I still can not get over the fact that Zachary G. scored 2 header goals in the SBK game to rocket us past the first place undefeated team. I still shake my head thinking about that one. Again, you guys all played outstanding. Total team effort.

Dawgs I hope you all know that I absolutely always do whatever it takes to make our games and despite what most people are telling me, tomorrow will be no exception but should I just be unable to make it due to things out of my control I want you all to know I will ABSOLUTELY be thinking and wondering about how you boys are doing. As I have told you all I do feel we as a team have been playing the best ball we have ever played since the Memorial Day Tournament. I am very proud of you guys for that, so all I ask is that you all, for one last game this season, put it all together and defeat our friends at Stony Brook, handing them their very first loss of the season so that we can continue on a postive path heading into the break. look at this game like it is the Finals of a Tournament because you guys have ALWAYS been able to dial it up in those type games. I know you guys can do it so go out there and get it done !!!!

For any of you that were interested, the tournament Football Team that Coach John & I play on won this weekend's tournament in Rhode Island going undefeated in 5 games while scoring 97 pts and only allowing 3 pts against. Coach John had a touchdown saving flag on an interception and I myself had a touchdown saving tackle on a game opening kickoff return ( The guy was a track star so there was no way I was going to just try to grab his flag so I tackled him out of bounds ). This past week, sports wise, was as good as it gets. Shane's team won, Shane was selected to be on an Academy team that he had a tryout for, the Dawgs won beating the very hyped Brentwood team. The Falcons won moving themselves into 3rd place in league standings and to top it off the Football Team also took care of business. I guess today would be a good day to retire :) Coach John was flawless in his duties and the guys told me I kick better with a herniated disc that has fragments broken off and floating in the spinal cylinder....lol.... ( I have to agree with them even though every single kick was pure agony for me, I'm stupid like that I guess....lol) See you all tomorrow !!

Another Memorial Weekend Tournament another Championship. The amazing part is you guys do it the same way each year. Win the first 3, lose the last game on Sunday. Win a Semi-Final game, then beat the only team we lost to in the Finals. You guys played OUTSTANDING today in both games, with a total of 10 Goals For and only 1 Goal against. The overall totals were 20 Goals For and 4 Goals Against. I must acknowledge as I did, Fiorella as the Man Of The Match. There wasn't one ball that came out of the other team's end that Anthony didn't fly to and that was a HUGE difference in the game. Nicolas Ruiz stepped up his game BIG TIME in Lawrence's absence and was making things happen on offense. Zachary Graham had an unbelievable tournament and hopefully he will carry this performance throughout the rest of the season. AJ the wins against the 2 Commack teams were for you and your family and I was happy YOU scored in both, that has to make you feel good. Travis played great in the Finals today. Nkosi without a doubt had the shot of the weekend from just inside midfield. I told Nkosi to just crack it and put it in and he did just that by putting the ball just under the crossbar and through the outstretch fingers of the keeper. I am not sure exactly how far that was but it had to be at least 40 yards. I am not sure if they will ever read this but Austin & Paulie were OUTSTANDING additions to the team this weekend. Austin's presence at Striker along with Paulie's relentless and tenacious approach to the midfield position was a very promising thing to watch. Thank You to both of you. Joe's play on Sunday was a big help also and we wish he could have joined us for a few more of the games. Then there is Jesse, not only did he play the keeper position well when in net but the big fella also had I believe 3 assist which showed a lot of heads-up play in the field. I hope you all had fun. Now imagine if Nas was with us also. Wow, one can only imagine that lineup. Well guys they put them in front of us and you took them out. That's all I can ask of you. I hope you all had fun and more importantly got some of your confidence back as far as winning games and scoring goals because we sure need it for the second half of this season. Great Job, I'm proud of my Dawgs !!!! And the best part, I found a cook-out that invited me cause I sure was hungry....lol

