You guys played outstanding SOCCER tonight. As I also said, we take away the mistakes, we will be a very very hard team to beat. You should ALL be proud of yourselves. GREAT WORK !!! |

August 8, 2006 9:53:55 PM Entry ID: 904534 | ****************** Stony Brook Scrimmage******************** Well as you know we lost 4-2 but ( and you all know we do not make excuses ) 1 Goal did occur when I yelled to Travis to forget about the ball and look at me so I could coach him about what he should have done seconds before and low and behold the ball was crossed right near him and the opposing team shot and scored. That combined with the very last goal that bounced over Joe's head after the goalie punted it, well it is a goal but a cheap one. Most fields we play on will be considerably bigger in length and that should never occur again. As I told you all after the game, we NEED, NO we MUST start games much much faster and better then we normally do. We once again looked a little asleep in the first half going down 3-0 and then really woke up in the second half scoring 2 goals and creating several, several excellent scoring opportunities. We definitely won the second half but as I have always told you, soccer games have 2 halves and winning only one of them isn't always good enough. I want to give big CONGRATS to who else " My Man Ryan " for finishing off a perfect cross from his west side partner, Michael Valenti to start the scoring off. Also I would like to commend Romiz A.K.A Nasratullah for and exceptional display of foot work along with his one-time finish of the corner kick for our teams second goal. Nas, your work in the second half was awesome. Hard Nose players of the game awards go to ( as Always ) Zachery Lugo, we get positioning down and assignments, look out competition. Also joining Zachery in this award would have to be A.J. Walas. A.J. played a very hard nose style of soccer out there and showed a lot of really good things out there tonight, I may have to taylor the aggression just a touch but those kind of things I love to see. Nolan had some real good moments out there, creating things with the ball. The only thing I would say is you need to use your help more while at this level. there were more then a few times Romiz and Anthony F were wide open and you looked in their direction but opted to keep the ball. You all know my feelings, Soccer is a TEAM sport so you need to have confidence in your teammates and use their help. I will tell you all this, I am not discouraged about this evening at all. I know there is going to be some time needed to make the switch too 9v9 and for us to once again gel as a team. We will get it done. In conclusion I will say only one more thing. YOU PLAYERS MUST MUST MUST START TALKING TO EACH OTHER WHILE PLAYING THE GAME. I can not tell you enough how important that is in the game of soccer. This too we will correct, even if it hurts learning it... Do I see gassers in your future ????? We shall see !!! |

August 3, 2006 6:35:33 AM Entry ID: 900398 | Very Poor showing for practice last night !!! I do realize it was hot and with the weather men, (who have nothing better to do then hype these things up ), but at the field it was not really that bad at all, especially with the slight breeze. I want to salute the boys that were dedicated enough to attend. My Man Ryan, Nicolas, Tommy, A.J., The Zachinator, Joe and representing the Falcons, Tyler Doogan. Way to tuff it out boys ! I also want to, on behalf of the players in attendance ( and myself ) Give a huge THANK YOU to Gina for bringing the ice pops to the field. That was extremely thoughtful of you so Thank You again!!! |

Deer Park June 30, 2006 7:08:40 PM Entry ID: 876556 | thanks for the comment, Coach Joe. I've been waiting a long time and looking forward to this. I'm just happy to be back on the team. Coungrats to being on the team, AJ. I know it's hard to leave and start on a hole other team. |
| Coach June 25, 2006 12:50:16 AM Entry ID: 871357 | On behalf of all the DAWGS I want to welcome back Nicolas Ruiz to the Lawn Dawgs ( Nicolas took a little vacation from the Dawgs ). What can I say except it is way way too long overdue for this next player to be back, Zachery Lugo. I for one am extremely happy to have you on the Lawn Dawgs kid !!! Michael Valenti taking that big step into D1 soccer but Michael and family are ready for the challenge. Last but certainly not least I want all of us to give AJ Walas a huge welcome on to the Lawn Dawgs TEAM. It takes alot of courage to leave people you have played with for years and try a whole new group so lets all remember that. I give you a lot of credit and personally welcome you to the TEAM !!! I am glad to have all of you and I am looking forward to the upcoming season. |
| Coach June 25, 2006 12:34:23 AM Entry ID: 871347 | Well once again while most of you were fast asleep, Coach Joe was up and busy. I just finished all the paperwork to register both teams and figured I would post the Rosters seeing how a lot of you were asking. I also updated the " TEAM/ROSTERS " link on the left if you would like to take a peek. Now lets see what else I can do, still plenty of time remaining...lol !!!! |
| Coach June 19, 2006 6:50:36 AM Entry ID: 867072 | What an awesome display you boys put on this past saturday !!! Your passing was crisp and to see you all thinking out there was great. You received lots of compliments from a whole bunch of parents and grandparents associated with the girls team. I am very proud of the way you all played !!!! |

Thanks to Joe and Jim for helping out with the driving and for all their hard work with the boys!!! Hopefully we can do more outings like this one! |
| Coach June 14, 2006 10:57:01 PM Entry ID: 864331 | I want to thank Gina & Ken for our trip to see the Rough Riders game tonight. It was obvious for me to see that all the boys had such a GREAT time and all the boys that left with me confirmed it during our ride home. I thought it was an exceptionally thoughtful idea to take all of the boys and also for letting Jim and I tag along. Thank You again :):):) |
| Coach Joe June 13, 2006 6:44:57 AM Entry ID: 862759 | Let me be the first to wish My Man Ryan a quick and speedy recovery with his broken thumb. Ryan, your one of the toughest kids I know ( you didn't win the award for nothing )so I am sure you will be back sooner then later.Keep smiling and save me a good spot to sign on your cast :) |
