automatic HR.
6.) Any ball that rolls under or goes through the fence in LCF or RCF is a Ground Rule Double. Any ball that goes over in the air is a Home Run. 
7.) Any ball that goes out of the sight of the umpire to Center Field (CF) is deemed a Home Run. 
8.) First Base-- End of dugout fence to wooden fence and straight out to the foul pole.
9.) Cannot go behind any fences around the lights to ca in tch any ball, either in play or out of bounds.
10.) If the ball rolls over the hill in RCF it is still in play unless goes through fence into parking lot .


4) HAZLET VMP Field:
 1.) Behind Plate, pole to pole will be DEAD BALL.
 2.) All other areas will be IN PLAY, except in left center field. If the ball goes through that opening, the umpires will award all runners two bases.

5) Lloyd Road Elementary School
1.) Behind Plate, pole to pole will be DEAD BALL.
2.) All other areas will be IN PLAY, except in left field play the dugout fence extended to the lip of the hill all the way down. In right field play the end of dugout fence straight down. Anything past this line will be deemed a dead ball. 

6) Ross Field 1
1.) Behind Plate, pole to pole will be DEAD BALL.
2.) All other areas will be IN PLAY, except in left field play the dugout fence extended to the lip of the hill all the way down. In right field play the end of dugout fence straight down. Anything past this line will be deemed a dead ball. 

7) Ross Field 2
1.) Behind Plate, pole to pole will be DEAD BALL.
2.) All other areas will be IN PLAY, except down both the left field and right field the end of the dugout fence straight down. Anything past this line will be deemed a dead ball.

8) Union Hill 1
1.) Behind Plate, pole to pole will be DEAD BALL.
2.) All other areas will be IN PLAY as the field is fully fenced in.

9) Union Hill 2
1.) Behind Plate, pole to pole will be DEAD BALL.
2.) All other areas will be IN PLAY as the field is fully fenced in except for the right field which extends up about 40 feet . If the ball hits that fence on a fly it will be a ground rule double.
3.) IF the ball hits the NET it is a Home run as that is not part of the fence

 

10) Michael Tighe Park (Freehold)
1.) Behind Plate, pole to pole will be DEAD BALL.
2.) All other areas will be IN PLAY as the field is fully fenced in. 

11) Phillips Park (Old Bridge)
1.) Behind Plate, pole to pole will be DEAD BALL.
2.) All other areas will be IN PLAY as the field is fully fenced in. Gates should be closed at any time ball is in play. If ball goes through open gate will be a dead ball.

12) Beers Street 2:
1.) Behind Plate, pole to pole will be DEAD BALL.
2.) If the ball hits the tree down the left field line, it will be FOUL if over Foul Territory or a single and all runners get a base over Fair Territory.

13) McMahon 1:
1.) On overthrows to 1B and 3B, the openings (use the triangle to the first pole) into the dugout will be a DEAD BALL, but the outside fence will be in play.
2.) Any ball that lands fair and rolls out of play down either line will be a Ground Rule Double.

14) McMahon 4) – Will update ground rules

15) Johnson Park (Jackson) will update ground Rules (3 fields)

16) Raritan Bay (South Amboy)
1.) Behind Plate, pole to pole will be DEAD BALL.

2.) All other areas will be IN PLAY as the field is fully fenced in.
