Kildonan draw

With a game that didn't see scoring until the 80th minute, Kildonan managed to snatch a draw with 5 minutes left with no sunlight and against the run of play.

Warren was put in as striker with 7 minutes to go, shortly after a Manitoba free quick found an unmarked attacker in the box. He made no mistake heading and beating Devin in net.

With the introduction of warren and KAFC pressing, Warren latched onto a ball deep in manitoba territory and sent in a through ball that was met by Elijah and who fired it past the keeper to the far side to tie things up.

Manitoba was visibly discouraged and Kildonan get a vital point in trying to finish better then 7th in the final standings.

Next up is OAH for the last game of the season for both teams, and what will decide play-off spots for the first round.

Kildonan fall again

Kildonan surprisingly held their ground, starting the game with only 9 men and kept SJR off the scoresheet until 25 min.

By that time subs and a full squad had showed up and that's when KAFC seemed to get lost on positioning.

Kildonan got one back in the first half. A well placed cross from James Na found an unmarked didi who brought it down one time and smashed it toward the net. It trickled through but Luis was there to make sure it crossed the line to make it 2-1.

Nothing else to say after that. KAFC rarely controlled the remainder of the game and due to lightning, it was called off in the 80th minute.

Next up is electric shoes as KAFC needs points to climb out of 7th spot for a preferential spot in the playoffs.

KAFC can't finish it

With high expectations, KAFC still came out second best, despite FCK starting with 9 players.

Surprisingly FCK scored first. failure to mark the man allowed a low cross across the box where an unmarked FCK player shot low and hard beating devin.

KAFC pulled it back. A good wide ball to didi had him go in on net and with the wind and the rain, he tried his luck. The keeper couldn't get a hand on it and it fell back into the net, with the rushing Elijah there to make sure it stayed.

Devin was strong and stopped a penalty kick on a questionable call. Despite no FCK player going down in the box on a challenge by pedro, the ref judged a foul and pointed to the spot, but karma and Devin evened it out.

As quickly as that happened, failure to clear a ball in the wind dropped to an FCK player who made a chip from 35 yards out that beat devin to the top corner, leaving him no chance.

Despite being in the game at half time a corner kick for FCK found an unmarked player in the 6 yard box who went up and finished the header to extend their lead.

Mighty man Pedro struck for a 2nd. A free kick 35 yards out allowed Stewart to hit a perfectly weighted cross to the far post, finding an unmarked Pedro who headed the goal past the keeper, despite getting hurt in the process.

Celebrations were short lived as a defensive breakdown allowed an FCK player to get behind the line when a long range shot rebounded from devin right to his foot, leaving devin again with no chance.

Up next is SJR as KAFC is desperate for 3 points. Their first encounter was a lopsided 4-1 decision for SJR.

Kildonan still winless

Kildonan were unlucky to pick up points against Fort Rouge on Thursday.

FRF were missing their keeper and had a short bench after their 7th game in 6 days. Kildonan started the game with only 10 as some guys confirmed they weren't going to make it, didn't bother to show, and showed up late.

Despite this, Kildonan stayed in the game against an obvious tired and hurting fort rouge team.

Fort rouge got on the board first when a streaking attacker managed to get a pass across the 6 yard box after beating devin and amp to the ball, and an unmarked FRF player made no mistake.

2nd half saw 2 opportunities for KAFC go to waste after they got some subs for the team.
Baba was fed a ball clear on net and only had backup keeper "hootie" to beat but scuffed the shot and basically passed it to him.

Adam was given another opportunity, on his left foot, but ended up shooting just wide of the far post.

With all the action happening in the FRF half in the 2nd, KAFC could not capitilize and get the tieing goal.

This leaves KAFC Winless in the month of july in the league, and now have to face CSK Steinbach on wednesday the 3rd.

Kildonan will be bolstering their lineup with new signing James Na, who last year played with the MMSL Wpg division team red devils, and is currently without a team to join.

Welcome James.

Kildonan also bids farewell to Rob Boyce who is returnign to Ontario for work.

Although he only spent a short time with KAFC, he definately helped and will be missed by the KAFC squad.

Best of luck Rob, you always have a spot on KAFC if you settle in Winnipeg again.

