October 9, 2006 9:31:51 PM Entry ID: 953702 | Poughkeepsie Tournament. I will try to keep this positive. Good news, we took 2nd place. Not so good news, we had yet another terribly slow start in the first 2 games. There is no doubt in my mind we were the best team there this weekend, but once again, we didn't show that completely. The last 3 games we played outstanding, so much so that 2 out of 3 coaches asked " how the heck did you lose to Fishkill, you guys are way better then them ". Nice to hear but bottom line, on that day we were not better when we faced them. I was extremely proud of the soccer you ALL played in the last 3 games. You all demonstrated the fact that you really know how to play this game so be proud of that!!!!!! |

I just found out that Port Washington defeated Sachem so we will be the home team on the 15th against Port Washington ( details to follow ) . Well we are on to round 3 of the State Cup Competition. September 16, 2006 5:40:20 PM Entry ID: 935038 | I am telling you Dawgs you are going to give me gray hairs for sure. I do not believe you have ever played a worse opening 5 minutes of soccer EVER !! That was absolutely terrible. Think about the fact that you allowed 2 goals in the first 5 minutes and then really no true goal opportunities for the next say, 50 minutes. Only allowing 1 more goal on some lazy defense work. We must eliminate the terrible starts if we ever want to become a true top team. More write up in the GAME RESULTS ! |

As I stated My Man Ryan & Jonathan received an equal amount of votes and although as the coach I could have made a decision to stay with the standard 2 Captains, I thought about it quickly and decided I wouldn't have it any other way. I believe the team has chosen 3 excellent representatives for the Lawn Dawgs. Zachery, Ryan & Jonathan you now have the utmost respect from your fellow players that you could receive. Be proud of yourselves and carry yourselves like the leaders you have been elected to be. ************************************************************** Now, as for last nights practice. All I can say is WOW, WOW, WOW !!! You guys were on fire. Your passing in such tight quarters was extremely impressive. Last night was the absolute best ball movement you have shown to date. Now IF, IF you can play saturday with that kind of precision, determination and as a TEAM !!! I can see us starting this season off with a huge "W". So What do you say DAWGS ? CAN WE DO IT ? |

August 30, 2006 8:49:57 PM Entry ID: 922303 | Scrimmage against Smithtown started out very slow and sloppy but you quickly turned that around. After the first 12 minutes or so you guys played good soccer, still no talking and I can not tell you enough how important that is. Just tonight was a perfect example on the only goal they scored. Marmo thought Lessick was getting, Lessick thought Marmo was getting it, both started to the ball and the both bounced away and guess who got the ball ? Smithtowns center forward. Had 1 guy spoke up, no goal gets scored. That could be the difference between winning and losing a big game so we need to start TALKING PLEASE. Parents please speak to your children and help me re-enforce this to the boys. Suggestion are welcome ( believe it or not ) Good game guys, we are rolling along nicely into the season so let's keep it going this weekend at the Tournament !!! Score was LD 4 - Bulls 1 for those that missed it. |

August 30, 2006 8:43:54 PM Entry ID: 922292 | Boys I want you to know that I really liked what I saw in the scrimmage against the girls on Monday and I want to thank you for following my instructions to NOT shoot or worry about scoring until the last 15 minutes of the game. I loved the passing game that I watched in the first half, we made some mistakes but that was fine because that is why we were concentrating on just the pasing game so we could make correction that we needed to. I hear tell that there was an EXTREMELY AWESOME passing sequence between Fiorella and Lessick that resulted in a goal. Great to hear the way everyone I spoke to described it. |

August 24, 2006 7:13:36 AM Entry ID: 916758 | Way to finish last night boys !!! As I told you, we started out great, much quicker start then usual. We were not aggressive enough going to the loose balls but this we will correct. We made some halftime adjustments which you all pretty much followed and we managed to come out on top. Nolan the way you corrected your body positioning in the second half was awesome. Nas and Fiorella listened to my instruction and started splitting the defense perfectly. Scoring was Jonathan ( welcome back big guy ) off a pass from Nolan. Ryan using his chest to put the ball down then a give and go with Nolan only to have Ryan make a perfect cross to find Fiorella more then happy to finish it off into the back of the net. Final and winning goal came off a free kick by Travis. That shot could not have been placed any better, upper right corner and the goalie never had a chance. Zachery a complete force at halfback, that is without a doubt your position. Marmo solid solid defense out there. Tyler thanks for helping out with the defense considering we were so short handed in that position. Michael, although having limited playing time, considering the level of the competition played good, there are things we will be working on to bring you up to speed. Overall guys a very good night and I was very proud of you for finishing so strongly !!! |

August 13, 2006 9:36:49 PM Entry ID: 908184 | ******************* BREAKING NEWS **************************** Headline reads " GOALIE TANDUM SCORE GOALS, Holy bouncing balls Batman ".... that is right fellow Lawn Dawgs our two goalies Joe & Tommy both scored goals this weekend while playing in the East End Tournament with the Falcons. Tommy's goal was off a Fiorella corner kick that skimmed off the tips of the goalies fingers as he had jumped as high as he possibly could and there was tommy Horne to finish it into the back of the net with a perfect header. Joe's goal also came off of an Anthony Fiorella corner kick. The ball was bouncing into the goal mouth Joe cranked his foot back to drill it but the ball sort of skipped/took a funny hop so Joe was forced to leave his foot drawn back and instead kneed the ball into the goal. Noteable mention, Joe had an absolute picture perfect cross from the top corner of the 18 yard box where it found Fiorella perfectly positioned for a header and it was a beauty which unfortunately skimmed the top of the cross bar and went just over. I lost track of Anthony's goal total, I believe it to be 4 goals. One an absolute perfect shot upper right corner of the net and it was from the left wing position. A perfect penalty shot,( which was earned be the efforts of Joe M when he overlapped the wing driving deep into the penalty box and was taken down on a very hard slide tackle ) An even more perfect direct free kick from just outside the 18 yard box, also going upper right corner. The Lawn Dawgs were represented very well guys, these 3 did themselves and you all proud !!! |
