December 9, 2006 2:35:11 PM Entry ID: 1012142 | Hello Boys. I want you ALL to know that I was very pleased with our first ever attempt at 11 v 11. I know it was very cold and you guys had to play back-to-back 60 minute games on the big field which is tough for ANYONE to have to do especially the first time ever playing on a big field. Like I told you all at the end. Passing was very good in the 1st game, actually very very good. The passing and ball movement in the 1st HALF of our second game was good. The 2nd half I believe fatigue started to set in and the passing got a touch sloppy. Tried a few new players on defense that didn't particularly work out but that is how we become better as a team and learn things. Overall I was very pleased with your play today and impressed you held up as well as you all did for 2 straight hours of ball. Some quick notes. Jonathan I feel you played very very well today and the goal you scored was a sweet shot. Nas, I do believe that you are an absolute natural center midfielder. Your foot skills combined with the way you distribute the ball is very enjoyable to watch. Fiorella, as I told you at lunch the 2 plays I loved more then anything were the ball heading out of bounds and you never gave up on to actually save and put past the defender and the ball that was headed over the end line that you did not give up on running around the defender and creating the centering cross that you did. That kind of hustle I always love to see and you absolutely did other good things today it is just those type of things that I personally love. The move of the day without a doubt goes to Nolan in the closing moments of the 2nd game. Nolan perfectly executed the Maradonna ( however you spell his name ...lol ) beating the defender and leaving the opposing coaches scratching their heads saying wooooooow ( that's wow, very slowly )AJ awesome hustle all day, with time and work with 11 v 11 format I believe you are an intelligent enough young man that we will have you recognizing the opportunities for overlapping runs and the chance to take the space that the defenders give to you more quickly and then I feel sorry for those other teams ... :) Sean I think Stopper could be a good position for you with some work, it is a very very important position on the field and with training along with hard work on both our parts I think you could be very successful in that position. Tommy played a good game in net and had some good ideas in the field. I have to admit with you all bundled up on the bench I sort of forgot about you in that second game, I will be better next time. Ryan had 1 great play that was just a faint but it worked great when he checked to a ball only to let it run by him where Jonathan could receive it and be by the defender. We have to work on getting more on your passes especially back passes because soft back passes are potentially very dangerous. Nicolas played very well up front and decent at defense . Hopefully you learned a valuable lesson about jumping and turning when playing defense. Good forwards will fake shots to get defenders to do that and then chop turn in and by going to goal leaving the defender behind. No lunging or jumping and turning on defense. 2 very big no nos for that position. Michael, I hope your knee is well enough to play tomorrow. Very unfortunate so quickly into your rotation. Travis I know you aren't feeling a hundred percent and I along with your teammates appreciate you toughing it out today. As we spoke about though you have to keep your head in the game and remember the things we practice. We spoke about opening up when Nkosi has the ball and giving him somewhere to go with it. Stay with that concept and work to improve it as I am confident you will, this is very important on the big field. Nkosi I feel bad your hands were in pain, you have the problem with your hands that I have with my toes, they don't like the cold very much. Your play was fantastic despite the pain you were in and once again you received many compliments from the other coaches on your play. Marmo good defense today, hope the elbow feels better but better then the "D" was the halfback play you had today. Good stuff Anthony. Joe fought hard in the field and played decent in goal, big adjustment to the huge goal of the big field. positioning is even more important then ever. Last but certainly not least AD ( ALL DAY long ) Lugo. As always great great hustle especially on the play that set up Jonathans goal. Hope your neck is good after that hip-check you took but I know how tough you are so I am sure it is nothing but a thing to you. Great work today boys. Hope you all had fun and I will see you all tomorrow !!!! |

December 7, 2006 6:54:44 AM Entry ID: 1010730 | ABSOLUTELY OUTSTANDING ball movement last night boys !!!! Best movement I have seen to date without a doubt. The score may have ended in a tie but let me tell you as the referee told me at the end of the game " Your teams passing was the best of the night and the score doesn't show how much better you are " Exactly what I thought but it was nice to hear from an outside source. Great job and keep it up Dawgs!! |

December 3, 2006 3:19:03 PM Entry ID: 1007943 | I will get to the game results as soon as I can but first I THINK I am supposed to do a little bragging about my sons. I say think because I'm really not sure if a father is supposed to brag about this type of thing but ahh, who cares. Today I spent all day, well up until now, at the International Prince and Princess Holiday Pageant. Kylie was in the morning session and came in 3rd in modeling, 2nd in Most Photogenic and 1st runner up in the overall pageant ( aka 2nd ). Shane and Joe were entered in the afternoon session and in 2 different age groups ( Younger boys 3 - 6 & Older boys 7 - 12 ) Well Shane came in 2nd in the Model category, 1st in Most Photogenic, while Joe came in 2nd in both the Modeling AND Most Photogenic categories which was great. Then came the announcement for the Overall International Holiday Prince in both age groups. First they called #153 which just happen to be the number Shane was wearing. Then they called #152 which just happen to be on Joe. So both my boys were the Overall Prince Winners in their respective age group. Not bad huh ? |

So great job last night Dawgs, now lets try and apply what we practiced in this saturday's game ! |

October 29, 2006 9:23:40 PM Entry ID: 975586 | Boys I want you to know that for the majority of you I am very proud of you. We played a very good team today and like I said the MAJORITY of you gave what you had to give. Unfortunately in the State Cup format, the further you go the harder the games get and lack of effort by certain team members along with mistakes and a bad bounce all equal defeat. I tried a different approach today as far as not being negative and yelling the entire game, rather subbing the players that I felt didn't really show they wanted to give it there all which I am growing very tired of watching game after game. I will leave it at that for now and leave off on a positive note. Having already complimented the majority for their efforts I would now like to say to my son Joe who I get on harder then any other kid on this team and probably don't give nearly the credit he deserves. Today Joe made me not only a very proud coach but an extremely proud father. I feel Joe played the game of his life today in the field and gave it everything he has. Great job Joe !!!!! |

October 15, 2006 7:31:35 PM Entry ID: 958909 | Lawn Dawgs I really want you ALL to know how very proud you have made me to be your Coach this weekend !!! Not because you won the game today, but because of the way you did. Between the HBC Devils game, the Bayport game and now the way you not only played but also defeated the 2nd place undefeated Nassau Division 1 Port Washington team. Well all I can say is Bravo !!!! Sometimes as a coach you get so caught up in trying to correct things and getting to the next level, you forget to see how far your team has come. When you guys play the way you have in these last 3 games, it is really fun to watch. Be VERY VERY PROUD of yourselves as a team and individually because I sure know I am and I am pretty sure your parents are because they should be !!!! Great job LAWN DAWGS.. OH, PS.... I spoke to the Coach of the Stony Brook team who had already spoken to the Bayport coach. The Stony Brook coach told me that the Bayport coach said that Bayport was VERY LUCK to win the game against us. That DP played an awesome game and he was very very impressed. That he could have been the loser in that one ! |