Kildonan win 2 in a row

On a hot, windy day, KAFC faced off against Mb Utd knowing they would be a tough opponent to beat.

Fortunate to get the wind in the first half, Kildonan made use of it in the 2nd minute. A throw in near the 18 yard box had Colin make a long throw that made its way to the opposite end of the 18, where a lurking, unmarked Didi pounced on the ball, made some space and beat the keeper cleanly for his 2nd goal in as many games.

Kildonan lost possession and managed to contain Mb. for the remainder of the first half when strangely, the ref whistled for half time at the 37 min.

After consulting with the other team, the only fair thing to do was make both halves even at 37 min. This could be a positive or a negative in how the game progresses, but going against the win in the 2nd half didn't seem fair to tack on extra time.

The wind played a huge factor. 2 min. into the 2nd half, an unmarked Mb. players found some pace and unleashed a shot from 30 yards out that dipped and swerved down, leaving Devin no chance.

Game on. Kildonan pressed and it went back and forth until finally in the 30th minute a low cross found an unmarked James who went to the far post and the keeper came out to challenge, bringing him down in the box for a penalty kick.

The ref signalled and selflessly James allowed Adam to take the PK. Adam shot low and hard and the keeper guessed wrong to give the go ahead goal.

With 7 minutes to go kildonan played defensively and despite an onrush of pressure from Mb, they managed to hold them off and secure a well deserved win.

Passing and possession has been increasingly better with each game so Kildonan looks promising for their upcoming games.

Kildonan faces a week break and then is back in action on the 11th against OAH, and then on the 13th against the Rowdies.

Practice will be Wednesday the 6th at Windsor park collegiate.

Kildonan back to winning

Kildonan faced a tough opposition in ESU but perservered and with 3 goals in the last 15 minutes of regular time secured the win.

First half a speculative cross/shot rebounded off a ESU defender who headed into his net, but the goal was credited to Paul.

ESU tied it up just before the halftime whistle. I mistake defending a corner kick found an open hole at the near post that the ESU kicker managed to curl in and beat 2 guys to score.

It took 20 minutes for Kildonan to take the lead. Paul playing some nice one-two's and when he got the ball back, he fired it first time into the top far corner leaving the keeper no chance.

Stewart on his debut added the 3rd. A speculative shot from 25 yards out had Stewart in the middle of the field curl a beautiful left footed kick into the top left corner, the keeper left stranded again.

Didi rounded out the scoring, his first for the season, and first in a few seasons as well. Similar to the Stewart shot, Didi found himself with the ball and unmarked in the center of the pitch 25 yards out and he struck the ball hard which curled into the top left corner again, the keeper with no chance.

The game was characterized with great ball movement, runs off the ball and passing, which is what KAFC will need on Wednesday when they face Manitoba United.

Currently the KAFC roster is riddled with injuries, with at least 7 guys expected to miss due to injury.

Game time is 7:30 pm at Joe Malone.

Welcome to the team

Kildonan would like to welcome their two newest members to the team, Rob Boyce and Stewart Wiltshire

Welcome to the team boys!

Rob will see action against SJR on Thursday the 23rd and Stewart's first game will be Sunday the 26th against Electric Shoes United.

Kildonan lose 2 straight

Not much can be said about the game against SJR. SJR appeared to field one of their weaker teams and yet KAFC couldn't break them apart and went quickly 2-0 down in the first half.

Lack of energy and commitment, KAFC had some brief periods in the 2nd half of good passing, but overall SJR controlled the play and were the deserved victors.

Both Elijah and James had shots go off the post, which could have been a different game if they went in.

KAFC had 4 players go off with injuries, and another player join the injury list. With a depleted squad, Kildonan hopes to rebound against ESU on Sunday the 26th, but are expecting a tough game from a team who can score and have been competitive in all but one match, which was the first game of the season.

Kickoff is 7:30 pm at Joe Malone.

KAFC lose the derby

What had hoped to be the first derby win against FCK again turned into a 2-1 loss to a short side FCK.
FCK drew first blood, capitilizing on a defensive error and leaving devin no chance.

Despite having the wind in the first half, KAFC failed to capitilize and was marred by rushed, sloppy passing.

