| Tony D CFBL Playoffs October 27, 2015 2:47:02 PM Entry ID: 2069130 | This past weekend were the CFBL Playoffs and Championships!! With 7 teams entered in 6 different divisions, Holbrook was well represented and poised to continue our District 18 CFBL Fall dominance!! Our Junior Thunder, Intermediate National 50/70 Lions and Intermediate American 50/70 MIT Teams were all eliminated on Saturday in the semi-finals, as were the Junior Outlaws on Sunday. Championship Sunday saw 4 Holbrook Teams take the field in Championship Games with a chance to match our 4 CFBL Championships in 2014!! The Holbrook Warriors lost a tough Championship Game 6-3 to a much older and more experienced Beachwood team. But the 8yr Old Holbrook Heat, the 9yr Old Holbrook Heat and the 10yr Old Holbrook Lions ALL brought home the CHAMPIONSHIPS later in the day!! Great Fall Season Boys....Holbrook LL is PROUD of all our teams. CHAMPIONS...ONE & ALL!! Read on for more details on all of the teams & their games!! |
| Tony D 10yrOld Champs! October 27, 2015 2:33:01 PM Entry ID: 2069129 | The 10yr old HOLBROOK LIONS are the 2015 CFBL CHAMPIONS, with a 10-0 SHUTOUT WIN over the Manchester Brewers on Sunday!! The Lions were 7-0 including the CHAMPIONSHIP GAME this season and won 5 of those games by 10 or more runs!! They did this with only 9 players, due to a season ending injury to one of their key players in the Opening Game of the season. The core of this team won the BARNEGAT CHAMPIONSHIP in the Spring 2015...the CFBL 9yr old CHAMPIONSHIP in Fall 2014, the Monroe Tournament in Spring 2014 and the 8yr old CFBL CHAMPIONSHIP in Fall 2013!! All of the District 18 Tournaments they were entered in since they were 7 going on 8!! The future is very bright for these boys and their coaches!! Congratulations to our CHAMPIONS: FRANKIE AMATULLI, NICK ARENA, DYLAN CAIRNS, KYLE FAILLE, DAN ELIAS, NICK IZZO, RAY LEHMANN, COLLIN McCARRON, NICK MELLINO & ANTHONY PALMIERI. | Tony D 9yr Old CHAMPS!! October 27, 2015 2:27:53 PM Entry ID: 2069127 | The 9yr old CFBL Holbrook Heat Team finished the regular season in 2nd place with a 5-2-1 record. In the Playoffs, they beat the 2 teams that beat them.....crushing the 1st place Barnegat Crushers 13-7 on Saturday and mercying the Beachwood Braves 13-0 in the CHAMPIONSHIP GAME on Sunday as Jayden Bonitz threw a 1-hit shutout for 4 2/3, and Tommy Mazzella closed it out to preserve the shutout!!! This team of 9yr olds, also only together since the spring as one of our Barnegat Tournament Teams, are now our second youngest CFBL CHAMPIONS: Kyle Bianchino, Jayden Bonitz, Zach Castillo, Gavin DeGregorio, Devin Donegan, Mike Eidel, Brendan Gallagher, Devin Garvey, Tom Mazzella, Andrew Oxx, Jacob Soto & Eric Valentin. October 27, 2015 2:26:06 PM Entry ID: 2069126 | Holbrook's youngest CFBL Team, the 8yr old Heat, went 7- 0 in the regular season, and defeated Jackson LL 11-1 in the CHAMPIONSHIP GAME on Saturday to finish the season undefeated at 8-0!! Only together since the Spring when they represented Holbrook as the 8yr old Toms River Machine Pitch Tournament team, these boys have put District 18 on notice that they will be a force to reckon with in the future!! Our Youngest CHAMPIONS are: Luke Benecke, James Bradley, Angel Cruz, Riley DeGregorio, Ayden Donegan, Matt Galayada, Matt Grau, Emmanuel Minguela, Carney O'Donnell, Michael Rodriguez, Paul Wiese. Our boys, made up of the core of our Mid-Atlantic 10 yr old Mid-Atlantic Championship team were competing in the Intermediate-National 50/70 division against players 2 & 3 years older than them!! ANOTHER great run for a great team!! Playing against a team of 12 & 13 yr olds, the core of our 11 yr old All-Star finalists were the only team to beat the eventual Champs from Beechwood. Our boys finished 2nd in the regular season and lost in the Championship game in a very close 6-3 game. Congratulations on a great Fall Season to our players: MAX BAILEY, STEVEN BIANCHINO, PAUL IZZO, ALEX LOVAGLIO, RYAN RANKIN, JAKE HICKMAN, JONNY SEFICK, MICHAEL TAMBURRINO, GEORGE HANAKIS, DANIEL ELIAS, & DEVIN FODERARO . | Tony D CFBL SEASON October 27, 2015 10:33:57 AM Entry ID: 2069109 | Our District 18 CFBL Season came to an end this weekend. Holbrook had 7 teams entered in 6 different Divisions this Fall. All of our teams represented themselves and Holbrook proudly!! Most of our teams "played up", meaning they played older teams from the other leagues. Obviously, in some cases that put them at a disadvantage but they all came ready to play every game. Win or lose they challenged each other and will be better prepared for the Spring season because of their involvement with the CFBL in the Fall. Our two "oldest" teams, the 14U Thunder & Manager Gene Daddio, Coaches Allison Furlong & Vinny Piccioto and the 13U Outlaws & Manager Mike Kinsman, Coaches Gene Barth & Bob Brown were eliminated in the Semi-Finals against older and much more experienced teams. Our 13U Intermediate - American MIT Team had a learning season playing on a bigger field for the first time, but Manager RJ McCann and coach Scott Ricci had their boys ready to play every game and also were eliminated in the semi-finals on Saturday. Thanks to all the Coaches, Players and Parents for a great Fall Season. Our Intermediate & Junior Divisions are looking bright for Spring 2016!! |
