I wanted to compliment the boys on the effort they gave this weekend during the tournament. True there was some rust that showed but that is to be expected when you play at this level and take the entire summer off. Stamina was also an issue due to the same reason but there was no questioning the EFFORT given (which everyone should know by now is the biggest thing I look for ) it was absolutely there. I do believe the Dawgs are about to have a successful Fall season provided the boys make practices and are willing to work hard while they are there, add this to the Team's new additions and things should turn out very very well.

Not sure but it looked like all the boys enjoyed themselves while playing on the beach last night as most of their parents took in the live music up by the beach house ( those guys actually sounded pretty good to me from where I was ). The boys that were with me said they loved it and wanted to do it again so maybe we can do it again some other time if everyone wants to.

Hey Dawgs, I hope that everyone is having a great summer! To all the new pups in the pound I’d like to extend a warm welcome to you and your families on behalf of the Lawn Dawgs team. I’m quite sure the upcoming season will be a great one. To Coach Craig, just a note of thanks for agreeing to pick up the dog color where our fearless leader left off. As you know this is not an easy task, but I’m sure you’ll do well and we’ll try to be kind! (Lol)To Coach Joe you will truly be missed, thank you for working tirelessly year after year for all our boys. The Dawgs would not be the team they have become without your love, support and hard work. With that said we’ll try our best not to let you down :) A special thanks to the McGarty family for allowing the Lawn Dawgs to share quality time with Coach Joe for all these years. Coach Joe’s dedication of service and leadership to the team has been immeasurable, and we wish him and the McGarty family continued success in all future ventures. Hope to see you back on the sidelines soon. DAWGS, Good luck in the upcoming season boys, GO get em! Warm regards, The dreaded momma

Another FULL FIELD pick-up game this past saturday with 26 players showing. The ball movement overall was the best yet and I do believe this saturday thing is paying off for those that are able to attend.

Well there was a GREAT turnout Saturday for the pickup game. We actually had 23 players down there and played a full field game. Everyone seems to be really enjoying themselves so we will continue it as long as we can get the field. See you this coming Saturday. We are on unless you here otherwise. OH and to those that weren't there ( reminder for those that were ) bring 2 different colored shirts each time you come down as I do not have enough of the large pinnies to outfit 2 complete teams. One WHITE and one DARK T-Shirt.

USA v BRASIL, 2pm on ESPN for the Confederation Cup Championship. This is THE first time in the history of US Soccer that our National Team will appear in a F.I.F.A. Competition Finals. I know soccer isn't everyone's first love of sports but if you have the chance to watch it with your son you should probably do so because it is an Historic Event for the United States Soccer program.

Well I hope everyone had fun this past weekend. As we all know we tied for 2nd place in our bracket but did not advance to the semi's based on the tie breakers. Some may find that disappointing which, yes it is because we play to win BUT overall I was very happy with the team's play. The first game we tied what would eventually turn out to be the BU13 Premier Bracket Champions (Team from Maine). I think we can all admit that the first 20 minutes of that game we weren't really in playing mode. This was probably due to the fact we were away with a lot of distractions but so were all the other teams. We went down 1-0 off a quality goal. They crossed the ball from our left side and one of their players in the middle had a redirecting header into the far corner. We had a cross from our left side that Travis who was playing outside right Midfield made a perfectly angled run onto the and was able to hit it with the inside of his right foot, redirecting the volley into the net just under the crossbar. Game ended 1-1. Second game we all saw what happen. While trailing 3-2 Nas appeared to chip the on rushing keeper and the ball was bouncing in and over the goal line where a defender cleared the ball before it hit the ground behind the goal line but in doing so his clearing foot did even come back to the ground but rather went into the netting further proving how far into the net he was when he struck the ball. Bottom line it was absolutely a goal that we were not credited with. Then Nkosi got absolutely wiped out from behind while in the other team's 18 for an apparent PK but no, Ref made no call. It was the worst NON call I have witnessed in some time now. We made 2 terrible defensive mistakes in this game and paid for each. Things I haven't seen before and better never again. Regardless you guys still played outstanding soccer in this loss. Final game you guys were sick. It was a COMPLETE GAME, with total effort and execution. I explained before the game that we have outplayed each team we have faced this season which is progress and that was due to the effort being put forth but that it was now time to step up our game, to give just that much more effort and start getting the results we should. To show that we can step it up, that we can win every 50/50 ball, that we can move the ball like we were taught, that we can WIN games. Well to EVERYONE'S credit, you ALL did just that and it was an impressive 4-0 victory and could have easily been 6-0. As I said Mike was absolutely the Tournament MVP and simply a BEAST out there just refusing to be denied. Nkosi really showed some incredible progress in his new role and was extremely exciting to watch. Nkosi scored on a PK. Jonathan had 2 goals as well, one was just a classic Johnny shot from 20 yards out crushing it into the far side netting and the other was a toe poke with a defender literally draped all over him. Savas on an incredible low laser shot from 28-30 yards out also scored. Anthony was a rock on defense as always and AJ fought through the injury in the first game to come back and play which as we all know is always huge. Ethan had a tremendous run in the final game while up front and also played outstanding in the back. Tyler had a solid defensive performance and at least 2 times came out of nowhere to stuff 2 shot attempts when there were defensive breakdowns. Nas, Chris, Paulie gave all that they had in each game. Being short handed to the point that we only had 2 subs at certain times I feel you all played great and do feel with the full squad we definitely take that Championship. I would like to thank my son Joe for guest playing with the Dawgs this past weekend. Joe was his typical consistent self giving every bit of effort he has for every minute he was on the field. I love and appreciate the effort you gave and always do.

I just want to say that last game we played was absolutely brilliant. We won 50/50's, we passed, we moved, we communicated, we hit the net 4 times, and held a shutout as well. This game was the definition of putting together a complete game. We need the next 4 games to be like this one. Full compliment of players and we crush every team in that tourney. NO doubt. Three things I saw this weekend and liked. Johnny is BACK! Nkosi is COMING VERY VERY SOON!