You guys took 2 on saturday which was a nice start. First game against Manhattan saw goals by Lawrence who kept himself in perfect position for the ball being crossed from the left side of the formation. Second goal came from a perfect pass shot to a corner by Nicolas Ruiz. Second game found us against a team that was a little pumped up with D2 guest players and full of aggression at the start. You guys adjusted and the goals started to come. ( this maybe out of order ) I believe the first goal occurred after some great passing which had the ball in the right corner on Austin's foot who perfectly chipped it to Lawrence on the near post with a defender on his back. Lawrence then chipped the bouncing ball over his own head and the defender's as he spun around the defender to receive his own chip. Lawrence then finished it off into the net. Austin on a ball I believe was sent by Fiorella perfectly into space for Austin to run onto creating a one on one with the keeper, You had to feel for the keeper because Austin more then made up for the earlier crossbar shot by drilling it past the keeper. Third Goal came after Patrick won us a PK by his fight in the box. As everyone knows Nas is our "Money in the Bank" man when it comes to PK's so of course my first instinct was to look for Nas to take the shot but Nas was nowhere to be found ( He's not playing this weekend ) So I called on AF, that being Fiorella. Anthony converted Patrick's efforts into a score. Final goal was probably pretty sweet for our boy AJ considering he was playing against his own town. Nkosi took a free kick that became a very hard ball to handle for the defense which found it's way in behind them. Where the ball also found AJ anticipating this who also broke in behind them. Now it was just AJ against the former HBC Arsenal D1 keeper. AJ made an absolute perfect pass shot to the far corner which the keeper did managed to get hands on but I believe only because the grass was so high it slowed the ball down just enough. Didn't matter though because it was far enough away from the keeper and had just enough on it to cross the line. I was very happy to see all the scoring opportunities that we created in both games !! We did allow 1 against us and I honestly feel it was due to just a lackadaisical effort by our defender which allowed a point blank shot on goal. Can NOT take plays off no matter what the score or situation. EVERYONE knows how I feel about EFFORT, if you give EFFORT I can put up with pretty much anything else that comes but YOU have to show me EFFORT. I have just never felt THAT to be too much to ask for. Ok we are back at it today so lets keep it going !!!!

Dawgs I have no way of knowing how our league game would have turned out but I must say I was honestly very happy with the way you boys came out and started to play. It was quite good. So everyone knows I did check with the other Coach and their trainers is just fine after receiving medical attention. Now your play in the scrimmage was very good as well but not perfect. We found the back of the net 5 times which is always a great thing ( Coach John asked me " when's the last time we scored 5 against anybody " ? ) Honestly nothing came to mind at that moment. As I said though, the outside defensemen and the outside halfbacks HAVE TO start looking to the INSIDE Midfielders more. Just has to happen more instinctively and quicker. At the same time, as I keep stressing, the center Midfielders must start switching fields more even if it is just to the other center midfielder then back out where it came from but running up and down one sideline, although good at times, isn't the way to play it ALWAYS. We had goals scored by Jonathan on the most unselfish play of the game when Zachary G. while in the 18 with the ball on his left foot for a shot, elected to touch it in front of Jonathan's natural shooting foot ( left ) and Jonathan rewarded Zach's efforts by finishing it off. Nkosi scored 2 great goals and the better one being the one-time volley off the corner kick serve, placing it into the upper 90 with perfect touch. Nkosi also had an assist. Zach G. also scored a goal in this one. Nicolas got in on the act with a perfectly chipped ball over the keepers head from the side of the 18 and into the far side netting. We may try the Traditional style of the 4-4-2 opposed to the Stopper/Sweeper alignment I prefer because after seeing Nkosi in the midfield and what that created....It's kind of hard to argue with. We will play it that way in the upcoming tournament to test it out. Good work boys, I hope you had fun against the BU13 team. Congrats to Patrick and Anthony F. for bragging rights ( not that Anthony would take advantage of that but I have a funny feeling Pat will....lol )
