| Tony D Reflections on a Championship August 17, 2015 1:13:07 PM Entry ID: 2067391 | Regarding our 10 yr old Mid-Atlantic Champions on a personal note as President of Holbrook LL and I think I can speak for all of our Board Members....Thank You to Manager Rob Grano and Coaches Nevin Mann and Jim Osmond for your dedication, efforts, your time away from work and family and for being incredible mentors to these young boys, whose accomplishments sometimes make us forget that as 10yr olds they are indeed, young boys!! Thank you to the parents for putting their lives on hold for almost the entire summer!! For dealing with the financial burdens that such a commitment can have during such an extended run, for juggling work schedules, putting vacations on hold, catering to your bored children NOT on the team!! And for being understanding that what was achieved could only have been achieved as a TEAM, with no regard to individual needs and certainly not with equal playing time. And finally.. THANK YOU to the TEAM: ANTHONY ABBONIZIO,CHRIS ANDREWS , MIKE ARENT, CHRIS CARTNICK, DEAN DADDIO, GARRETT DREW, JOHN GRANO, RYAN KINSMAN, TAI MANN, CHARLIE MEGLIO, ANDREW OSMOND, JAMES OSMOND, R.J. VASHEY. You boys made us all very, very proud!! Thank you for the thrills and the excitement. | Tony D Mid-Atlantic Champs!! August 15, 2015 12:12:04 AM Entry ID: 2067339 | Holbrook 10's are the Mid Atlantic Region Champions with an amazing 10-9 win over a very tough Maryland team!! They will play for the Eastern Region Championship tomorrow at 11am versus the New England Region Champs from New Hampshire.... Holbrook scored 2 in the bottom of 1st to take a 2-0 lead, and then went ahead 4-0 after 2 and held it until the 4th inning when the Maryland bats got hot and scored 5 to go ahead, 5-4.... Holbrook tied the game at 5-5 in the 4th to set up a wild finish!! Maryland scored 4 runs in the top of the 5th to take a 9-5 lead. Holbrook came storming back with 5 runs as they sent 10 batters to the plate and took a 10-9 lead!! But Maryland would not go down without a fight and loaded the bases with 1 out against Holbrook's third pitcher of the night, Chris Andrews... Andrews was not fazed by the pressure as he got the second out on a called strike three!! Now, with the tying run at 3rd, and the Maryland batter who had beaten us in Game 2 with a 2 run homer at the plate, the game and Championship hinged on this one at bat. The count went to 3-2, 2 outs, bases loaded in a 1 run game, you couldn't ask for a more exciting scenario!! Andrews threw a letter high fastball, to a dead fastball hitter and the batter swung and missed for the strikeout as Holbrook held on for the win and the Championship!! This team has now gone further than any team on a 46/60 field in the History of Holbrook LL!! .. Tomorrow could be another step on that ladder!!... Good Luck Boys! | Tony D 10's in Championship!! August 13, 2015 1:26:06 PM Entry ID: 2067290 | Holbrook 10's advance to the Mid-Atlantic Championship Game on Friday at 5pm with a big 10-5 win over Delaware today!! Team New Jersey jumped out to a quick 4-0 lead in the top of the first with a 2 out, 2 RBI hit by Charlie Meglio, followed by a triple and 2RBI's by Dean Daddio. Tai Mann also drove in 2 runs and Michael Arent had 2 hits. It was an all around team effort as Holbrook jumped out ahead 8-0 and scored 2 more runs in the 6th to take a 10-4 lead, that Delaware couldn't come back from. Dean Daddio started and got the win as Holbrook used several pitchers to secure the victory and save some pitching for tomorrow's Championship Game!! Great job boys...Lets get our revenge against Maryland tomorrow!! |

Rumor has it that yesterday, they traveled to Boston and buried a Holbrook New jersey State Championship shirt at Fenway Park to put the curse on the New England champs!!..... | Tony D Jackson 12's August 11, 2015 5:39:21 PM Entry ID: 2067196 | Congratulations to Jackson LL for defeating Maryland 7-4 to take their first game in the Eastern Region Tournament just now in Bristol, Conn!! .... Tommy Cartnick started and got the win. Steve Slusak's 3 run homer in the 3rd put Jackson ahead to stay!! A 3 run bases clearing double by Jake Wendell in the 4th gave Jackson the cushion they needed to hold off Marylands rally in the 5th. Caden Brooks with a diving play to end the 5th inning left Maryland with the bases loaded, after cutting the lead to 6-4. Maryland had the tying run at the plate again in the top 6th when Ryan Lasko shut the door to save the Jackson win! Great game boys!! Good Luck on Thursday!! |

August 5, 2015 7:59:46 AM Entry ID: 2066951 | Our 10's finished the job last night and took home the State Championship with a thunderous display of hitting, beating Monroe 25 -9!!..... The Osmond Brothers, JR & Andrew were the hitting and pitching stars on a team full of stars!! Andy came in to shut the door after Monroe took an 8-7 lead after the 3rd inning. He pitched 3 1/3 innings and gave up just 1 run as the offense took over and outscored Monroe 18 -1 over the last 3 innings....Brother and catcher, JR capped off the offense with a long 3 run homer to center and was named MVP of the Tournament!!....Plenty of congrats to go around, especially to the coaches!! ...On to Rhode Island at the end of the week!! |
