T318 - Stagg HS Swim Test - FOR RANSBURG or RANK - 3/31/2026
WHO: Swim test for
Troop 318
scouts and adults who are attending Ransburg Summer Camp this year.
Please note: Due to the number of Troop 318 scouts that need to take the swim test this session is open to Troop 318 Scouts (and adults) only.
Swim tests are good for one year - If you take a swim test, and pass, in March you do not need to test again unless you want to. There will be a second opportunity to take the swim test before summer camp (date TBD).
You can also take the test for rank.
Second Class Rank
Scouts must pass the BSA beginner swimming test (5b.)
Scouts must demonstrate water rescue methods by reaching with your arm or leg, by reaching with a suitable object, and by throwing lines and objects. (5c.)
First Class Rank
Scouts must pass the BSA swimmer test (6a.)
WHAT: BSA Swim Test. Before you go to the pool, review the BSA Swim requirements to be a Swimmer, Beginner, or Non-swimmer.
The BSA Swimmer jumps into the water over his or her head feet first, levels off and then swims 75 yards in a strong manner using a power stroke, (side stroke, crawl, breaststroke, or trudgen), then will swim 25 yards using the elementary backstroke, then will float long enough for us to see that he can float. The 100 yards must be completed without stops.
YOU WILL NOT BE ALLOWED TO TOUCH THE POOL BOTTOM OR SIDES. If you do not pass, you can get at the back of the line and try again.
The BSA Beginner jumps into the water over his or her head feet first, levels off and then swims 25 ft on the surface of the water, stops, turns, and swims back to the starting point.
The Non-Swimmer did not complete either of the above tests.
WHEN: Tuesday 3/31/26 from 6:00-8PM. Last swimmer tested must be in the water by 7:50PM. You must register to attend.
WHERE: Stagg High School 8015 W 111th St, Palos Hills, IL 60465
WHAT TO BRING: Be dressed in your Swim wear and bring a towel.
Sign up deadline is Thursday, March 26th.
