2014 PONY Firecracker College Showcase 16U Sylvester 2nd Place Silver Bracket



16U Sylvester knocks off Fearless Friction Elite 10-8 in the Quarterfinals, defeats Maryland Black Ice 1-0 in the semi-finals before falling to the PA Ballhawks in the Finals of the Silver Bracket of the Firecracker College Showcase in Hagarstown, MD.  The team had a great weekend playing 9 games over 3 days.  38 Teams partipated in this years event.

2014 Lady Lions 12U Earn USSSA National World Series Berth

On April 5th and 6th the Rochester Lady Lions started their tournament season with a roar! The Lions traveled to Chambersburg, PA to take part in the

USSSA Kick-Off Classic World Series Qualifier hosted by USSSA of Central PA.  The Lions fought hard coming home with a well earned berth to USSSA Nationals! 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Sylvester 14U Places 2nd at Rome Tournament

 

The Rochester Lady Lions Sylvester 14U team made it to the Finals falling short to the CNY Spirit 5-3 in a fantastic championship game finishing in 2nd place out of 16 teams.  On Saturday in pool play the Lions went undefeated, outscoring their opponents 42 -4 in their 3 games.  On Sunday they continued their great hitting and winning ways by defeated CNY Monster 10-2, Utica Sluggers (quarterfinals) 15-1, CNY Heat (semi-finals) 9-0, before coming up short in their finals.  It was great weekend for the girls and many memories were made.

2013 14U WEBSTER LEAGUE DIVISION 1 CHAMPIONS

The 14U Sylvester team wins the Webster League 14U Division 1 championship beating the Rochester Revenge 11-4

 

2013 12U WEBSTER XTREME TOURNAMENT CHAMPIONS!

The Rochester Lady Lions went undefeated at the Webster Xtreme Tournament scoring 64 runs while only allowing 3 runs. 

 

 

2013 14U NEWTOWN ROCK YOUNG GUNS TOURNAMENT CHAMPIONS

The 14U Consaul Lady Lions Team went undefeated in the Newtown Rock Young Guns Futures Tournament in Newtown PA.
  The girls showed the Lady Lions spirit by never quiting and scoring 4 runs in the bottom of the 7th inning beating the
New Jersey Venom in the championship game.   
 
 

2013 MIDLAKES ASA 12U INVITATIONAL 2ND PLACE

The 12U Lady Lions took part in the 2013 MIDLAKES ASA INVITATIONAL coming home with second place in the 12 team field. Starting Friday with a tie vs the Conklin Raiders the Lions finished out pool play with victories over the Syracuse Renegades and Penfield Cobras.  As the 3rd seed Sunday the Lions defeated the Auburn Extreme in the quarters and then #2 seed Liverpool Blue Reign in the semis before dropping a close one to the Conklin Raiders in the Championship. Great Job Ladies! 

MISS SHEN FALL CHILL 2012 12U CHAMPIONS!

                       

The Rochester Lady Lions 12U traveled east to play in the Miss Shen ASA Fall Chill in Clifton Park, NY.  Entering Sunday as the #2 seed the Lions received a first round bye before winning three in a row. The Lions  opened the day by beating Nightmare 10-2. Then in the semi-finals they beat Cambridge Lady Rebels 4-3 moving onto the championship round.  In the championship round they came out on top in a very tight battle beating Miss Shen Heat 2-1 to take the crown. Great Job Ladies! 

 

2nd Place 12U 2012 Homerun Fall Classic

 The Lady Lions 12U started their 12/13 season off with a strong performance at the Homerun Fall Classic in Syracuse. The Lions making it to the championship game lost a hard fought battle to Pickering Heat 99.

  

2nd Place 2012 NFGSL 10U Division

The Lady Lions 10U finished the regular season as the 2 seed going 9-3. The Lions started the play-offs on 7/19 beating the Diamond Girls at Genesee CC. On 7/24 at the Pepsi Center in Amherst the Lions beat the EMW Impact to move on to the championship game against Amherst Lightning. It was a tough 7 inning battle under the lights but the Lions came up short finishing 2nd in the Niagara Frontier Girls Softball League. Great Gob Ladies

Lady Lions 10U Competed in the Miss Shen ASA Invitational in Clifton Park, NY on July 16th and 17th. On Saturday the Lions went 3-0 beating Hudson Xplosions, Miss Scotties, and Latham Lassies Bombers to earn the third seed in the 16 team field. On Sunday the Lions beat Rotterdam Rockets, Miss Shen Wildcats, and East Greenbush Express A to get to the finals. We then put up a tough fight losing to Miss Shen Flamez in the finals. Great Job Ladies!