KAFC finally tied it up with a beautiful free kick by warren. Luis made a good run toward the middle and was fouled just outside the 18 yard box.

Adam stepped up and looked to take it but ran over the ball, confusing the FCK wall and allowing warren to curl in a nice one into the top corner, leaving the FCK keeper with no chance.

Things fell apart 18 mins. into the 2nd half. Another defensive mistake saw a ball being passed into the center where a KAFC defender couldn't get it, but an FCK striker took the gift, ran the ball in and shot beating Devin.

Despite a late charge and some heroics from devin in net, a good run from Daniel got him hauled down in what appeared to be the box, but teh ref waived it off and gave a free kick outside the 18.

warren tried the free kick and narrowly missed the outside post.

With KAFC second loss, they hope to rebound as they have to play SJR next Thursday at SJR. SJR has only 1 win and 1 tie in 4 matches, but they always seem to be ready for the KAFC team.

Kildonan suffer first loss

In a game against a team featuring some ex-Cavalier players and Athletic players from the indoor season, this is a game KAFC wanted to win.

Unfortunately, fort rouge played better and capitalized on their opportunities and came out 3-0 winners over KAFC.

Fort rouge struck first 25 min. in the first half. Fort rouge applied alot of pressure and KAFC absorbed most of it and tried to use the wind at their back to mount an attack but were always stopped in the final 18.

The only good chance KAFC had was a one timed volley shot by Adam who struck it well, low and hard but was blocked by the FRF keeper. a rebound went straight back to Adam who had a difficult time trying to hit it again and the 2nd effort went wide.

Kildonan applied more pressure in the 2nd half and looked to be wearing down FRF, but an own goal sealed KAFC's fate with 15 min. to go. Expecting a FRF player to be bearing down on the far post, a wide cross came in and Adam got his 2nd when he inadvertently struck the ball in the air, but redirected it past Devin and giving FRF the 2 goal lead.

FRF added a 3rd but it didn't matter at that point. A mistake in marking allowed a ball crossed across the 6 yard box to an unmarked FRF player who struck the ball and despite James making an effort to block the shot, got past him and finished scoring for the game at 3.

Some lessons learned from this game that KAFC needs a bit of work on with the more competitive teams in this league.

Next up is CSK steinbach who have 2 wins and 1 loss in the first part of the season already. Kildonan won both matches in 2010, but will not take them lightly in this match.

Kildonan's game will be thursday June 9th at Joe Malone, and they also are happy to welcome back team all time top goal scorer, Sean Brokop to the lineup.

Injury news. Another name has been added to the injury roster. John Sparrow was brought down in a questionable tackle during the first half of the game against FRF and went off with an undetermiable injury. Its been looked at and John has a clean break of his collarbone. John will miss the next 4-6 weeks and now sits with PK who is recovering from a broken ankle. KAFC hopes for a speedy recovery for both.

Kildonan win against new boys

May 31, 2011

Kildonan took to grandmont field facing MSSL new boys, SC Oranje.

Kildonan were told to treat this team as a threat until they proved otherwise.

Kildonan got lots of possession right off the bat, and 10 min. in they were a goal up. Great work down the right side from daniel lemky allowed him to cross the ball to an unmarked Seba who dove to meet the ball with his head and get the go ahead goal.

Daniel setup the 2nd goal, crossing to elijah who under pressure mis-timed his shot but found an unmarked daniel who had the easiest of tap-in's to make it 2-0.

Then Kildonan started to play down to SC Oranje. Poor passing, specualitive shots from outside the 18 not troubling the keeper to end the half at 2-0.

A "spirited" talk from the coach seemed to light the boys on fire, as they went on to score another 9 (possibily 10 but it wasn't counted) as Warren and Adam got a brace, new signing James Rink got a hat trick, Defender Colin scored his first outdoor goal, and a subsequent free kick late in the half saw Viktor strike it low and hard and past the keeper on the short side to end the scoring at 11.

Kildonan was successful at keeping SC Oranje in their half the first 20 min. of the 2nd half and despite throwing their 4 defenders into the 6 yard box when KAFC attacked, couldn't stop the goals.

Next up is Fort rouge fury, who have added some new players, including some former Cavs into their lineup this year.

Game takes place thursday, June 2nd at Grandmont field again.
