2024 Silver League Outdoor Hitting Clinic

If anyone would like to attend the 2024 Silver League Softball Outdoor Hitting Clinic presented by Bomani Sports please see the informational flyer linked below.  The event will take place at our regular spot, Willig in Canton, on Thursday, June 20th starting with the First-Timers session at 6:30pm. The first session is spent tracking your swing speed to determine your ideal bat weight. The second session will begin at 8pm and is for those who have their ideal bat weight as a known. Individual swing analysis in the advanced session will be used to guide you towards proper technique to maximize your swing.  If you have previously attended part one and therefor have your ideal bat weight you can sign-up for just the second part. There is no need to repeat the First-Timer session.

Space is limited and after the spots are filled we will keep an alternate list in case of any cancellations. $35 is the cost for a single session and if you want to get your bat weight and then continue to the advanced session the total will be $50.

Contact Kevin Kimmell at kevin@externalis.com or 330-858-3572 to claim your spot.

In case of inclement weather we will attempt to secure a backup date at Willig on a Thursday in July,

Our Email Blast has been down a few days now so I am posting this on the Front page for everyone to see. Hopefully it will be up and working soon.

Just a couple reminders;

Deadline to submit Hall of Fame nominations is 6/15/24

Also have had several questions on where you can stand in the batters box. Here is the actual rules provided in the Senior Softball rule book:

Rule 1.33.  "An illegally batted ball occurs when the batter hits the ball fair or foul and:

A) The entire foot is completely outside the lines of the batter's box and on the ground.

B) Any part of the foot is touching the strike zone mat."

Rule 7.3 A "The batter must have at least some portion of both feet on or inside the lines of the batter's box at the start of the pitch.  A batter who steps out of the batter's box at any time during the pitch and then hits the ball, fair or foul, shall be called out.  Steps out means touching the ground completely outside of the lines of the battery's box".

Any questions on these please contact your Division Rep.

The Unsung Heros Of Softball
Very rarely do they get a hello. Very rarely do they get a smile. These men of blue. They stand in the cold. The heat. The rain. They wait around for hours in delays and sometimes do 5-6-7 games in a row. Often not complaining at all.
Even the best paid ones dont make much. They don't do it for the money. They do it to stay connected to the game. Their youth and to have interaction with the sport most of them have been involved in for longer then we have been alive.
They take the beating the verbal assaults the name calling from the stands. From the coaches. They still keep on moving.
Every event you will see them. Ready. Willing to do a job most of us would never actually do ourselves.
Being a player you see the other side of good ol blue. These are amazing people. Fathers. Grand fathers. You hear their stories. You learn from them.
So here is to the unsung heros. The guys we call Blue.
Not a single event could take place without you.
I appreciate you everyday and am happy you all are in the game.
Thank you Blue. Thank all of you!!
Signed,
Every softball coach and fan!"