1st Place - 12U Team Wins the Flower City Tournament

The Lady Lions 12U won the Flower City USSSA Qualifier Tournament going 6-0 for the weekend.  In Saturday’s 1st round of games the Lady Lions mercy-ruled all 3 of their opponents, Central NY Spirit 11-1, Syracuse Sting 13-1, and the Rochester, Revenge Silver 10-2.  On Sunday, the girls picked up where they left off mercy ruling the Webster Extreme 11-1.  In the semi-finals they defeated a very talented West Seneca Magic team in 8 innings 7-6.   The Championship game was a rematch against the Central NY Spirit and the Lady Lions held on to an 8-5 victory capping off a great weekend.  It was a total team effort.  The tournament allowed the entire roster to bat so all 11 players were in the batting order every game with each girl making much needed contributions.

Congratulations to our 16u Team-McKay for battling all weekend to complete seven games, finishing second in the Flower City USSSA Qualifier.  With most girls unable to practice, due to sectional playoffs for several weeks, no one was sure what the outcome would be.  After the first game ended in a loss, the team never looked back.  Each game that followed was in improvement over the last.  Starting the day on Sunday, each win started to expose more and more team strengths.  The bats came alive, the defense was strong but best of all, they battled right down to the very last out of the seventh inning.  Great job!

1st Place - 12U at the "Go For it Graphics Classic"

On Saturday and Sunday, June 19 and 20, (Father's Day Weekend), the 12U Lady Lions competed in the "Go For It Graphics Classic - Fastpitch Softball Tournament in Perry, NY

The Lions seeded 2nd going into Sunday and on Sunday made it to the finals and defeated the 1st place seed "Rochester Rage" by a score of 11 - 2 (Mercy Rule) to take the Championship and bring home the trophy for the Rochester Lady Lions organization!   This is a first year team and parents and coaches could not be happier with this group of girls.  Their effort and focus, their determination to win, and their teamwork, were absolutely awesome all weekend!    A fun time and a great Father's Day gift for the dads.............................GO LIONS !

Congratulations to our 16u team for reaching the finals at the Canadian National Exposition - Bolivar Woman's Softball Tournament in Toronto. The girls played 9 games in 3 days against very good Canadian teams and lost to only one team. The Lions had to come from behind in the Quarter & Semi Final Games on Sunday and played tough to the end in the Championship. Great job against the Canadians.

18u Summer Sizzler Champions at Chamebrsburg, Pa.

With great pitching, along with timely hitting and great defense, the Lady Lions 18u Team brought home the championship on Sunday in the Gold Bracket. Missing from the photo is Bri Allen who pitched us to the gold bracket in Saturdays last pool play game. Playing 9 games during the weekend in 95 degree heat took it's toll physically, but the team hung in there and won the Summer Sizzler 43' Gold Bracket. This week they will rest up and get ready for PONY Nationals. Great play ladies!

Greater Buffalo NSA - Runners Up

Our 18u Team finished runner up out of 24 teams in Greater Buffalo NSA Tournament. After playing 5 games and 33 innings on Sunday, the Lady Lions didn’t quite have enough to win the championship but finished runner up losing a tough championship game. Congratualions Ladys!

2008 Firecracker College Showcase - Runners Up in the 16u Silver Bracket

Our 16u Lady Lions team played an outstanding weekend of softball in Carlisle, PA for the PONY Firecracker College Showcase. Going 3-3 in 6 games of pool play on Friday and Saturday the Lions gave up only 15 runs while scoring 29 and were seeded 28th out of 69 teams, placing them in the Silver Championship Bracket for single elimination play on Sunday. All 3 of our losses (by 1-2, 2-3, and 4-6 scores) were hard fought, down to the wire games.

