Playoffs Preview
1. Practice Squad (7-1) This team is on its way to winning another championship, which would be the first time any team has won back-to-back. Mike Yoo (23.3 PPG) has won 5 championships with various teams and a couple MVPs. He is unguardable and tends to play even better in big games. Practice Squad has tremendous size with players like Ahti Tahir and Macky Pannu, and excellent shooters like Atif Sajid and Dang Tran. The only time this team lost for the past 2 seasons was when Dang Tran had a blowup and got ejected from the game. Any team that wants to be on top will have to get through Practice Squad. 2. Atlanta Select (7-1) Not as dominant as previous teams engineered by David Noh (16.1 PPG), Atlanta Select nonetheless has a legitimate chance of winning the championship this season. David Noh has 4 championships and is one of the best big man who can pass and rebound. Other players who consistently contribute to this team's success include Daniel Pak, Jason Chong, and Albert Park. Atlanta Select has a lot of depth and also a lot of youth who can step up. Playing at their best they can beat anybody. 3. Team Tech (6-2) After starting the season 5-0, Team Tech looked like the team to beat and championship-ready. Two tough losses to Atlanta Select and Practice Squad showed that they are beatable. Shun Gokita (21.7 PPG) leads this team in every statistical category, even in free throws made and percentage. Max Miedel and Minsoo Park have provided great inside play, James Yi adds more scoring, and Albert Kang also contributes. To succeed in the playoffs, Team Tech will need their bench to help their starters. 4. Atlanta Hawks (6-2) After losses early in the season to Atlanta Select and Team Tech, the Hawks went on a run which included a big win against Teddy Bears. Josh Kim can score in multiple ways and leads the team in assists also. Other players who consistently contribute include Josh Lee, Brian Kim, Patrick Kim, Joe Cha, and Steve Kim. Steve Hong also brings a lot of defensive intensity to the team. The Hawks are at their best when they play as a team. Their first round matchup against Teddy Bears could be a tough one. 5. Teddy Bears (5-3) Bo Noung (30.5 PPG) leads the league in scoring once again, and Meng Xiong (18.5 PPG) also puts up numbers. Timmy Dam (8.4 APG) leads the league in assists, and Vechet Nhep also contributes. During the regular season this team suffered tough losses to Team Tech, Atlanta Hawks, and Atlanta Select. Whether or not Teddy Bears succeed in the playoffs will depend on the other players who show up. They have championships in their blood, and they can find ways to beat any team. 6. Toon Squad (4-4) After reaching and losing in the finals last season, Toon Squad has struggled this season against the top teams. Without Andrew Kim this team lacks someone who can explode to the basket and score at will. However, the core of this team has not changed and they are pretty good when they play together. Chris Lee, Tom Hwang, and Aaron Kim can all score in multiple ways. Andy Ahn, Sunny So, and Ben Pak also contribute. Richard Zhao anchors the defense and rebounds. Toon Squad will need to dig deep to reach the finals again. 7. Team LT (2-6) After struggling last season, Team LT revamped their roster and added some good young players this season. Although they have a losing record, this is a dangerous team to play against. Chris Donaldson (23.1 PPG) has great size and athleticism which makes him tough to guard. Kamani Conly is another athletic player who can score and pass. Duc Nguyen has an unorthodox shot but can knock down threes. Other regular contributors to this team include Richard Kim, Jacob Kim, and Terry Kim. 8. Curry Fried Rice (2-6) Known as Old Timers in past seasons, this team has been more curry than fried rice this season. Aamir Merani (25.8 PPG) has emerged as one of the most consistent scorers in this league. Other regular contributors on the team include Naveed Masood, Sonny Hemani, and Visal Sharma. Bobby Ly, Nhan Nguyen, Kevin Nguyen, and Ernesto Duterte also chip in each game. To get through Practice Squad in the first round, Curry Fried Rice will need to play a perfect game on offense and defense. |
