T318 - Volunteer Opportunity - Village of Orland Park Tree Planting - Saturday, May 2, 2026

New Service Opportunity! Conservation! Helping the Community!

Troop 318 has the chance to partner with the Village of Orland Park Forestry and Natural Resource departments planting approximately 25-30 new trees at Centennial Park.

A diverse tree canopy provides enormous benefits for Orland Park, everything from cleaning the air to habitats for wildlife to beauty and relaxation, and we can help build a legacy of these benefits long after our scouting days are over. Every time you go to the pool, you'll be able to check in on the trees and point out to your friends that you helped plant those!

The first service opportunity is the initial planting day. The Village of Orland Park will pre-dig the holes, so our help is required to place the trees, backfill the dirt, apply the Gator Bags (water bags), and do the initial watering. Every two weeks the patrols will be assigned watering duty of the new saplings on a rotating basis through the summer. Details on bi-weekly waterings will be announced later.