In our 1st game on Sunday, we jumped to an early lead against the Richmond Freeze who came back to tie it up in the top of the 7th. The girls fought back and scored a run on an RBI, 2 out, base hit to win 6-5.
For our 2nd game vs. the Maryland Flames, we were down 5 to 1, when the bats came alive scoring 5 runs in the 6th inning and held on for a 6-5 win.
In the semi-final round, the Lions again found themselves in a 4 to 1 hole to the RBI Rebels when they strung together several big hits and combined with aggressive base running took the lead on 4 runs scored in the 4th inning and eventually winning 6-5.
The Championship game vs. the Tradition South from Wallingford, Connecticut was hard fought by both teams, start to finish. With the scored tied 1 to 1 in the 3rd, the Tradition scored 2 runs and tacked on a 4th run in 5th inning. The Lions were hitting the ball, but left 8 runners on base throughout the game and could not get them across home plate. Although the Lions lost 4-1, they came away with 2nd place, a bid to the PONY Nationals in Vienna Ohio and a never quit attitude. Excellent job Ladies!

First Place at Lancaster PONY Qualifier

Our 18u team took 1st place at the Lancaster/Depew Ponytails tournament. The win earned them a bid at the upcoming PONY National Tournament in Vienna Ohio later this year. Congratulation girls!

1st Place - ASA Presidents Day Fastpitch Tournament

Rochester Lady Lions 18u played in the ASA Presidents Day Fast pitch tournament. They won their first game Friday against a team from Maryland. Then they continued the strong play by winning against teams from Pennsbury, PA, Maine and New Jersey completing pool play. They earned the number 1 seed giving up 0 runs. They entered Bracket play on Sunday and won a tight game with a team from Davie, Florida 1-0 making it into the Championship game. In the final game they came from behind in the 5th inning to and held onto a 4-2 win over the Pennsbury Lady Tigers. Great pitching and timely hitting brought home the Championship.

2nd Place - Rochester Lady Lions 16u Silver at Lou Gehrig Summer Classic

In probably their best weekend of softball for this 16u Silver team; on Saturday they were the number 1 seed by going 3 - 0 scoring 20 runs and giving up only 1 run. On Sunday they advanced to the championship game by beating 2 teams, again giving up only 1 run and scoring 13. Facing a tough WNY Sting Extreme team, the Silver team was in the game to the end before losing 6 - 2 in a hard fought battle. Congratulations girls on a great tournament performance!!

1st Place - Rochester Lady Lions 16u Gold at the Clarence Boosters Softball Tournament

Scoring 38 runs and giving up 0 runs on Saturday the Rochester Lady Lions were the #1 seed going into Sunday. After a bye in the pre-quarter final round, the team won 3 straight tough games over Buffalo Express, Amherst Lightning Gold and the Lady Express Red for the championship. Great effort by all.

Congratulations to our talented 14u team for taking 1st place in the NASF State Fastpitch Tournament in Spencerport, NY.

The team went 5-0 for the tournament, with very solid pitching on Sunday from Jen Consaul & Alyssa DiMartino. Evie Trobe was relentless at the plate with clutch hitting against both Webster Xtreme and Cayuga Gamblers. A great overall team effort !

2nd Place - Lady Lions 12u Team at NASF State Tournament in Spencerport

The 12u team placed 2nd in the Spencerport Tournament. They battled against Webster Xtreme in pool play by scoring 6 runs in the last inning to win the game. Seeded 2nd coming into Sunday. They won Sunday's first game by 1 run in the 8th inning. Pittsford Cyclones vs. Lady Lions in the Championship game. Lady Lions lost by 1 in the 7th. Great Effort Ladies!

Congratulations to our 12u team on a great weekend of softball in the NASF State Softball Tournament earning a bid to the NASF Nationals in Georgia.

Before the Trophy Ceremony both teams circled the pitcher's mound and dropped a knee in prayer for the tragic loss of the five Fairport teens this past week. Please continue to pray for these beautiful young lives that were lost and their families pain.

