Mark your calendars! Troop 318 has again been invited to participate in welcoming Honor Flight Chicago home to Midway Airport. This year's event will be Wednesday, June 19, 2024.
Honor Flight Chicago recognizes the bravery, determination and patriotism of our nation's senior war veterans with a one-of-a-kind journey to Washington, D.C. to tour the memorials built in their honor. This trip is provided at no cost to the veteran and is intended as a heartfelt thank you for their service and sacrifice from a grateful nation. www.honorflightchicago.org.
Your help is needed to make this celebration even better! The day?s adventure concludes back in Chicago with a Welcome Home Celebration where family and friends assemble at Midway Airport's Baggage Claim 1. Awaiting the planes arrival from Dulles Airport, they are joined by color guards, bagpipers, Scouts, motorcycle clubs, a brass band, and countless volunteers and active duty military personnel. Scouts dress in their best class A uniforms and cheer the veterans as they return. Veterans at last get the kind of "welcome home" they missed long ago.