2nd Place - Lady Lions 16u Silver Team at NASF State Tournament in Spencerport

Congratulations to our 16u Silver team on their 2nd, 2nd Place trophy this season. Going 2-1 on Saturday pool play earned the team a #2 seed and 1st round bye for Sunday's elimination rounds. After coming from behind to win the semi-final game, they played a very tough Canadian team and fell behind early in the championship game. Never giving up, the Lady Lions Silver team came back big in the 5th inning scoring 4 runs and almost forced an 8th inning before the game ended with the tying run at the plate. Great job all weekend ladies!

Rochester Lady Lions 16u Gold wins the ASA State Championship in Binghamton.

After going 1-1 in pool play on Friday the Lions again won when it counted. After losing a pool game on Friday they entered double elimination on Saturday and won all 3 games putting them in the drivers seat Sunday. The Lions trailed in the semi final game 2-0 to a good Queensbury Royal team that had some players from the Glens falls high school state champions on it but the never quit attitude provided 2 runs in the seventh with 2 outs to tie and then they won it in the 8th. With the state championship in site they put everything together in the Championship game and closed it out.
Congratulations to the 2007 ASA "A" State Champions.

16u Silver team earned 2nd place at the 6th Annual Go-For-It Graphics Classic in Perry, NY. Posting an overall 4-2 record, the Silver team fought back after falling behind in 3 of their 4 wins. 2 of those comebacks were on Sunday in the quarter and semi-final games against Bolivar Rage and a feisty Cayuga Gamblers team in 8 innings. Congratulations girls on a great weekend!

Rochester Lady Lions 16u Gold wins Depew Lancaster PONY National Qualifier.

After going 2-1 in pool play and getting the 7 seed out of 18 teams the Lions came out Sunday and won 4 straight tough games to win the PONY National Qualifier. It was a great team effort by all with great pitching and a powerful offense that generated 8 home runs with 4 in one game on Sunday.

Rochester Lady Lions 16u at Frontier Field

The Rochester Lady Lions 16u Blue and Silver teams played in a scrimmage game at Frontier Field in downtown Rochester. The game was played under the lights after a Rochester Red Wings versus Syracuse Sky Chiefs league game and finished up around midnight. All the girls had a lot of fun in an exciting experience. Many thanks to the Red Wings organization for their help in setting up the game to promote girls fast pitch softball in the area.

Lady Lions Blues finish first out of 18 teams in Clarence going 7-0 winning 4 games on Sunday beating Amherst Lightning Red 13-0, Gallassi Elite 3-0, Amherst Lightning Blue 4-1 and finally beating a tough Twin tier Lady Ice team coming back from a 1-0 deficit in the 7th to tie and then winning in an exciting 10 inning game where we had to switch to a field with lights for the extra innings. This capped off a 12 hour day where all the Lady Lions teams at the tournament played very well.

The Lady Lions 18u Team placed 2nd at the Willoughby Starzz ASA Qualifier tournament in Willoughby, Ohio.

1st Place - Mid Lakes 23u Womens Open Softball Tournament

Congratulations to our Lady Lions 23u team. The team went 3-0 on Saturday to get the # 1 seed and then went on to win the tournament on Sunday.

2nd Place - Lady Lions 14u at Syracuse

The Rochester Lady Lions 14u Team placed second at The Midsummer Slam in Syracuse on 7/8 and 7/9. The girls battled tough teams, the heat, and injuries, losing only in a close game in the Championship. GREAT TEAM EFFORT!!!

1st Place - Rip-It-Up at the Thunderplex PONY National Qualifier

Our 16u Blue team won the Rip-It-Up at the Thunderplex fastpitch tournament in Venna, Ohio. Congratulations girls on a great start to your season.

5th Place out of 128 teams for our 18u girls at the PONY Nationals in Raleigh, North Carolina.

Our 18u girls were undefeated (7-0) at the PONY Nationals loosing in the "Elite Eight" bracket. Very special........As we have finished 17th in the Nation for the past 4 years and finally broke through the "Sweet 16" and going further to the "Elite Eight"

Lady Lions at the Disney Wide World of Sports

The Rochester Lady Lions 16u - Blue Team represented Rochester well competing against teams from the south that play year round outdoors by defeating teams from Virginia, Maryland and 2 teams from Florida before losing in the Championship game in a re-match with a team they had beat earlier in the tournament.

The girls earned a silver medal and a bid to compete in the USSSA Worlds
in Kansas in July. - Coach Greg Stahl
